In deterministic optimization, engineering designs are often driven to the limits of the design constraints, leaving little or no latitude for tolerances in modeling and simulation uncertainties and/or manufacturing process variability. Optimized designs determined without due consideration of tolerances can be unreliable leading to catastrophic failure. A reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) method that enable the determination of optimum designs that incorporate confidence ranges for mechanical system is studied. RSM method is utilized to approximate the design functions in the presented procedure. The proposed method is applied to the car body structures for reliability based optimal design.<br/>

In this paper, an optimization method of thin walled beam structures is proposed. Stiffnesses of a thin walled beam are characterized by thickness of thin plates and shape of the typical section of the beam. Explicit formula for section properties such as area, area moment of inertia, and torsional constants are derived using the Response Surface Method. The explicit formula can be used for the optimal design of a structural system which consists of complicated thin walled beams. A vehicle structural system is optimized to demonstrate the proposed method.

In this paper, a fatigue analysis considering resonance frequency is applied to the spot welds in a vehicle structure. The frequency response and the dynamic load in frequency domain are used. The fatigue estimations on the front subframe of the passenger car are performed by using the presented technique. To obtain the frequency response are carried out frequency response analysis. The imposed frequency domain fatigue analysis method is compared with the current time domain fatigue analysis method. The study shows that the fatigue life for spot welding considering dynamic character of vehicle system can be effectively estimated.

Deformation of a mold is measured and analyzed in alignment and curing processes of UV-Imprint Lithography. We are focused on mold deformation caused by a UV resin, which is laminated between a mold and a target glass-panel. The UV resin is viscous in case of liquid state, and the resin will be solidified when being exposed by the ultra-violet light. The viscosity of the resin causes shear force on the mold during the alignment process. Moreover, the shrinkage during phase change from liquid to solid may cause residual stress on the mold. The experiments for measuring temperature and strain are made during alignment and curing process. Strain-gages and thermocouples are used for measuring the strain and variation of temperature on several points of the mold, respectively. The deformation of mold is also simulated and analyzed. The simulation results are compared with the experiments. Finally, sources of alignment errors in large area UVnanoimprint lithography are discussed.

Design for Six Sigma(DFSS) will have a major influence on the future design, if it is applied during the conceptual design phase or design change phase. This paper discusses an approach of Design for Six Sigma using IDDOV model in order to improve braking quality. Because the proposed model focus in preventing failures from happening and can be effectively applied to stages of research, design and development. The proposed model is more effective than the existing models, such as, DMAIC. This will result in more improved but less expensive satisfaction of customer. Examination of results according to the design strategy makes clear the reason why the DFSS with IDDOV model is necessary.
위상최적화를 이용한 태양광 자동차 프론트 너클의 경량화 설계

본 논문에서는 국제 태양광 자동차 대회를 참가하는 태양광 자동차 프론트 너클의 경량화 설계에 관한 연구를 진행한다. 이를 위해 Cattle grid 를 포함한 실제 주행환경과 태양광 자동차를 동역학 시뮬레이션 모델로 구성하고 대회에서 차량의 평균속도인 70Km/h 로 주행 시, 서스펜션에서 발생되는 동하중을 측정하였다. 프론트 너클을 유한요소로 구성하고 다물체 동역학 시뮬레이션에서 도출된 하중들로 위상최적기법을 통해 프론트 너클의 경량화를 이루었다. 마지막으로 피로해석을 수행하여 그 타당성을 검증하였다.

The process conditions during ultraviolet nanoimprint lithography (UV-NIL) process such as temperature, stamping pressure, UV irradiation, etc. are effective factors for successful imprinting of complex and fine patterns. In this study, the effects of aluminum mold on the thermal characteristics of UV-NIL process were investigated through imprinting experiments and numerical simulations. The temperature of polymer resin on mold was measured to study thermal characteristics during UV curing. From the experimental and numerical results, the importance of curing reaction control for UV-NIL process was discussed for deformation characteristics.
피로수명을 고려한 전방 서브프레임의 점용접 이음 위치 최적설계

Optimization of the number and location of the spot welds under fatigue conditions is a major economic consideration. Because of mass production, a small reduction of the number of spot welds, through their efficient and optimal usage. can mean a great saving in production cost. Thus, this paper addresses the optimization method for spot welds of a spot-welded structure under fatigue conditions. Location optimization is performed to enhance fatigue life of spot welds. The three-level orthogonal array is employed to evaluate the design sensitivity and the best combination of the design variables is obtained. The final design, the best combination obtained from the sensitivity information, can improve the fatigue life nearly 8 percent as that of the baseline design, while reducing the 20 percent of the number of spot welds than the baseline design.

We developed an alignment system for large area nano-imprint lithography. The alignment device is composed of vision part, drive part and control part. The vision part consists of two fine cameras and two pre cameras. These four cameras are used for searching target marks and object marks. The drive part is made up of three servo motors and three motor drives. According to control command, three servo motors drive stage with 1㎛ axis accuracy. The control part consists of control PC and Fv-aligner, Based on vision image information, Fv-aligner calculates U,V,W Axis Calibration values. After that, relative position between mark of mold and mark of glass will be adjusted. Besides three parts, there are UV-lamp part and laser calibration part.
