        한국건강관리협회는 외교통상부와 한국국제협력단(KOICA)으로부터 '국제빈곤퇴치기여금'을 지원받아 2009년 8월부터 201년 6월까지 2년간 정부 무상원조지원사업으로 수단 화이트나일주(州) 알자발라인 지역의 주혈흡충퇴치사업을 실시하고 있다. 이번 국제빈곤퇴치기여금으로 지원한 식수공급 정수시설은 수단 지역의 날씨와 백나일강의 주변 환경을 고려한 것으로, 물을 취수하는 취수장이 강폭과 깊이, 건기와 우기 등에 영향을 받지 않고 안정적이고 깨끗한 물을 취수 정수하여 공급할 수 있는 화이트나일에서 최고의 시설이다.

        Background : Since 2001 the Korean Association of Health Promotion has attempted to establish her own reference valves that can be used in her all fifteen branch laboratories instead of using those adapted from the published data or there commended data by the reagent companies supplied as inserts. However, the previous two reference values derived from the statistics(year 2001 and 2002) were need to adjust to apply to actual practice. Besides there was an unavoidable situation that the reagent has to be changed to other companies in 2002 that creates another statistical problem. Subsequently, the third attempt to derive the reference ranges of tests in KAHP to solve those problems and define common)v acceptable reference ranges was done and and reported here. Methods : Al1 the results performed during January 2, 2003 through September 30, 2003 were collected in Excel tile format. All the data include dthe necessary information such as age and sex. The age was grouped in six; baby(0-3y), children(4-l2y), adolescent(13-l8y), adult(19-S4y), younger elderly (65-79y),old elderly(oyer 80y), with references of statistics in medical informatics and WHO classification. The data were statistically analyzed with SAS 6.04 for-Gaussian distribution as the previous two occasions. None of the tests showed Gaussian distribution. These procedures had been repeated twice or three times after trimming out the results lying outside three standard deviations. Though, all the tests showed non-Gaussian distribution. Subsequently, the reference ranges were defined in the range from the point of lower 2.5% to the point of higher 97.5 %. And in case the lower range could be "0", the reference ranges were defined in the range of 0 to 95%.Results : The reference ranges of most of 56 test items were newly assigned. Also with adaptation of the recommendation of WHO etc. on fasting blood sugar, hemoglobin, cholesterol. Among these there were eight tests that needed reference ranges by the age groups and nine tests by the sex. Conclusions : The third attempt will credit more the reference range of all15 laboratories of Korean Association of Health Promotion, which will be essential part of the better service to the patient and clients to visit KAHP.

        Zoonotic Trematode Metacercariae in Fish from Yangon, Myanmar and Their Adults Recovered from Experimental Animals

        A survey was performed to investigate the infection status of zoonotic trematode (ZT) metacercariae in fish from a local market in Yangon City, Myanmar. A total of 264 fish (12 species) were collected through 4 times from December 2013 to June 2015. All collected fish were transferred to our laboratory on ice and examined by the artificial digestion method. More than 7 species of ZT metacercariae, i.e., Haplorchis taichui, H. pumilio, H. yokogawai, Centrocestus spp., Stellantchasmus falcatus, Pygidiopsis cambodiensis, and Procerovum sp. were detected. Metacercariae of H. taichui were collected in 58 (42.3%) out of 137 fish (5 species), and their average density was 42.9 per fish infected. Metacercariae of H. pumilio were detected in 96 (49.0%) out of 196 fish (9 species), and their average density was 23.6 per fish infected. H. yokogawai metacercariae were found in 40 (50.0%) out of 80 fish (5 species), and Centrocestus spp. metacercariae in 91 (50.8%) out of 179 fish (8 species), and their densities were 306 and 25.8 per fish infected, respectively. Metacercariae of S. falcatus and P. cambodiensis were detected only in mullets, Chelon macrolepis. A total of 280 Procerovum sp. metacercariae were found in 6 out of 12 climbing perch, Anabas testudineus. Morphological characteristics of adult flukes recovered from experimental animals were described. It has been first confirmed that fish from Yangon, Myanmar are commonly infected with various species of ZT metacercariae.

        Comparison of ELISA and Urine Microscopy for Diagnosis of Schistosoma haematobium Infection

        Background: Schistosoma haematobium which causes urogenital schistosomiasis (UGS) is highly prevalent in African countries. Urine microscopy (UM) is the first-line diagnostic method of UGS. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is a common method for screening many parasite infections primarily or alternatively. The present study established an in-house diagnostic system by ELISA and evaluated its diagnostic efficacy in comparison with UM for screening UGS in White Nile State, Republic of Sudan, 2011–2013. Methods: A total of 490 participants were screened by UM or ELISA, and 149 by both. The in- house ELISA system was established employing soluble egg antigen of S. haematobium and the cut-off absorbance was set at 0.270. Results: Of the 149 subjects, 58 participants (38.9%) were positive by UM, 119 (79.9%) were positive by ELISA and 82 (55.0%) showed consistently positive or negative results by both methods. The diagnostic sensitivity of ELISA was 94.8% and specificity was 29.7% based on UM results. The ELISA positive serum samples also cross-reacted with egg antigens of Schistosoma mansoni and Schistosoma japonicum. Conclusion: We have established in-house ELISA for screening serum immunoglobulin (Ig) G antibodies by employing soluble egg antigen of S. haematobium for diagnosis of UGS with 94.8% sensitivity and 29.7% specificity. The ELISA system can supplement the conventional diagnosis by UM.

        지역사회 기반 참여형 학교 건강증진 프로그램 개발: 인도네시아 반다아체 초등학생 적용 사례

        연구목적 : 본 연구의 목적은 지역사회 기반 참여형 학교 건강증진 프로그램을 개발하고, 인도네시아 반다아체 지역에 적용된 과정을 확인하는 것이다. 연구방법 : 2012~2014년 한국국제협력단의 지원으로 진행된 “인도네시아 반다아체 초등학생 건강증진 및 보건교육 사업”을 대상으로 하며, 프로그램 개발 및 적용과정에 지역사회 참여형 연구(CBPR)의 기본 개념이 적용되었다. 연구결과 : 지역사회 기반 참여형 학교 건강증진 프로그램은 CBPR의 원칙에 따라 개발되고, 인도네시아 반다아체 지역에 적용되었다. 개발된 프로그램은 인도네시아 반다아체 아동의 건강한 성장에 영향을 미쳤다. 결론 : 교사를 비롯한 지역사회 구성원의 참여와 협력, 역량강화는 개발도상국의 학교 건강증진 프로그램에서 중요한 부분이다. 후속 연구를 통해 개발된 프로그램의 중재 효과를 깊이 있게 파악해야 할 것이다. Objective: This study was conducted to develop and implement a community-based participatory school health program for elementary school children. Methods: This study describes how Community-Based Participatory Research(CBPR) principles were applied to the international cooperation health project entitled “School Health Promotion and Education Project in Banda Aceh, Indonesia(2012-2014)” sponsored by Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA). Results: A community-based school health program was developed and made progress along the principles of CBPR successfully. A program had effect on securing right to health of the children in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Conclusion: The cooperative participation and capacity building of community members are positively necessary in the school health program for developing countries. Further studies are required to confirm and discuss intervention effects of school health program in-depth.
