Recently, the influence of electromagnetic environment for low frequency range on human body has been being argued. Light Rail Transit (LRT) System is an urban transit system which has approximately an intermediate transportation capacity between conventional subway and bus. The LRT systems have been applied and being operated in about a hundred lines around the world and many projects that apply the LRT systems in Korea are being proceeded and scheduled. LRT system is operated under the electrical circumstance of high voltage and large current and passengers are exposed in those electrical circumstance. In this paper, EMI/EMC for low frequency range of K-AGT system is measured and analyzed comparing with the international standard.

Korean high-speed train developed from national R&D project achieved commercialization successfully with the conclusion of purchasing contract with KORAIL. A high-speed train consumes high electrical energy to run at maximum speed. It is important to measure and analyze accurately the energy consumed during the commercial operation for the energy saving. This paper presents the measurement and analysis of consumption energy for a Korean high-speed train in relation to running section and running speed. The results are compared with the results of train performance running simulation in the design of train.

A high-speed train is the system that the electric power is supplied through the overhead contact line and drives motors. In this case that the de-wiring beteen the overhead contact line and the pantograph of a high-speed train the occasion that smooth power supply is not accomplished occurs sometimes. If the de-wiring occurs the arc discharge may damage the overhead contact line or the pantograph and the falling-off in power quality may cause the damage and malfunctioning of motor block. This paper presents the methodology that the arc discharge by de-wring between overhead line and pantograph is discriminated through measuring the PT and CT in the vehicle and measures the current collection characteristics for a high speed train.

LRT System Application Project is performed for the purpose of technical advancement and stabilization of K-AGT system from the viewpoint of practical use and commercialization. For those purpose, the performance test and evaluation procedure for K-AGT signaling system are developed, and the scheme of verifying the performance and function of signaling system under multi-train and driverless control environment is being conducted. For the multi-train operation in K-AGT test track, we applied the regenerative energy storage system in addition to the existing electric facilities. This paper present the design, manufacturing, and testing results of regenerative energy storage system.

Korea Railroad Research Institute developed the driverless rubber-tired Korean-AGT(Automated Guideway Transit) system from 1999 to 2005 and has done its performance and reliability tests on the test line at Gyeongsan-city. In this paper, we have analyzed the investment cost of K-AGT system. The estimated cost data in planing phase to 6th year are collected and compared with the truth investment cost with respect to sub-systems, years, items. It is proved that the estimated cost related to R&D activity in planning phase is relatively correct.
