        An Autopsy-proven Case-based Review of Autoimmune Encephalitis

        Autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) is a type of immunoreactive encephalitic disorder and is recognized as the most prevalent noninfectious encephalitis. Nevertheless, the rarity of definitive AIE diagnosis through biopsy or autopsy represents a significant hurdle to understanding and managing the disease. In this article, we present the pathological findings of AIE and review the literature based on a distinct case of AIE presenting as CD8+ T-lymphocyte predominant encephalitis. We describe the clinical progression, diagnostic imaging, laboratory data, and autopsy findings of an 80-year-old deceased male patient. The patient was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis 6 months before death and received appropriate medications. A week before admission to the hospital, the patient manifested symptoms such as a tendency to sleep, decreased appetite, and confusion. Although the patient temporally improved with medication including correction of hyponatremia, the patient progressed rapidly and died in 6 weeks. The brain tissue revealed lymphocytic infiltration in the gray and white matter, leptomeninges, and perivascular infiltration with a predominance of CD8+ T lymphocytes, suggesting a case of AIE. There was no detectable evidence of viral infection or underlying neoplasm. The autopsy revealed that this patient also had Alzheimer’s disease, atherosclerosis, arteriolosclerosis, and aging-related tau astrogliopathy. This report emphasizes the pivotal role of pathological examination in the diagnosis of AIE, especially when serological autoantibody testing is not available or when a patient is suspected of having multiple diseases.

        김훈 소설에서 시간과 윤리 - 『칼의 노래』를 중심으로

        Novel is an art of time. Inquiry related to time has important meaning so that time could be a main figure in modern novel. According to Paul Ricoeur, human beings are ultimately temporal beings, so they have to ask for the meaning of time in order to know the meaning of existence of human beings. The meaning of time, that is, meaning of human beings who feel, experience, and act can be explained through story where history and fiction intersect. In this regard, aspects of time depicted in Kim Hoon ‘s historical novels are interpretations of the time of the ancestors who lived at a certain time on this land and those who live in the present. The aspects of time that are shaped in "The Song of the Sword", one of Kim Hoon ‘s historical novels can be discussed based on the understanding of time by Paul Ricoeur, not the contemporary and dichotomized western traditional view of time. Time theory of Paul Ricoeur is a spectrum formed with both extremities of cosmic time and experienced time, rather than view of time clearly divided in dichotomy. The third time created between both extremities is called as time of human beings. But the time is played variably between cosmic time and experienced time. The first type of the third time is a chronological time, this time is a humanized time by clock and calendar, and history is often told based on this time. The third time created by the fictional story is based on chronological time and conspiracies created on the basis of cosmic time and experienced time, but varies from one work to another and is played variably with a new time again. The third time created by "Song of Sword" is a swirling time. Yi Sun-sin fought desperately to defend the nation and protect people in the period of cruel war, Japanese invasions of Korea. His experienced time comes and goes to a certain point of the present and past complicatedly without pause as if it corresponds to disorder of the chronological time when the external event proceeds. When dizzy narrative flow where the point of time is specified in 61 times from the beginning to the end of the work is closely observed, you can summarize this vortex in the form of various relationships that occur between the times that Ricoeur identifies. There are four aspects that time relates to each other. That is, aspects in which chronological and experienced time are involved, aspects in which cosmic time and experienced time are unified, aspects in which cosmic time and experienced time are cut by destructive chronological time, aspects in which cosmic time, experienced time, and chronological are articulated. Each relational aspects of such four times can be time of human beings developed in the work. Especially, time of articulation which is the fourth aspects is connected to ethic told by 『Song of Sword』. The experienced time of Yi Sun-sin is time of body rather than inner time as shown on western thinking history or novel history. Of course, consciousness related to body appears together with senses of body but its consciousness is always related to senses of body. Ethic directed by Yi Sun-sin or works is associated with pain of body. This is because the ethic comes from pain of body and experience of death. In order to turn the chronological time of the confused and incomprehensible rulers into compatibility of an understandable life,the harmony among cosmic time, experienced time, and chronological time is best, but the best is hardly realized. The second best that can be taken by helpless individuals is the life and death to accept the time around but to maintain the unity of my life in relation to my time, and to have the ‘unbearable mind’ or ‘mind that cannot do something (不忍之心)’ for the others with absolutely helpless body. Ethic for the helpless about swirling human time. This is the very time and ethic of human beings living today that responds to the past which "Song of Sword" symbolizes.

        김훈 소설에서 공간과 미학 -『현의 노래』를 중심으로 -

        This study pays attention to the fact that space in 『A Song of Strings』 is embodied by three symbols and that implication of the space symbols is related to aesthetics which the literary language of 『A Song of Strings』 develops. The work draws up picture of human society in which spatial fundamental characteristics of interpersonal relation and an echo are being discarded. Furthermore, it embodies aesthetics of existence by meaning boundary and synecdoche coexisting through echoes of mutual mind in a ‘world without anything’ which also recognizes severalty of body and mind, distance of affirming differences, and causal relations even though all the living things are equal from the aspect that they have dynamic beauty based on body while they live as the finite without any source. Symbols can be classified into 3 categories such as external space of human being's living, internal space of human body-mind, and instruments as extension of human body. As a place which a human being acquire through active behavior or where human being's living is deployed, freedom and limit coexist in the place; that is space. Space in 『A Song of Strings』 first complies with the meaning of Bollnow and it is external space of human being's living. In order to preserve life maintaining values of body-mind in non-space of death where relations and distance are discard but one-sided freedom is expanded, 『A Song of Strings』 seeks possibility to restore characteristics of echoes kept by space and for causal existence principle to be developed to more positive aspect in connection with the 3rd spatial symbol instrument. Aesthetics of 『A Song of Strings』 is aesthetic exploration on which relationships with other beings in the space a human being has to have to restore characteristics of echoes kept by space and to open ‘a world without anything’ where causal existence principle is developed to more positive aspect and to share beauty of dynamic life. Through two literature languages of meaning-place and synecdoche, the work embodies possibility of the existence method and the spatial characteristics developed by such existence method. 공간은 경계 사이에서 형성되는 빈 곳으로 인간의 행위를 통해 획득되거나 인간의 삶이 전개되는 곳이다. 이러한 공간의 근원적 특성은 경계에 의해 가능한 울림이다. 이 근원적 특성에 의해 인간의 몸과 공간은 서로 분리되지 않으며 자아는 같은 공간에 떨어져 존재하는 사물이나 타아 들과 단절되지 않는다. 이처럼 울림은 전체성과 관계로부터 발생하지만, 이 전체성과 관계는 개별적 존재와 그들 간의 거리를 전제한다. 하지만 합리적 이성은 개별성과 거리를 정복함으로써 전체성과 관계를 왜곡시켜 울림이 가능한 공간을 폐기시켜 간다. 『현의 노래』는 우선 인간과 인간 사이 그리고 울림이라는 공간의 근원적 특성이 폐기되어 가는 인간 사회의 모습과 그로 인해 고통 받는 인간의 몸과 마음을 세 가지 공간 표상으로 그려낸다. 나아가 근원이 무(無)인 유한자로서 살아 있는 동안 몸을 토대로 하는 역동적 미(美)를 지닌다는 점에서 모든 생명체는 동등하지만, 그 몸과 마음의 개별성을 긍정하는 거리와 더불어 관계 또한 인정하며 상호 마음의 울림으로 공존하는 존재의 미학을 의경(意境)과 제유(提喩)의 언어로 형상화한다.

        한국 노년소설에 형상화된 노년 여성의 자아 정체감 -2000~2020년 계간 문예지 3종의 수록 작품을 중심으로-

        As average life expectancy continues to increase, old age has become an important topic not only in our society at large, but in literature as well. In particular, older women may face double discrimination in today’s society. Therefore, it is necessary to study the representation of ‘old women’ in our society through studying the representation of old and aging women in old-age novels using an intersectional approach. This study explored the sense of self-identity shared by aging women found in the 15 old-age novels included in the quarterly literary magazines Munhak Dongnae, Literature and Society, and Creation and Criticism from 2000 to 2020. Through this study, two aspects of self-identity could be confirmed. One aspect is the sense of extinction felt as a dying person and the sense of connection to family as a response and relief to it. The other aspect is a sense of shame and guilt, which are usually directly related to family and sometimes directly to society. These feelings, deeply held by many of the older women in the works, are ultimately based on the otherization of those who do not fit the ideal of 'eternal youth', which has been increasingly strongly pursued since modern times, in addition to the male-centered view of society that humans have long pursued. In an era where eternally young and capable virtual humans are replacing biological humans in more and more fields, the number of biological humans who can match the “eternal youth” we seek will be fewer and fewer each day. This is why we need to look back at the living conditions of those who our society devalues or shifts responsibility to, from an ethical level as well as a practical level. 평균 수명이 점점 더 길어지는 현대 사회에서 인간의 노년은 문학에서도 의미 있는 주제이다. 특히 우리 사회에서 노년 여성은 이중의 차별에 노출될 가능성이 있다. 따라서 노년소설에 형상화된 노년 표상에 대한 연구를 여성으로 한정하는 상호교차적 접근을 통해 우리 사회에서 구성한 ‘노년 여성’에 대해 연구해 볼 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 2000년부터 2020년까지 계간 문예지 『문학동네』, 『문학과사회』, 『창작과비평』에 수록된 노년소설 열다섯 편을 대상으로 작품 속 노년 여성들이 공유하는 자아 정체감을 탐구했다. 이를 통해 크게 두 측면의 자아 정체감을 확인할 수 있었다. 한 측면은 죽어가는 자로서 느끼는 소멸감과 이에 대한 반응이자 위안으로서 가족에게 느끼는 유대감이다. 다른 측면은 대개는 가족과 직접 연관되어 있고 더러는 사회와 직접 연관되어 있는 수치심과 자책감이다. 작품 속 노년 여성 다수가 깊이 품고 있는 이 감정들은 궁극적으로, 인간이 오랫동안 추구해온 남성 중심 사회의 관점에 더하여 근대 이후 점점 더 강하게 추구되는 ‘영원한 청년’의 이상에 부합하지 않는 이들에 대한 타자화에 기반한다. 영원히 젊고 유능한 가상 인간이 생물학적 인간을 점점 더 많은 분야에서 대체하는 시대에 우리가 추구하는 ‘영원한 청년’에 부합할 수 있는 생물학적 인간은 나날이 줄어들 것이다. 윤리적 차원에서뿐만 아니라 현실적 차원에서, 우리 사회가 혐오하거나 책임을 전가하는 이들이 처한 삶의 조건을 되돌아 보아야 하는 이유이다.

        저온발효에 의한 청주의 이화학적 특성 연구

        본 연구는 청주의 저온발효 제조시 멥쌀과 찹쌀 등 원료에 따른 이화학적 특성 비교와 누룩투입 비율에 따른 발효 및 청주 품질특성을 연구하는데 목적이 있다. 멥쌀과 찹쌀 청주의 발효온도를 10˚C, 18˚C, 25˚C로 달리하여 30-50일간 발효시 킨 청주의 발효특성 비교에서, 멥쌀과 찹쌀 청주 모두 발효온도가 낮을수록 발효시 pH가 낮았고 최종 술덧의 pH는 발효온도 에 따른 차이가 없이 각각 동일하였으며, 같은 온도에서는 찹쌀보다 멥쌀 술덧의 pH가 낮았다. 총산은 발효온도가 낮을수록 적게 생성되었으며 멥쌀보다 찹쌀로 제조된 술덧에서 많이 생성되었다. 멥쌀 술덧의 유기산은 18˚C에서 가장 적게 생성되었 고 찹쌀 술덧은 저온발효일수록 적게 생성되었다. 10˚C 저온에서 발효속도는 늦었으나 최종술덧의 알코올농도가 가장 높게 나타났으며, 멥쌀보다 찹쌀을 이용한 술덧의 알코올 발효가 빨랐고 최종 알코올농도도 높았다. 발효온도 10˚C에서 누룩투입 비율을 달리한 연구에서는 pH는 누룩투입 비율이 낮을수록 낮았으며 멥쌀보다 찹쌀이 다소 높았다. 누룩투입 비율이 낮을 수록 발효초반 가용성 고형분(˚Brix)이 낮게 나타났으며 알코올 생성 속도가 늦었고 최종 알코올 농도도 낮았다. 또한 누룩투 입비율이 낮을수록 구연산, 젖산은 적게 사과산 호박산, 초산은 많이 생성되었고, ethyl acetate는 적게 생성되었다. 저온발효 시 찹쌀 술덧이 멥쌀보다 알코올 생성 속도도 빨랐고 최종 알코올 농도도 높았다. This study was conducted to investigate the physiochemical characteristics of Cheongju prepared using different types of rice (rice and glutinous rice) according to addition rate of Nuruk during low temperature fermentation. The characteristics of Cheongju prepared using three different temperatures (10°C, 18°C, 25°C) were compared. After fermentation for 30-50 days, the pH of mash prepared at lower temperature was lower, as was that of mash made from rice relative to that prepared using glutinous rice. The total acidity was formed at lower temperature and generated in mashing prepared by glutinous rice. The organic acid content of mash made from rice at 18°C was lowest, while that of mash prepared from glutinous rice was lowest at 10°C. The fermentation speed was lowest at 10°C; however, low temperature fermentation resulted in the highest alcohol content. The mash prepared from glutinous rice showed faster fermentation than that made from rice. In addition, the pH was lower when lower levels of Nuruk were added and higher in mash made from glutinous rice than that prepared from rice. The lower addition rate of Nuruk also showed a lower sugar content and final alcohol content. The levels of citric acid and lactic acid were higher, while those of succinic acid, acetic acid, and ethyl acetate were lower when lower levels of Nuruk were added. The mash prepared from glutinous rice showed a higher alcohol content than that made from rice.

        일본 장애인 의무고용제도와 더블카운트 시스템의 고찰

        본 연구의 목적은 일본 장애인 고용기회의 확보와 확대를 위한 ‘의무고용제도’와 중증장애인 고용률 가산제도인 ‘더블 카운트 방식’의 현황과 문제점,과제에 대한 고찰을 통해, 우리나라 장애인고용정책의 시사점을 살펴보고자 함에 있다. 일본의「장애인 의무고용제도」는 제도 자체가 납부금 제도로서의 효과성은 약하며 노동능력이 고려되지 않고 해고제한이 없으며, 장애인 편견의 확대라는 문제점이 지적되고 있다. 그러나 복지행정 분야에서는 장애인 노동능력을 고려한「장애인자립지원법」을 통한 근로이행지원과 근로지속지원 제도화를 실시하며 특례자회사제도를 통해 장애인 고용촉진을 위해 노력하는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 중증장애인에 대한 ‘더블 카운트 방식’은 기업이 중증장애인고용의 의욕을 높이기 위한 제도설계로서 중증장애인 고용을 촉진하는 의도가 있다. 그러나 고용률 산정은 장애등급에 의해서만 판정되므로 노동능력을 기초로 판정되지 않는다는 점과 고용 후 승진 등과 같은 지위변동이 없는 문제가 나타났다. 이에 대해 장애등급에 의한 카운트가 아닌 업무의 특성에 맞고 장애인의 기능적인 면을 고려한 접근이 필요하며 근로지속에 의한 능력향상을 가미하는 등 기술적인 면의 개선책을 고려하고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 일본의 장애인고용정책을 통한 우리나라의 시사점으로는 의무고용률 미달성 기업에 대한 부담금 제도의 효과성을 제고하기 위한 자립지원법시행에 대한 고려와 더블카운트 산정방식에 있어서 장애인의 노동능력과 교육훈련의 차원에서의 접근 필요성을 제기할 수 있다. This study examined about ‘the mandatory employment system’ and ‘double count method’ out of Japan’s employment promotion policy for disabled persons and inquired into the problems and tasks of a system. Additionally, the double count method is a design of system for a company to increase a will to employ the seriously disabled persons, and has intention of promoting employment of seriously disabled persons as count become double. However, it is being indicated the tasks such as a point of failing to be monitored on the basis of labor ability just with judgment by the Serious Disability Class in calculating employment rate, and as what the position following employment is steadily lasting. Accordingly, the improvement policy in the technical aspect is being suggested such as adding improvements in ability firstly by disability class, pocket book related, and secondly, working continuity, through seeing opinions of organizations for the disabled. Also, there is a need of considering the count of employment rate by labor ability, not just by disability class, pocket book acknowledgement(medicine model).
