Dysphagia occurs frequently as an accompanying sign of neurodegenerative disorders. Degeneration of the dorsal vagal motor nucleus may cause esophageal dysphagia. Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder of unknown etiology. Dysphagia is one well-recognized complication of MSA and is closely related to the prognosis of patients. However, the swallowing function of patients with MSA has not been explored systematically. We experienced a 73-year-old male who had recurrent syncope with dysphagia. Neurologic examinations revealed a cerebellar dysfunction and autonomic function tests were abnormal. We diagnosed this case as MSA. The esophagogastroscopy was normal and the esophageal manometry revealed low pressure of the upper esophageal sphincter and lack of normal peristalsis. Barium esophagography showed ineffective primary peristalsis and weak tertiary peristalsis. We considered that diagnosis of dysphagia caused by degeneration of autonomic cranial nerves. Despite of the improved water purification system, the decreased use of aluminum based phosphate binding gels and periodic determination of serum aluminum levels, aluminum accumulation cannot be eliminated. We experienced a case of acute encephalopathy in aluminum intoxication with subdural hematoma presenting myoclonic jerk and mental change in a end stage renal failure. She was treated succesfully with low dose DFO treatment for 3 month.

유전자 전달체 가운데 비바이러스성 전달체인 PAMAM 덴드리머의 일종인 cPAMAM G4를 사용하여 분자의 표면에 GABA와 히스티딘, 아르기닌을 도입해 새로운 유전자 전달체를 합성하였다. cPAMAM G4-GABA-HR 최종합성물은 핵자기 공명 분광기를 이용해 합성률을 확인하였다. 전기영동을 이용하여 폴리머와 pDNA간의 결합력을 확인하였고, 폴리머와 DNA의 복합체에 환원제를 처리하여 폴리머의 pDNA 방출 능력을 확인하였다. 나노 입자 분석기와 원자력 현미경을 이용하여 pDNA와 폴리머 복합체의 크기와 모양을 분석하였다. HeLa 세포주를 이용한 WST-1 assay를 통해 폴리머의 세포 독성을 확인하였고, 동일한 세포주를 이용한 luciferase assay를 통해 유전자 전달 효율성을 확인하였다. Polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer are well known non-viral vectors for gene delivery application. Especially, PAMAM conjugated with amino acids have enhanced cell uptake capability and low cytotoxicity compared to other non-viral, vectors. Moreover cystamine core PAMAM has an ability to degrade inside low pH of endosome leading to ease release of biomolecules. In present work, we designed γ-amino butyric acid (GABA), histidine, arginine modified cystamine core PAMAM. GABA has four carbon chains that plays a role as flexible linkers, hence easy interaction with cell membrane. cPAMAM-GABA-HR synthesis was confirmed by 1H NMR. We performed gel retardation assay, DNA release phenomenon of cystamine core PAMAM using DTT. We measured size of polyplex by DLS and AFM. Cytotoxicity was examined by WST-1 assay and transfection efficiency was confirmed using reporter plasmid in HeLa cells.

Interior finishing materials are known as main VOCs and formaldehyde emission sources in residential buildings. The interior finishing materials are usually comprised of several layers with different emission properties, which complicates the emission patterns of the finishing materials. Thus, experiments on composite finishing materials and each of layers are needed to understand the emission characteristics of interior finishing materials. Results indicate that composite finishing materials have the various emission characteristics according to compositions of the materials and kinds of contaminants. Mostly, the emission rates of composite materials are higher than that of the single layer materials. The main reason is assumed to be rapid diffusion of contaminants from the bottom layer material into the top layer material.
이중언어능력의 조선족 아동과 청소년의 한글, 한자, 한글·한자혼합문 형태의 덩이글 이해에 관한 연구

This study focused on the comprehension of texts written either in Korean script (Hangul) or Chinese script (Hanja). For this purpose, we measured the reading time and the correct response in text comprehension tasks with 104 Korean-Chinese children who were either 10 or 19 years old. There was a main effect of script : The reading time of Hanja texts was shorter than that of Hangul or Hangul•Hanja mixed texts. But the older subjects who spent the same reading time in both Hangul and Hanja texts showed the longer reading time in Hangul•Hanja mixed texts revealing the interaction between age and script. The correct response rate on the comprehension task was the highest in Hangul text. The results were discussed in relation to the independent dual language processing systems in Korean-Chinese.
