Holographic interferometric tomography has been used to reconstruct the three-dimensional temperature field around a single isothermal cube in an infinite medium. The technique, which mainly consists of interferometric fringe enhancement and analysis and computational tomography, becomes user-friendly by utilizing GUI(graphics user interface) environment. It can also reconstruct the reasonably complex, three-dimensional fluid flow in a relative short period of time. More systematic analysis of the three-dimensional field is underway, and the results will be reported shortly.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance evaluation of indoor diffusion rate of surplus heat generated from gas range and concentration distribution of combustion gas by position change of air- diffuser and range-hood with separating plate. A numerical analysis is performed with four cases of this ventilation system for kitchen. The results showed that thermal and flow distribution can be more effective, when air supply diffuser is located at middle position. Also, Comparisons of Indoor Air Quality(IAQ) are made between using separating plate and not using, IAQ was improved in case of using separating plate and also, kitchen exhaust hood concentration distribution was improved about 30%

This study was development of soil adherent preventing device for farming rotary. Because, in case that soil adhere to the upper/lower cover of farming rotary, the required power of tillage operation is increase. And was development the measuring device of the required power of tillage for the measurement of required power in performance testing. The result of the study are summaried as follows: (1) The high density polyethylene plate was attached to the upper/lower cover of farming rotary for the prevention of the increase of required power. (2) The measuring device of required power was developed for performance test of the developed soil adhere preventing device. (3) The result of performance test showed that the required power of tillage operation was reduced to 12.2%.

The steering system gives driver hard burden to steer the steering handle. The device which is designed to lessen this type of burden is the power steering system. In addition to signal controller power assist systems as used for example, in fly-by-wire aircraft, there are two complementary power boost systems in which a mechanical back-up function can be provided for fail-safe operation. The systems can be described as force boost and velocity boost systems. The two systems have distinct capabilities when used for power steering or vehicle stabilization and handling enhancement, for example, and are fail safe for complementary actuator failures. Futhermore, the systems affect the back relations related to the 'feel' that a human operator would sense in quite different ways. Most of power steering systems are related to the force boost system. Now, the two types of power steering systems are analyzed and compared theoretically to help the conceptual understanding and to verify the above mentioned concepts. And then, an idea on the application for the velocity boost system which is less used relatively is suggested.

The calibration of the accelerometer is the procedure to determine the sensitivity The uncertainty is a parameter used to represent the confidence of the sensitivity. The quantities which influence to the sensitivity of the accelerometer to be calibrated by the comparison method are reference accelerometer sensitivity, signal conditioner gain, measurement voltage, temperature, transverse motion, distortion and relative motion. As a parameter to represent the confidence of the sensitivity of the accelerometer, the uncertainty is used. The uncertainty of the calibration of the accelerometer to be calibrated is a function of the influence quantities mentioned above. The method of determining the uncertainties of the influence quantities and sensitivity of the accelerometer to be calibrated are explained.

This study was conducted to execute study on development of a implement for gathering and binding the rice straw of original state which is not bent and broken in the paddy field. The annual yield of the rice straw in our country is 7,000,000 ton and over. If the rice straw is gathered, bound as original state which is not bent, broken in the paddy field, its usage and value shall be widen, heighten as much as that. Therefore the survey and the analysis on about the physio-chemical characteristic, production and usage of the rice straw had been performed. The criterion on development and design of the prototype had established through the theoretical and structural analysis of the component parts. And the more reasonable, reliant prototype had developed with this criterion. The basis performance test and the field performance test of the prototype had been executed, therefore its performance and optimal working conditions were established and the results were presented.

The numerical model simulation was conducted to evaluate complex wind flows over Pusan Metropolitan City, a typical mountainous coastal urban area of Korea. SAIMM(System Application International Mesoscale Model), a meteorological prediction model, includes surface heat budget and relatively detailed parameterizations of the atmospheric surface and planetary boundary layers. The experiment was carried out for August 17 to 18, 1995. The simulated daily variation of wind flows is well represented in the typical sea/land breeze and mountain/valley wind alternation in the model region with irregular topographic conditions. While the valley wind occurred before sea breeze by surface heating blows to the top of the mountain in summer morning, the speed of sea breeze which directs inland from the coast area grew stronger and strong convergence zones were formed at several valley areas of inland in the afternoon. The mixing height of inland reached approximately 1300m by ascending stream and prevailing heat convection during the day time. Compared the calculated results with the horizontal wind data observed from Automatic Weather System, the characteristics of local circulation in area studied were discussed.

Information on material property may be considerably important in design and evaluation based on reliability in structures including industrial facilities and civil structures. In this study, a database system including the information on properties of the structural materials was developed. The material property constructed in this system includes physical properties, tensile properties, impact properties, hardness properties, fatigue properties, creep properties, fracture properties, and corrosion properties. This system contains 145,000 numeric data of materials property for 600 kinds of metals. In this system designed as user-friendly system, the data can be retrieved through internet and shown in both numeric and graphical forms.
Single Optical Port Access Holographic Particle Image Velocimetry

An optical system, which requires only a single optical window mounted on a test volume, is proposed for holographic particle image velocimetry (HPIV). The optical system is a derivative of the double-exposure, double-reference-beam, off-axis HPIV system, but the innovative idea behind the system is to use back scattered light from the particles as the object wave. A 45˚ beam splitter inserted in front of the window serves to admit the illumination beam and extract the back scattered light. This concept can be of great engineering interest because optical access is often limited to one window in practical devices. The preliminary results of the technique appear quite promising, with current studies aimed at defining the optical resolution capabilities.

This paper deals with stress analysis and deflections for probe stage systems connected to semi-conductor apparatus. Most of the real probe stage systems are composed of three mechanical parts such as slider, X-base and Y-base. In order to calculate the maximum stress and deflection for probe stage systems, three-dimensional finite element model is applied. Numerical results are obtained by changing various design parameters related to the above three parts. Through the numerical simulation, optimal design shape satisfying von Mises yield criterion is presented. The analysis was performed by using commercial COSMOS/M FEA code.
