        낙엽성 천포창 환자에서 발생한 양안 헤르페스 각막염 1예

        Purpose: To report a case of bilateral herpetic keratitis in a patient during glucocorticoid treatment of pemphigus foliaceus. Methods: A 71-year-old man presented with pain and epiphora in both eyes for a week. He had a history of pemphigus foliaceus for a 6-month period and was on glucocorticoid treatment. Anterior segment examination showed conjunctival injection and corneal geographic epithelial defects in both eyes. He was diagnosed with herpetic keratitis and was given a topical antiviral ointment. Results: One week after the initial antiviral treatment, the corneal epithelial defect of the right eye had fully improved, whereas the left eye showed increased stromal edema with enlarged epithelial defects. Oral antiviral agents were given with topical broad spectrum antibiotics, and artificial tears added for the left eye. A week later, the stromal edema of the left eye had decreased but the epithelial defect was stationary. Amniotic membrane transplantation was performed on the left eye. The corneal epithelial defects of the left eye healed remarkably. Conclusions: Herpetic keratitis is, in general, a unilateral disease. Bilateral herpetic keratitis is much rarer, and has been described mostly in patients with an altered immune system. The disease progress is known to be similar in both eyes in most cases of bilateral herpetic keratitis, whereas in this case, the fellow eye showed delayed healing. Amniotic membrane transplantation seems to be an effective treatment modality on persistent epithelial defect due to herpetic keratitis.

        Purpose: To evaluate the results of transpupillary thermotherapy combined with chemotherapy for the treatment of retinoblastoma. Methods: Retinoblastoma patients treated with chemotherapy and transpupillary thermotherapy from November, 2004 to October, 2007 were retrospectively reviewed. Local tumor control was assessed in terms of regression or recurrence, at 1 month after chemotherapy and each session of thermotherapy, as well as the final follow-up period. Result: Fifty-nine tumors were treated in 15 eyes of 11 children. Age at diagnosis was 7.4±6.9 months. Mean tumor diameter at the time of diagnosis was 2.2±2.1 disc diameters (DD) and mean tumor diameter at the time of initial thermotherapy was 1.8±1.7DD. Mean number of thermotherapy sessions for each tumor was 1.3±0.5. Total tumor regression was obtained for 96.6% of tumors after a mean follow-up of 22.3±10.7 months. The initial tumor size before thermotherapy was significantly smaller in the group of tumors showing total regression after the first session of thermotherapy. The time required for total regression after initial thermotherapy was related to the initial tumor size before thermotherapy. Conclusions: Transpupillary thermotherapy combined with chemotherapy is an effective modality for treating retinoblastoma, and the initial tumor diameter before treatment is a strong predictive factor of successful treatment response.         낭종제거술로 회복된 제3뇌신경 부분마비를 보인 안장위 유구낭미충증

        Purpose: To report a case of partial third cranial nerve palsy in a patient with suprasellar cysticercosis. Surgical removal of the cyst was followed by symptom improvement. Case summary: A 36-year-old man presented with binocular diplopia for 3 months. His best corrected visual acuities were 20/20 in both eyes, and both slit lamp and fundus examinations were unremarkable. The alternate prism cover test revealed four prism diopters (Δ) of exotropia and 4Δ of left hypotropia. Supraduction and adduction was mildly limited in the left eye. Pupil size was larger in the left eye and anisocoria was greater under bright light. Color test and visual field examination were normal. Neurologic examination showed a weakness of grade IV in the upper and lower extremities. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed a well-encapsulated cystic mass of homogeneous low intensity signal in the suprasellar area extending into the midbrain. Craniotomy and cyst removal were performed, and histologic findings were compatible with neurocysticercosis. Two weeks postoperatively the patient was free of diplopia and limb weakness. Conclusions: Neurocysticercosis of a suprasellar origin may produce mass effects on the midbrain, inducing focal neurologic deficits of partial third cranial nerve palsy along with limb weakness. Masses of suprasellar origin can be successfully treated by surgical removal of the cyst. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2009;50(4):640-644

        The demand for flexible devices including solar cells, memories and batteries has increased rapidly over the past decades. In most flexible devices, polymer-based materials are used to enable the mechanical deformations such as bending or folding. Shape Memory Polymers (SMPs) is a high molecular compound polymer with flexibility and shape recovery characteristics. In this work, flexible shape memory device was fabricated by simply coating the conducting material, carbon nano-tube (CNT), on a shape memory polymer. Furthermore, durability of the device under various type of mechanical deformations was assessed. It is believed that the result of this work will aid in realization of a stretchable and wearable electronic device for practical applications.

        테이블탑 디스플레이는 화면을 통하여 입출력이 이루어지므로 사용자와 시스템 간의 직관적인 상호작용이 가능하다. 본 논문은 현재 부족한 전통 소재의 콘텐츠 부재를 해결하기 위해 테이블탑 디스플레이 인터페이스를 사용하여 시스템과 상호작용을 통해 더 몰입할 수 있는 시스템을 서술한다. 본 논문에 사용된 테이블탑 디스플레이는 Rear DI((Diffused Illumination)기반 방식으로 제작되었으며, 요리 콘텐츠의 특성 상 다양한 터치 제스처를 사용하여 콘텐츠와 보다 폭 넓은 상호작용을 할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 요리 콘텐츠는 전통문화 학습, 협동 작업을 특징으로 쉬운 조작으로 누구나 흥미를 가질 수 있게 제작하였다. 향후 다양한 제스처 삽입과 상호작용을 추가하면 그 유용성이 향상될 것으로 기대된다.

        테이블탑 디스플레이 인터페이스를 활용한 전통 요리 에듀테인먼트 콘텐츠

        테이블탑 디스플레이는 대형 화면에 손동작을 통하여 입출력이 이루어지므로 사용자와 시스템 간의 직관적인 상호작용이 가능하다. 일반적으로 에듀테인먼트 콘텐츠는 사용이 편한 직관적 상호작용을 필요로 하기 때문에 테이블탑 디스플레이는 에듀테인먼트 콘텐츠 구현에 매우 적합하다. 본 논문은 이러한 테이블탑 디스플레이 인터페이스를 활용한 전통요리 에듀테인먼트 콘텐츠 제작 기술에 대해 설명한다. 이 기술은 요리에 필요한 손동작을 테이블탑 디스플레이에 터치 제스처 형식으로 직접 가할 수 있어 기존의 에듀테인먼트 콘텐츠의 한계를 벗어나 몰입강화와 협동 작업에 의한 향상된 교육효과를 얻을 수 있다. 제안한 기술을 콘텐츠로 구현하여 그 효과를 확인하였고 향후 다양한 제스처와 상호작용을 추가하여 그 유용성을 향상 할 계획이다. Tabletop display can take the benefits of the interactive device due to its possible user friendly input and display facilities simultaneously. Using this device, immersive edutainment content is effectively implemented with the convenient interactive interface. So considering this usefulness, tabletop display can be a very efficient device for constructing the edutainment system. In this paper, we describe a digitalized cooking edutainment contents based on the tabletop display interface. Enjoying our contents, we use the intuitive touch gestures for handling a variety of cooking actions. In the education effects such as the immersive strengthening and co-operation, the proposed system is more efficient interface than any other existing system. We implement the contents with the tabletop display and make sure about the efficiency of our proposed system. In the future, we will add more gestures to enhance the applicability of the intuitive interactive interface.

        Pastel Effect Simulation for Game Scenes

        우리는 게임 렌더링을 위해 파스텔 드로잉 효과를 시뮬레이션 하는 회선기반 방법을 제안한다. 연구 동기는 굵고 진한 스트로크 패턴, 문지르기 효과, 스트로크 겹침 등 파스텔 드로잉의 속성을 모방하는 것이다. 굵고 진한 파스텔 스트로크 패턴을 위해 우리는 직사각형 모양의 스트로크 패턴과 유사한 굵은 노이즈를 사용한다. 문지르기 효과는 노이즈를 두 단계로 적분하는 회선 모델을 제안한다: 첫 단계로 회선 방향에 수직한 노이즈를 적분하고, 이를 두 번째 단계에서 회선 방향으로 적분한다. 스트로크 겹침 효과를 구현하기 위해 우리는 누적 노이즈 필드(ANF, accumulated noise field)를 제안한다. 이는 각 레이어에 노이즈가 분포되어 있다고 가정하고, 서로 다른 레이어에 있는 스트로크 패턴의 색을 섞는 모델을 의미한다. 이러한 세 가지 개념은 회선기반 프레임 웍으로 통합되며 시각적으로 만족스러운 게임 장면의 파스텔 드로잉 효과를 보인다. Many competitive games offer various special rendering effects on their game scenes. Non-photorealistic rendering (NPR) presents fundamental techniques for the special rendering effects. Among various NPR techniques, we focus on a rendering effect that mimics pastel style, which has been rarely studied. We present a convolution-based approach that simulates pastel drawing effects for rendering game scenes. Our motivation is to mimic the properties of pastel drawing artworks such as thick and bold stroke pattern, smearing effect and stroke overlaying. The thick and bold pastel stroke pattern is mimicked by introducing bold noise which resembles a rectangle-shaped stroke pattern. The smearing effect is simulated by devising a convolution model that integrates noise in two-stages: the noise lying in the orthogonal directions of the convolution direction is integrated in the first stage and the results in the first stage are integrated in the second stage. The stroke overlaying is implemented by considering an accumulated noise field (ANF) that considers the distribution of noise in each layer and mimics the blending of colors of the stroke patterns lying in different layer. These three concepts are integrated in a convolution-based framework to present visually pleasing pastel drawing effects for game scene.

        예술적인 게임 동영상을 위한 연필 렌더링 기법

        In this paper, we present a technique for applying artistic effects to videos based on a pencil rendering technique. First of all, we propose a vectorized line generation method as a primary technique for solving temporal coherence problem which appears when applying some artistic effects to video. In addition, we propose progressive pencil rendering technique which controls detailed range of drawings from rough sketch to detailed drawing for video. Also, regarding that a real color pencil has a limited set of colors, we suggest limited color pencil rendering method. Furthermore we analyze hand drawing pencil drawings, compare them with rendering results and complement some weakness. A series of our works has a meaning of not only technological but also aesthetical consideration for pencil drawings.
