After our investigation on the improvement of welding techniques in Korea under the contract by the MOST-USOM Research Project Code No 660∼19, it has been already reported as foregoing section that a title has fundamental study on the arc weld for the steel plates(-on the mechanical properties and welder qualification-). This is a secondary report succeeding to it. Therefore, to get the results for tensile and impact values for the deposited metal from their specimens, when the generally rolled mild steel plates are welded with four kind of domestic covered arc electrodes, prepared tests are experimentally carried out. Then, such the results gained have been discussed. As one of the performance of it, the tensile strength σ_B and yielding point σ_y are presented higher values more than its standards, while the elongation are not given satisfactory values in several data and the impact values are considered to keep its standards except the results of two specimen.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of various cool-down exercises on muscular strength and endurance. After receiving a treadmill training for main exercise, the subjects conducted isotonic and isometric cool-down exercises four times for three weeks. Isotonic exercise with leg press of 10kg was repeated by 20 times and isometric exercise was conducted at flexion of hip joint and knee joint with leg press of 10kg by maintaining it for 6 sec and resting for 2 sec by 20 times. Muscular strength after exercise was measured with 1 RM by times and muscular endurance with maximum repetition frequency using time to keep for loading the weight of 10 RM and 65% of maximum muscular strength. As a result of comparing and analyzing measured values, exercise recovery shape of isotonic and isometric cool-down group were more effective than rest recovery shape of the control group. The isometric cool-down group was more effective than isotonic cool-down group. In conclusion, isometric exercise was more effective than isotonic exercise or simple rest on muscular strength and endurance.
Reflective Characteristics Caused by Varying of the Core Thickness in a Hollow Optical Waveguide

We present the reflective characteristics obtained by varying the air core thickness of a hollow optical waveguide. A 3.56 μm-thick step was formed on one side of a slab hollow waveguide and the reflective characteristics were investigated. Total internal reflection was observed at an angle of 17˚ between the boundary surface and the incident light, which was a fairly large angle of incidence. In this case, the thickness ratio (D₁-D₂/D₁) of the hollow waveguide in the boundary surface was equal to or larger than 0.5. The reflective characteristics are proven to be controllable by using the ratio of the air-core thickness of the two regions in the hollow waveguide. 천마의 흑질 내 도파민성 신경세포 보호 효과에 대한 단백체학적 분석

Objectives : Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder threatening the quality of life and highly occurred in over 65 years old. Gastrodia elata Blume (GEB), a traditional medicine used for the treatment of headache and convulsion, has been reported to have neuroprotective effect. This study was designed to investigate the neuroprotective effect of GEB and the proteomic changes in the substantia nigra (SN) of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-treated mice. Methods : Male eleven-week-old C57BL/6 mice were intraperitoneally injected with 30 mg/kg of MPTP at 24-h intervals for 5 days. Two hours after the daily MPTP injection, the mice were orally administered 800 mg/kg of GEB extract, which continued for 7 days beyond the MPTP injections, for a total of 12 consecutive days. Two hours after the final GEB administration, the brain samples were collected, and dopaminergic neuronal death and proteomic changes in the SN were evaluated. Results : GEB prevented the MPTP-induced dopaminergic neuronal death and regulated the expression of 11 proteins including thimet oligopeptidase, T-complex protein 1, glycine tRNA ligase, and pyruvate kinase isozymes M1. Conclusions : GEB prevents MPTP-induced dopaminergic neuronal death by regulating the proteins in the SN.

One of the problems in practical applications of the dynamic stability characteristics and flying qualifications and adaptive controls of aircraft is to vary the mass, components of inertia tensor and C.G. position in fore and aft. However, the effects due to such variations are only considered in the problems of design and control of aircraft, partially. Therefore, in this study, 1). Mass parameter vector ??⊂Ω(its apreciable domain composed of every parameters) to correspond their time-varying elements was newly defind, and then introduced into the equations of motion. 2). The result of root locus solution to the time-varying longitudinal characteristics equation was represented to be able to consider a locus of ??: a set of roots ⊂?: root space as a set of images due to the mapping of ??. 3). Also, the result of a calculation for the example airplane was discussed on the basis of above analytical method.
