Results from two in vitro assays, Pharmacis CAP system(CAP) and fluoroallergosorbent test(FAST), for detecting serum specific IgE to three allergens, mugwort, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, and cat epithelium, were compared with skin prick test(SPT) results in 53 atopic dermatitis patients with positive SPT and 25 non-atopic controls. Using SPT results as the reference standards, CAP achieved higher sensitivity than FAST in determination of three allergens. CAP for measuring total IgE snd eosinophil cationic pmtein(ECP) was also compared with FAST and ECP radioimmunoassay(RIA), respectively. In comparison of two assays for total serum IgE, the values obtained with CAP were significantly higher than those with FAST. In comparison of CAP and RIA for measuring ECP, the values obtained with CAP were significsntly higher than those with RIA and the differences between ECP values of two assays were significant in high ECP group(> 8.3 ug/1). These results suggest that CAP is the preferred test and seems to be more appropriate method for detection of specific IgE and ECP in patients with allergic digeases.

The pubic louse, Pthirus pubis is a blood-sucking ectoparasite adapted to hold onto pubic, axillary and body hairs. It is usually confined to the pubic and inguinal region. However, it may also rarely involve the scalp and eyelashes. We report two cases of phthiriasis occurring on unusual sites, the first case occurring on the scalp of a 5 month-old male infant, and the second case on the eyelashes of a 49-year-old fe- male. We report a case of giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath involving the foot, in a 21-year-old female patient, who presented with an asymptomatic tumor on the dorsum of her right foot. Histopathologically the tumor is surrounded by thin fibrous connective tissue. The characteristic findings of the excised specimen revealed a typical mixture of abundunt round or polygonal histocyte-like cells with varying portions of spindle-shaped fibroblast-like cells and multinucleated giant cells. Variable amounts of hyalinized fibrous stromal tissue were also present. After excision, local recurrence has not been observed for 3 months. (Kor J Dermatol 1995;33(6): 1168~1171)

Locomotion interface with a virtual reality environment can enhance immersiveness of a user due to the increased proprioception and real energy consumption. An Omni-Directional Treadmill (ODT) is considered as one of these devices; it can facilitate human movements such as walking, running and turning. It can provide a two-dimensional locomotion interface function for interacting an avatar in the virtual environment and the user in the real environment. Existing Omni-directional treadmills are heavy, complex and exhibit low power transmission efficiency. Besides, their significant limitation is slow acceleration and deceleration; which makes them inadequate for applications such as gaming and training of soldiers in virtual environment. Therefore, this paper suggests a novel design of a Fast Omni-Directional Treadmill (F-ODT). The proposed system is simpler, lightweight and produces a high power transmission efficiency based on the suggested Omni-pulley mechanism. Dynamic analysis of the design is performed using simulation program ADAMS® to calculate the drive power, and the required drive motor are selected accordingly. Furthermore, prototype of the F-ODT system is developed according to the proposed design and the capability of the system to provide rapid acceleration is validated. The proposed F-ODT system will be used as a locomotion interface platform in various virtual reality environments such as training of soldiers, gaming, educational experiences and gait rehabilitation. Future task is integration of the F-ODT with a motion capture system and a display system for immersive virtual reality experience.
철서 지역에서 채집한 양서류의 중금속 오염에 관한 연구

본 연구는 비오염 지역에서 참개구리의 성장 단계벨로 증금속의 축적 변동을 조사한 것이다. 일반적으로 올챙이 시기의 증금속 농도는 Fe > Mn > Zn > Cu > Ni > Pb > Cd,Hg의 순이었으며 성체 시기에는 Zn > Fe, Mn > Cu > Pb > Ni > Cd, Hg의 순으로 나타났다. Fe, Mn, Cu, Ni 농도는 성장이 진행됨에 따라 점차 낮아지는 경향을 보였고 Zn은 전기간을 통해 큰 변동이 없는것으로 나타났다. 대부분의 원소는 뒷다리 형성 시기에 체중 증가에 따른 농도 회석 현상이 발견 되었으며 이러한 현상은 Fe, Mn, Ni에 대하여 성체가 되는 시기에 특히 현저하였다. Heavy metal accumulations and their age-related changes were investigated in the tadpole and adult frog (Rana nigromaculata) inhabiting non-polluted area. A rank of metal concentrations was Fe > Mn > Zn > Cu > Ni > Pb > Cd. Hg in tadpole stage, and Zn > Fe, Mn > Cu > Pb > Ni > Cd, Hg in frog stage. The concentration of Fe, Mn, Cu and Ni decreased with age, and Zn concentration did not change much. A dilution effect of metal concentration by increased body weight was observed in the stage of tadpole with hind limb for most of metals, and it was marked in the stage of adult frog for Fe, Mn and Ni.

Vehicle exhaust gases has been affected by fuel quality, combustion technology and after-treatment factors. Especially, fuel quality is a very important key to accomplish the high power, high efficiency and low exhaust gases level. In this regard, LPG is more clean and lower carbon fuel than gasoline and diesel. However, because of containing sulfur odorant (EM, ethyl mercaptan) in LPG, LPG fuel has more higher sulfur content than diesel and gasoline. It is well known that SOx produced for a compounds of sulfur by the combustion process. Also, it is caused that air pollution and poison for catalyst by compounds of sulfur. In this study, LPG fuel was added to sulfur-free odorant that it has been composed for Alkyl-Isovalerate, Alkyl-Acrylate and Alkyl-Pyrazine. And this study evaluated for vehicle emissions characteristics for sulfur-free odorant in the CVS 75and NEDC mode.

몰입감 있는 가상현실(VR)과의 상호작용을 위하여, 인체를 구속하지 않으면서 보행 인터페이스가 가능한 여러가지 타입의 장치가 개발되고 있다. 전방향 트레드밀 (Omni-Directional Treadmill)은, 기존 1 차원 트레드밀과 달리, 2 차원 무한지면을 생성할 수 있으므로 사용자에게 지면과 같은 자유로운 보행 자유도를 허락할 수 있고 가상환경에 대한 몰입감을 증대할 수 있다. 그러나 기존에 개발된 2D 트레드밀은 시스템의 복잡하고 동력전달의 효율성이 낮으며 상대 운동하는 부분이 무겁기 때문에, 느린 보행속도의 인터페이스만 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 기존 2D 트레드밀 시스템의 문제점을 개선한 새로운 2D 트레드밀 시스템을 소개한다. 개발된 시스템의 증진된 속도 및 가속도 성능은 인간의 도약까지 안정적으로 인터페이스 할 수 있으므로, 사용자에게 더욱 몰입감 있는 VR 상호작용을 공급할 수 있다.
