This paper is to investigate the influence of SHCC and RC beams (prepared without EXA or with EXA) has been compared through flexural of beams measurements. A synergistic effect on the strain-hardening and deflection has been observed when the EXA have been used.

Strain-hardening cement-based composite(SHCC) are materials with strain hardening behavior through energy dissipation. It is concerned that initial shrinkage crack of SHCC due to the rich mixture. In SHCC, chemical shrinkage is larger than drying shrinkage due to using a large amount of W/B, and this is a factor deteriorating the quality of structures. Therefore, EXA has been suggested to improve SHCC performance in terms of lower risk of cracking related to shrinkage. SHCC and RC beams (prepared without EXA or with EXA) has been compared through flexural of beams measurements. A synergistic effect on the strain-hardening and deflection has been observed when the EXA have been used.
