Image processings using the two-dimensional wavelet transform (2DWT) have been a very active research area in recent years because the 2DWT possess many good properties. However, the discrete 2DWT can not be used for pattern recognition directly because it does not have the translation property. In this paper, we show why conventional discrete two-dimensional wavelet transforms cannot be used for pattern recognitions directly. Then, we propose a new method that makes it possible to use discrete 2DWT to pattern recognition without modification of standard pyramidal algorithms. The main idea of our method is to postprocess the wavelet transformed images using the second-order neural network. To justify the validity of the method, evaluations with test images were performed. The effectiveness of the method can be shown by the evaluation results.

The appeal of sauna is caused by the fact that through that, one can feel Korea’s unique temperament and culture; however, because of its being a public facility and flooding of businesses due to excessive supplies of various additional features such as washing, playing, eating, sleeping and health care functions, issues of social resources and environment come to the fore, so it has reached a situation of red ocean that it is difficult to enter the market anymore. Taking these into account, this study focused on developing a thermal technology and design of the housing of an environment-friendly mobile home sauna, making the most use of the sauna’s fundamental purpose and settling it as a tourist product, analyzing the marketing research on the existing sauna and considering the recent housing trends and lifestyles for a new concept sauna. Thus, regarding its characteristics and utilization, it was designed smaller than 10 ㎡ (3 pyeong) so that it would be easy to install in any space and convenient to move. It can be installed in separate buildings and rest spaces such as country houses, resorts, pensions, camping grounds as well as outdoor houses, custom produced for a measure of pyeong that customers want so as to match up with the Enforcement Ordinance of the Agricultural Land Act in a concept of the farmer’s hut and kitchen, bathroom and bathroom can be installed inside according to an option. In addition, regarding its efficacy, in order to give environment-friendly healing effects, materials such as Hinoki Cypress, red clay and hardwood charcoal were used, a fixed indoor temperature of 70∼100°C was maintained by heating methods such as electromagnetic wave free, energy saving and low-power boiler, and it was made to have excellent effects on fatigue recovery, relieving stress, skin care and diet through far-infrared emission.

다산학 연구의 최근 동향과 전망 - 근대론의 시각을 중심으로

This paper analyzes the recent outcomes of research by first, dividing the topics into biography, philosophical thought, classical studies, ritual studies, and administrative studies, and second, reviewing the moot point of each topic, and finally, proposing questions and further suggestions. The main contents are as follows: 1) As far as Tasan`s writings are concerned, the process and dates of Tasan`s writings and of his posthumous writings, whether hand-copied or printed, are not clarified. The project of accumulating Tasan`s original writings cannot but fail without first clarifying this process. 2) In order to elucidate the developmental procedure of Tasan`s philosophical system, it should be examined in detail Sung-ho School`s response to Western Studies as well as changes in Chinese thoughts during Ming and Qing dynasties. 3) Since the beginning of 90`s, it has been pointed out that Tasan`s classical studies were significantly influenced by the administrative mind of King Jung(Jung-jo). The popular conclusion that Tasan`s views on administrative studies are slanted toward strengthening the sovereignty does not seem to have a strong line of reasoning. 4) So far as the argument that Tasan`s ritual studies tends to strengthen the royal power is concerned, there are two counter arguments. One is that Tasan`s main objective was to criticize the ritual studies after Han dynasty and to revive the original viewpoint of Confucius and Mencius(Jang Dong-woo). The other is that Tasan`s ritual studies not only have the aspect of strengthening the royal power but also the aspect of constraining the abuse of power(Park Jong-chun). Each of these counter arguments, however, cannot but limited, for it is based on a particular writing of Tasan. To uncover Tasan`s real attitude toward state affairs, a comprehensive research on Tasan`s writings relating to ritual studies should comebeforehand. 5) Regarding the character of Tasan`s administrative studies, which has been portrayed so far as the awakening stage of mdernity, two opposing viewpoints appear. One interprets that Tasan`s administrative studies do not contain in itself the essence of modernity, but in its attempt to synthesize disintegrating traditional systems, signs of what could be seen as the seed of modernity can be detected. The other is that Tasan`s state-community centered administrative studies were not a step to modernity, but a way of reforming the whole political structure that had been degenerated by premier-centered leadership. These researches, nevertheless, show a rather biased approach toward Neo-Confucianism; that is, they see Neo-Confucianism only from the aspect of sage-learning or of nature-mind theory, and tend to overlook the pre-modern aspect of Practical Learning scholars such as ritual studies. It reveals that they cannot unfetter themselves from premise that Tasan`s administrative studies are the step to modernity. All of these points are to be re-examined and researched further, without preconception of “step to modernity.” In order to re-interpret the historical development of East-Asian thoughts, it is urgently required to have a new perspective on human-community.

Cutaneous metastases rarely develop in patients with internal malignancy. Cholangiocarcinoma, a malignant cancer of the bile duct, is a relatively rare adenocarcinoma and has a poor prognosis. Few reports have mentioned cutaneous metastases of cholangiocarcinoma, and the most of them were due to direct tumor seeding by percutaneous procedures. Herein, we report a case of cholangiocarcinoma with distant cutaneous metastases in a 60-year-old man. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2009;54:342-345)

폴리머 시멘트 몰타르 포장재용 Carboxylated Styrene Butadiene 라텍스의 제조와 적용 특성

For the purpose of development of the latex suitable for polymer cement mortar, experiments on the preparation of carboxylated styrene butadiene latex by the method of the two-step emulsion polymerization were performed. Methyl methacrylate, methacrylic acid and acrylic acid were selected as carboxylic co-monomer, styrene and butadiene as monomer, sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate and sodium salt of lauryl sulfonate as anionic emulsifiers, and nonylphenoxy poly (ethyleneoxy) ethanol (n=10, 20, 40) as latex stabilizer. Potassium persulfate and sodium bisulfite were also used as redox initiator, and sodium monohydrogen phosphate and potassium carbonate as electrolytes. The effects of categories and concentration of carboxylic co-monomer, molecular weight control agent, crosslinking agent, and styrene/ butadiene monomer ratio on the characteristics of latex were investigated. Polymerization recipes for preparation of polymer cement mortar could be proposed. The prepared latexes were tested for the physical properties such as compressive and flexural strength when latexes were mixed with cement mortar. The results showed that the latex could be adapted to polymer cement mortar. Also, it was recognized that the compressive and flexural strength were exhibited 25.4% and 45.3% respectively higher improvement than the quality standards at 28 days curing time.

서북출신 엘리트의 해방 후 남한 관료 진출

이 글은 서북출신 엘리트들의 해방 후 관료 진출 양상을 살펴보는 가운데, 식민기시기 관료로서 행정체험이 어떻게 해방 이후에도 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보려는 시도다. 기존 연구에서는 서북출신의 일반적 특성으로 기독교-민족주의-반공주의를 초점에 두었다. 여기에는 서북지역을 기반으로 활동한 조선민주당계열의 정치지도자들 그리고 미국 유학경험을 지녔던 미군정기 고급관료들이 주요 대상이었다. 하지만 서북출신 관료, 특히 식민지 경찰들의 회고를 검토한 결과 만주와 조선 등지에서 일제에 협력했던 서북출신 엘리트들의 경험도 고려될 필요가 있다고 보았다. 이들은 식민지 경찰관료로서의 행정체험과 방공체험을 바탕으로 하여 해방정국기 냉전적 맥락 속에서 자신들의 경험을 선택적으로 재생시켰다. 이들의 식민지 행정체험은 해방정국기 제주4 3을 비롯하여 반공국가 만들기의 기술이자 자산으로 활용되기도 하였다. 결국 서북출신 엘리트들의 일반적 경향을 지역적 특성에 기초한 기독교-민족주의-반공주의, 나아가 친미로 규정하는 것에 더하여 서북출신 엘리트들의 행정체험을 함께 고려할 필요가 제기된다. This essay attempts to see how the experience of the colonial period bureaucrats of the northwestern elites affected after liberation. In previous researches, Christiannationalism- anticommunism was focused on the general characteristics of northwestern elites. These included political leaders of the Democratic Party of the North, based in the Northwest region, and high-ranking officials under US military government who had studied in the United States. However, as a result of examining the recollection of northwestern bureaucrats, especially colonial police officers, it is necessary to consider the experiences of northwestern elites who collaborated with Japan in Manchuria and Joseon. Based on the experience of administrative and anti-communist experience as colonial police officers, they selectively reproduced their experiences in the Cold War context of liberation. Their colonial administration experience was utilized as skill and asset of ‘anti-communist state’ including Jeju 4.3 of liberation state. Finally, in addition to defining the general characteristic of northwest elites as Christian-nationalist-anticommunism based on regional characteristics, and also as pro-US, it is necessary to consider the cases of histories of pro-Japanese elites.

인력개발과 노동자 인권 사이에서 - 1960년대 한국, 그리고 국제노동기구(ILO)

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is known as an international organization dedicated to promoting improvements in workers’ lives, enhancing labor conditions, and ensuring worker protection. This article sheds light on the activities of the ILO in South Korea during the 1960s, with a particular focus on its technical assistance provided to the Korea Productivity Center, Oce of Labor Aairs, and Medium Industry Bank. It reveals that the ILO’s approach was primarily oriented towards management and development based on the perspective of American modernization theory, prioritizing it over worker protection. Additionally, the article examines the political dynamics among the government, capital, and labor during the mid-1960s in the process of discussing South Korea’s accession to the ILO. In the gap between the ILO’s ideals and practice, only a few efforts focused on the implications of the ILO’s international instruments for workers’ human rights.
