영화<장미의 이름>에 나타난 ‘지식과 권력’의 속성 탐색

‘지식과 권력’의 문제는 이야기 구조를 가진 모든 문화콘텐츠장르에서 쓰일 수 있는 매력적인 소재다. 지식을 소유한 자와 소유하지 않은 자는 서로 대립과 갈등의 구도를 가지면서 대중성을 확보할 수 있는 중요한 서사전략의 도구가 될 수 있기 때문이다. 이 연구는 영화<장미의 이름>에 나타난 지식과 권력의 속성을 탐색하고자 했다. 소쉬르와 레비스트로스의 구조주의적 방법론을 활용해 지식과 권력을 중심으로 관계를 맺고 있는 인물들 간 이항대립의 관계를 중심으로 풀어봤다. 분석대상은 ‘장소(수도원과 장서관)’, ‘웃음논쟁’, ‘이단논쟁’으로 세 가지이다. 연구결과 분석대상으로 삼은 이 세 가지 소재가 이항대립구조에 충실한 서사전략을 보이고 있음을 확인했다. 영화는 지식과 권력의 문제를 토대로 이야기가 전개됐는데, 세 가지 소재의 심층적 의미를 추적하는 과정에서 진리가 은폐됐던 당시의 현실이 역설적 서사전략으로 폭로되고 있음을 발견했다. 또한 서사 과정에서 지식과 권력의 속성이 매우 중요하게 활용되고 있음을 확인했다. The Power and Knowledge are attractive materials that could be used in all of cultural content genre with storytelling. Because he, whether or not own knowledge, could be an important tool of narrative strategy for popularity keeping with a confrontation and conflict. This study aimed to explore the power and knowledge appearing in <The Name of the Rose>. For this purpose, it used the structuralistic methodologies of Saussure and Levi-Strauss, analyzing binary oppositions between the characters mainly connected with the knowledge and power. Three categories was analytic object, ‘Place(abbey, book repository)’ ‘Debate on laughter’, ‘The argument for heresy.’ As a result, we found the three materials had narrative strategy fully following binary oppositional structure. In that movie, which was deployed in a basis with knowledge and power, we eventually found that contemporary reality veiled the truth was paradoxically revealed with these narrative strategy. And we confirmed that it was very important the attribute of knowledge and power in narrative processing.

복고콘텐츠의 그로테스크 리얼리즘, 그 역설적 현실 반영성

본고는 지난 6년 여 동안 대중문화에서 상당한 비중을 차지했던 복고콘텐츠의 탈현실적 특성에서 나타나는 역설적 현실반영성에 주목한다. 기존 복고콘텐츠에 가해졌던 비판적 관점, 즉 복고콘텐츠가 이데올로기를 은폐하고 탈정치·탈역사성을 조장한다는 기존의 시선과는 다른 출발점에 서서 복고의 판타지적 장치가 이데올로기에 의해 은폐된 현실에 균열을 일으키는 역설적 리얼리즘으로 작용하고 있음을 밝히고자 한다. 비현실적인 것이 현실을 압도하는 역설적인 현상을 설명하는데 미하일 바흐친의 ‘그로테스크 리얼리즘’이론은 중요한 개념이다. 연구는 〈응답하라〉 시리즈의 탈현실성을 연구의 중심축으로 설정하여 <응답하라>의 ‘시공간’에 대한 리얼리티 작용을 밝히고, ‘소거와 채움’의 전략이 어떻게 리얼리티를 구현하는지 살펴봤으며, 〈응답하라〉의 양가적 특성이 어떻게 생성의 힘으로 작용하는지 풀어보았다. 연구는 탈현실의 판타지 너머에 이 세계/헬조선의 현실이 놓여있음을 입증하고, 역설의 서사를 통해 발휘되는 현실 환기효과를 논했으며, 콘텐츠에 내재되어 있는 삶과 죽음의 문제가 그로테스크 리얼리즘의 양가성의 원리로 비추어봤을 때 치유와 생성으로 이행하고 있음을 확인했다. This study focuses on the paradoxical reflexivity of reality in the de-realistic peculiarities of retro contents, which have occupied a significant portion in popular culture over the past six years. This study examines the fantastic apparatus of retro contents as a paradoxical realism that causes cracks in the reality concealed by ideology. This is a critical point of view that has been applied to the existing retro contents. Which encourages the de-politics and the de-historicity. Mikhail Bakhtin’s ‘grotesque realism’ theory is an important concept in explaining the paradoxical phenomenon that unrealistic thing overwhelms reality. The study sets the central point of the dereality of the Reply series, and then examined to operate the reality of ‘time and space’ of Reply, and how the strategy of ‘erasing and filling’ realizes reality, and how the ambivalence of Reply act as the power of becoming. This analysis proves the fact of reality of this world(Hell-Chosun) beyond the de-reality fantasy, and discusses the effect of arousal exercised through the narrative of paradox. And this study affirms that the problem of life and death inherent in content are transforming into healing and becoming, in terms of the ambivalence of grotesque realism.
