Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) technology is a power generation process that integrates a gasification system with a combined cycle power plant. This present paper describes concepts of the real-time operation monitoring system as a tool for enhancing the reliability and raising the availability of the first Korea IGCC power plant. This system consists of five (5) modules : (1) Data Validation Module, (2) Performance Calculation Module (3) Performance Diagnostic Module, (4) Trip Information Module, and (5) Statistics Analysis Module. The objective of this system is to achieve the optimum level of operational performance by providing the operation information of the entire power plant and its major components in real-time and on-line.

Characteristics of transient flow in fuel supply system of a DLN(dry low NOx) utility gas turbine burning natural gas have been investigated numerically by utilizing a commercial MOC (method of characteristics) code. The gas turbine often experiences momentary combustion upset, especially when its combustion mode changes. The solution domain encompasses the intake gas pressure regulator of the power plant to the combustor of the DLN gas turbine. Some numerical results in this study agree very well with the experimental ones. Then, several parameters regarding opening ratios of control valves in the fuel supply system are varied to see the characteristics of transient flow of the natural gas. Results of this study may be useful to understand and/or reduce the combustion instability of the DLN gas turbine.
