      • Prediction of Protein Structure and Interaction by GALAXY Protein Modeling Programs

        In this review, recently developed GALAXY protein modeling programs are introduced and advantages and disadvantagesof these programs for both program users and method developers are discussed. The GALAXY package consists of thetemplate-based modeling program GalaxyTBM, the loop/terminus modeling program GalaxyLoop, the model refinementprogram GalaxyRefine, the homo-oligomer prediction program GalaxyGemini, and the protein-ligand docking programGalaxyDock. These programs have been tested with some success in community-wide competition Critical Assessmentof Techniques for Protein Structure Prediction (CASP) experiments. For the development of these programs, modelingproblems have been posed as global optimization problems of designed energy functions. The free energy functionsof GALAXY have been carefully designed by combining physical chemistry principles and structure and sequenceinformation. Efficient conformational search methods such as conformational space annealing and triaxial loop closurehave been employed. Freely accessible web servers of the modeling programs are available at http://galaxy.seoklab.org,and some programs can be downloaded from http://galaxy.seoklab.org/softwares.

        일측성 성대마비로 발생한 삼킴 곤란 증례

        A 51-year-old man with a 10-day history of acute-onset dysphagia presented with inability to swallow anything orally. The patient was unable to swallow any radiopaque contrast medium; therefore, a videofluoroscopic swallow study could not be performed. Brain imaging, neurological findings, and initial endoscopy findings were normal. Neck computed tomography suggested left vocal cord paralysis. The patient was diagnosed with diabetes one year prior to presentation but did not receive any treatment. Insulin therapy during hospitalization controlled the patient’s blood glucose levels, and his symptoms improved without any sequelae. We present a rare case of vocal cord paralysis secondary to controlled diabetes. The initial endoscopic examination did not include thorough evaluation of the vocal cords; therefore, accurate diagnosis was challenging in this case.

        제동시스템 모듈러 설계 및 중소형 EV 아키텍처 적용 방안에 관한 연구

        Electric vehicles are widely produced from many car manufacturers around the world instead of internal combustion engine vehicle in order to respond a variety of environmental regulations. Also, they are applying for modular design method to develop plenty of the vehicles. And, both of these two issues will be an important trend to lead the future global automobile industries for a long time. In this paper, new brake architecture concept is proposed in order to respond to such a situation. First, physical interfaces between brake system like caliper, disc and other counter-parts are established for modular assembly. Second, we analyze effective factors of brake system for electric vehicles which need to reflect vehicle specifications such as total vehicle weight. Here, we consider ideal brake force by critical deceleration. Third, we simulate accumulated regenerative brake energy for two main driving modes to confirm to effectiveness for a variety of Electric Vehicle. Finally, we hope that it contributes to implement brake architecture for the development of Electric Vehicle platform through such a study.

        열부하 및 회생 제동 특성을 고려한 경형 친환경차의 제동시스템 개발에 관한 연구

        Recently, there is a big issue of downsizing on brake system according to fuel efficiency and regenerative braking cooperation control. Especially, small cars have improved in a variety ways such as electric vehicle and smart car compared to previous small cars. So, small brake system is strongly required in the car industry. A new small brake system for light compact vehicles was proposed in this paper. For this system, the solid type disc and caliper were newly developed. And the important design factors were considered to reduce brake size. First, we calculated the temperature rise of disc through heat capacity formula and CAE analysis. Second, we analyzed the housing and carrier stiffness of caliper to select the reasonable condition. Finally, the superiorities of the developed brake system were verified by heat capacity, consumption liquid level, braking feeling, judder, wear test and regenerative braking cooperation control analysis. A developed brake system is expected to be useful for brake system of light compact platform.

        Conformational Sampling of Flexible Ligand-binding Protein Loops

        Protein loops are often involved in diverse biological functions, and some functional loops show conformational changes upon ligand binding. Since this conformational change is directly related to ligand binding pose and protein function, there have been numerous attempts to predict this change accurately. In this study, we show that it is plausible to obtain meaningful ensembles of loop conformations for flexible, ligand-binding protein loops efficiently by applying a loop modeling method. The loop modeling method employs triaxial loop closure algorithm for trial conformation generation and conformational space annealing for global energy optimization. When loop modeling was performed on the framework of ligand-free structure, loop structures within 3 RMSD from the crystal loop structure for the ligand-bound state were sampled in 4 out of 6 cases. This result is encouraging considering that no information on the ligand-bound state was used during the loop modeling process. We therefore expect that the present loop modeling method will be useful for future developments of flexible protein-ligand docking methods.

        카본 세라믹 복합재 디스크의 벤트 구조 최적화를 통한 냉각성능 향상에 관한 연구

        Recently, use of composite materials has been increasing for body structures and chassis parts in the car industry because of weight reduction effect and excellent mechanical・thermal characteristics. However, application of composite materials in brake system is very difficult because it is hard to obtain enough brake performance due to low heat storage capacity of the composite materials. In this paper, we will present new carbon ceramic composite disc with high flow characteristic. To obtain this characteristic, new vent structures were designed by using ARIZ method and substance-field model analysis. The flow effect of these vent structures on the brake performance was verified by pugh matrix and cooling test. The test results show improvement of cooling performance up to 30℃. Finally, These results will improve brake the reliability of the brake performance for the high performance vehicles and electric vehicles.

        The Military Tactical Communication technology for effective network-centric warfare is developing. Targeting broadband wireless transmission, core technology for connection, and Transmission technology that secure survivability under High-speed Movement environment. On the one hand, Tactical data communication system that reflects military characteristic is developing on the base of Legacy communication equipment which is used in the field. Because almost every military units in the field have used voice to communicate which lower efficiency of operation, they have made effort to Substitute voice communication which delays military Operation Tempo to digital communication. The Communications environment of troops in Forward edge of battle field area is very poor. Especially in terms of limited frequency allocation and bandwidth. Therefore, improving the efficiency of frequency is essential for Military Tactical Communication. This paper is about The Data Compression Method for increase of Efficiency in Tactical Data Communication over Legacy Radios which are UHF, VHF, HF Radio. I proposed and proved the most efficient Data Compression Method that reflects military characteristic, after analyzing the experimentation, which simulate CAS(Close Air Support mission) data transmission between Pilot and TACP.

        The luxury car market has been steadily growing for the last 10 years and it might keep expanding in the future. Furthermore, it is expected to be a very competitive market because luxury cars are considred to reflect the technology level of motor companies. For this reason, it is very important for motor companies to improve performances of luxury vehicles. However, it takes years for the companies to increase the technology level for the high performances. In this paper, we aim to analyze the technologies for high quality brake perfomances through investigation of two luxury vehicle models and develop a new high performance brake system. First, we found out a variety of effective factors for the high performances. Second, we conducted the brake performance analysis to figure out the relationship between brake effort and brake feeling. Finally, we develped the new brake system using carbon ceramic composite materials to satisfy the high quality brake performances.

        레거시 라디오 기반의 UMPC 전술 데이터 링크 Push 프레임워크

        Recently, there is on-going research about tactical data link system based on the legacy radio. Tactical data link based on legacy radio is operated mostly in narrow bandwidth under 25khz. Communicating traffics in nodes participated at network need to be minimized for distributing tactical data in narrow bandwidth. In addition, the data distributing structure is necessary for distributing tactical informations such as a situation awareness and so on to war fighters. However, conventional server-client system wastes a lot of time to obtain information for war fighters as user uses pull system to gather necessary information by seeking it one by one. Especially, the fighter pilot is supposed to dedicate into a situation awareness and fight mission in every seconds but seeking information of a user terminal while aircraft maneuvering affects as obstacle to concentrate engaging hostiles. therefore, push technology, the tactical data distributing system, is necessary for war fighters to receive fixed tactical data automatically without putting attention to it. This paper propose the UMPC tactical data link push framework. the UMPC tactical data link is a tactical data link system based on the legacy radio. Proposed push framework is verified by composing experiment environment and testing.
