In the future, we plan to accurately identify interactions between parts and other parts.

분산 미디어 환경에서 뉴스 콘텐츠의 전파 경로 및 뉴스이용에 관한 연구

The way we use news is changing day by day. This change is driven by the everyday use of Internet portal media, the generalization of mobile devices, and the use of social media to connect with others. Newspapers, television, and radio, so-called legacy media, compete with new platforms to distribute news and are constantly losing users. News media have diversified and the new media environment has become more diverse. As the Internet began to be used in news distribution, it was expected to contribute to democracy in terms of diversity of news and diversity of opinions. However, search engine-based portal media, which has begun to intervene in the distribution of news content before the Internet news media becomes a new news provider, have become a new power in the news market by providing free news. In addition to these search-based and news aggregation portal media sites, various types of news apps and social media have recently started to provide news. IT companies such as Apple are also participating in news services. In Western society, media or agencies that play a role in providing news through the Internet are classified as digital intermediaries. This media environment is entirely different, where the consumption of news is diversified as Internet sources are added to newspapers, television, and radio. This study summarizes recent research examining the various distribution paths of news content in recent news media environment change, and examines the power of new news platforms by looking at both the level of usage and the perceived influence. In particular, this study introduces a model and survey results from the Committee on the Impact of Media Concentration (CIMC) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Korea, a representative study that examined news usage behavior and the influence of news while dealing with concepts related to the power of news platforms. In this study, the role of digital intermediaries such as portal media and social media is considered the most important factor in the issue of news use in the new media environment. However, more accurate information on the extent and size of news influence is needed to relieve the damage that may occur through news such as infringement of personal rights. How quickly a particular news article spreads can explain one dimension of the power of news platforms. However, the use of cognitive data through existing survey methods makes it difficult to consider this aspect. In order to understand diffusion time, it will be necessary to acquire traffic data that can confirm whether or not to use it in real time. Also, when discussing the power of news, the scope of accountability given to media companies and agencies that are responsible for news distribution should be addressed. This is directly related to the issue of measuring the distribution of news on portal media and social media and whether the power of news should be attributed to news producers or digital intermediaries. This study addressed the issue of whether social media should be identified as an independent media sector when we consider the power of news platforms. While news usage through social networking services like Facebook and messaging services like CacaoTalk continues to increase rapidly, further social discussion regarding the reliable measurement of news use and the influence of news platforms is needed. 이 연구는 분산 미디어 환경으로 지칭되는 최근의 뉴스 미디어 환경 변화 속에서 뉴스 콘텐츠가 유통되는 다양한 전파 경로를 진단하며 새로운 뉴스 플랫폼의 뉴스 전파력을 살펴보려한 최근의 연구를 정리했다. 뉴스 전파력을 특정한 뉴스를 특정한 매체를 통해 이용하는 이용의 차원과, 특정한 뉴스가 특정한 매체를 통해 전달됨으로써 발휘되는 영향력의 차원에서 살펴보았다. 특히 뉴스 전파력과 유사한 개념을 다루면서 뉴스 이용 행태와 영향력을 진단해 본 대표적인 연구인 여론집중도조사위원회의 모델과 조사 결과를 소개했다. 이 연구에서는 포털미디어, 소셜미디어와 같은 디지털 뉴스중개자(digital intermediaries)의 역할 증대가 분산 미디어 환경의 뉴스 유통에서 가장 중요한 핵심 요소라고 보았다. 향후 인격권 침해 등 뉴스를 통해 발생할 수 있는 피해의 정도를 파악하기 위해서는 뉴스 영향력의 범위와 크기가 어느 정도인가에 대한 조금 더 정확한 정보가 필요하다는 점이 지적되었다. 특히 전파력을 진단할 때 뉴스 전달의 책임소재와 관련하여 뉴스 유통을 담당하는 매체사, 기관에 부여하는 책무 범위에 대한 논의가 필요하다는 점이 제안되었다.

선거뉴스 선택적 노출이 의견보강 정보처리, 의견공고화 및 온라인 참여 활동에 미치는 영향 연구 : 2021년 4.7 서울시장 보궐선거를 배경으로

Among changes in the news media environment where selectiveness is emphasized, this research has concentrated on selective exposure to news articles related to candidates of by-election of Seoul mayor on 4.7, 2021. We investigated the characteristics of groups experiencing selective exposure. We analyzed selective exposure in terms of individual choices fit to political characteristics and selection possibilities according to articles’ political directions. About confirmation bias, we particularly focused on information processing and opinion polarization. The result of our research indicates that people choosing selective exposure were more likely to show a high rate of usage of all media, and were more likely to choose news information coherent to their own political characteristics. On the other hand, they had less experience in choosing news without particular perspectives and less political tolerance. When they were exposed to news articles coherent to their political characteristics, they actively engaged in online participation. Also, the tendency of opinion polarization appeared. We discussed the necessity to concentrate on opinion polarization effects that result from the interaction between selective exposure and political characteristics of news articles. 이 연구는 선택성이 강조되는 뉴스 미디어 환경 변화 속에서 실시된 2021년 4.7 서울시장 보궐선거를 배경으로 후보자 관련 뉴스 기사의 선택적 노출 현상에 주목했다. 선거 과정에서 실제로 선택적 노출을 한 집단의 특성을 정리하고, 뉴스 기사의 정치적 방향성이 만들어내는 효과를 선택적 노출과 연결하여 진단했다. 선택적 노출을 정치적 성향과 부합하는 정보의 개인적 선택과 기사의 정치적 성격에 따른 선택 가능성 측면으로 살펴보았고, 확증편향 현상과 관련하여 정보처리 과정에서 나타나는 의견보강 정보처리, 의견공고화를 진단했다. 연구결과, 선택적 노출 집단은 매체의 정치적 성향과 무관하게 모든 매체에 대한 이용정도가 높았으며, 정치적 성향과 동일한 관점으로 뉴스 정보를 선택한 경험도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 뉴스 미디어를 이용하는 동기로 사회적 상호작용과 이데올로기적 관점을 추구하는 정도가 높고, 선거 관련 이슈 관심도도 높은 것으로 관찰됐다. 한편 특정 관점이 없는 뉴스에 대한 선택 경험과 정치적 관용성은 낮은 것으로 발견됐다. 정보 제공이 개인의 정치적 성향에 따라 맞춤화되는 미디어 환경 변화 속에서 개인의 성향과 일치하는 뉴스 기사를 접했을 때 의견공고화의 경향성이 발견되었으며, 온라인 기사에 대한 공유 활동이 활발하게 이뤄지는 것으로 나타났다. 선택적 노출 여부와 이용하게 되는 뉴스 기사의 성격이 상호작용하여 발생하는 의견공고화 효과 등에 주목할 필요성을 논의했다.
