Recent development in Japan on jumbo formulation of pesticides for paddy application by hand throw was reviewed. In addition, the diffusion of liquid formulations in water was examined to establish the research strategy for the jumbo formulation. Research on jumbo formulation in Japan has been focused on gas-generating formulations and self-emulsifiable formulations. Although continuous efforts to minimize the problem of pesticide deposit on the treated site have been made for the gas-generating formulations, much work is still needed to establish a generally acceptable formulation method and to commercialize a herbicide formulation. The self-emulsifiable jumbo formulations have recently been investigated. These formulations could simply be processed and showed relatively high biological efficacy. The emulsifiable concentrate was more diffusible than the suspension concentrate in water. The diffusion of the emulsifiable concentrate was not greatly disturbed by floating obstacles. And the diffusion rate was high when the specific grabity was lower than one.
토양 방선균 KRA16-334 배양 여액의 돼지풀 방제효과

토양 방선균 KRA16-334 균주 배양여액의 돼지풀에 대한 방제효과를 온실 및 포장조건에서 수행하여 돼지풀 방제제 후보소재로서의 가능성을 검토하였다. 본 균주 배양 여액은 온실조건에서 돼지풀 초·중·후기 경엽처리 시 처리 농도범위에서 우수한 방제 활성을 보였으며, 2회 체계처리에서 4배 희석액 처리농도까지 우수한 방제효과를 나타내었다. 선발 균주 KRA16-334 배양여액의 돼지풀에 대한 살초특성은 속효성이었고 약효가 2주 이상 지속되는 특성을 확인하였다. 외형적으로는 처리 초기에 황화 증상이 발현되었다가 고사로 진행되어 사멸되는 양상을 보였다. 선발 후보소재 토양 방선균 KRA16-334 균주는 국내 환경 및 식생 조건에서 생태계교란 광엽잡초인 돼지풀에 대한 친환경적인 방제제로서 유용하게 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. Ambrosia artemisifilia (Rag weed) is one of the first ecosystem-disrupting plant designated by the Ministry of Environment, and it is found to be distributed in the largest area among ecosystem-disrupting plants in Korea. This study was conducted to control A. artemisiifilia with KRA16-334 broth filtrate. The broth filtrate of the KRA16-334 was applied to A. artemisiifilia in a greenhouse. The results showed that the foliar applications of KRA16-334 broth filtrate at all application rates demonstrated excellent herbicidal activity against the early (2-3 Ls), middle (4-5 Ls), and late (7-8 Ls) stages of A. artemisiifilia. Two times of KRA16-334 broth filtrate application suppressed regrwoth of A. artemisiifilia shoot. The main symptom of external manifestation was water soaked dots within 24 hours after treatment and continued to the appearance of chlorosis and proceeded to leaf burn-down, ultimately defoliations to dead plants. Our results show that the KRA16-334 broth filtrate can be utilized as a natural and eco-friendly herbicide against A. artemisiifilia that is one of the broad-leaved weeds disturbing Korean ecosystems.
소형 비닐하우스 내에서 훈연처리된 살균제 Procymidone 의 분포 특성

The distribution of procymidone in a small vinyl house containing cucumber plants or mimic plants was investigated after application of smoke generator. The deposition of procymidone on glass plate and filter paper was significantly similar to that on cucumber leaves, so that glass plate and filter paper could be substituted for cucumber leaves on deposition studies. The deposition of procymidone was proportional to the horizontally projected area of surface; the deposition on the horizontal surface was maximal, and the deposition was minimal for the perpendicular surface. The amount of deposition on the backside of leaf was less than 5% compared to that on the horizontal surface of leaf. The height of leaf from the floor was not a significant factor influencing on the deposition of procymidone whether leaves were overlapped or not. However, the deposition of procymidone on the overlapped leaves was relatively less than that on the unoverlapped leaves. And the deposition difference depending on the distance between leaves was not observable. Overall, the deposition of procymidone was proportionally increased with the application rate of smoke generator, but the deposition was inversely related to the sum of the total horizontal leaf area of mimic plants and the surface area of floor.
계면활성제가 살균제 Dimethomorph 의 오이 엽면 침투성과 오이 노균병 방제 효과에 미치는 영향

The foliar uptake of dimethomorph induced by several nonionic surfactants was measured in order to study the correlations between the uptake rate of dimethomorph and the fungicidal activity to cucumber downy mildew. Dimethomorph was not absorbed in cucumber leaf in the absence of activator surfactant. And the curative effect of dimethomorph WP to cucumber downy mildew was very low under the concentration of 250 ㎍/㎖. But dimethomorph uptake was remarkably enhanced by addition of nonionic surfactants, such as polyoxyethylene cetyl ether, polyoxyethylene oleyl ether, and polyoxyethylene stearyl ether. And the curative effect to cucumber downy mildew was enhanced with proportion to uptake rate of dimethomorph. The protective effect to cucumber downy mildew, however, tends to decrease with the increase of foliar uptake of dimethomorph.. The uptake rate of dimethomorph to cucumber leaf was proportional to the content of polyoxyethylene cetyl ether in formulation, but was decreased with dilution.
