The purposes of this research were to analyse comparison of physical fitness and bone strengths of preschool children. Total of 96 children (45 males, 51 females) were participated and children`s age range was 4 to 6years old. Results were as follow. First, the results which the age groups` body composition and BMR of the babyhood children indicated that the 5 years old group appeared higher than the 4 years old group and 6 years old group was higher than 5 years old(p<.01) as expected. In BMI, 6 Years old children appeared higher than 5 years old only in the female group(p<.05). In the BMR, 5 Years old female group appeared higher than 4 and 6 years old group (p<.001). Second, in comparison of physical fitness and bone strengths, the age groups did not show any statistically significant difference in all measurement items in case of the male group. The female group, however, showed statistical differences in the balance test (one leg standing with eyes closed), grip strength, and whole body strength(p<.001). In case of bone strengths, all gender groups did not have any statistically significant difference.

This study investigates a theory of literature envisioned by Maurice Merleau-Ponty, a philosopher of phenomenology who succeeded and revised the basic ideas of Husserl's transcendental phenomenology. Although Merleau-Ponty can rarely be thought of as a theorist of literature, it is known that his philosophy has a lot to say something about art and literature. Actually, he tried to pursue his goal of theorizing the phenomenology of perception by way of a range of literary and artistic thematics. Thus, art and literature become an indispensable part of his philosophical considerations, a fact evinced by his own formulation that the task of philosophy cannot be separated from the task of literature. After briefly reviewing the key concepts of perception and body shown mainly in his magnum opus The Phenomenology of Perception, this study goes on to reveal the ways in which his theory of perception extends to the realm of art and literature. In so doing, this study is giving a special attention to Merleau-Ponty's idea of language which is formulated as a division between indirect language and algorithm. Finally, we will see the epistemological implications of the so-called his philosophy of ambiguity, an expression that is related to the nature of his phenomenology of perception as a negative confrontations of philosophy of reflection.

성인여성의 복부지방 분포에 따른 신체구성 및 건강관련 체력의 특성

In adults, obesity and abdominal obesity, especially visceral fat area, were associated with prevalence of metabolic syndrome. The increase of visceral fat area could be arise the depression of physical capacity. This study investigated the comparison of body composition and physical fitness according to abdominal fat distribution in adult women. Subjects were consisted of obese group (N = 19) and non-obese group (N = 21), as BMI equal to or greater than 25 kg/m². Additionally, subjects were divided into groups according to waist circumference (WC) and ratio of visceral fat area to subcutaneous fat area (VSR), respectively. Body composition and physical fitness were measured by body weight, %fat, WC, WHR, grip strength, back muscular strength, sit up, sit & reach, and physical efficiency index (PEI) of Hravard step test. Abdominal subcutaneous fat area, visceral fat area, and VSR were measured by abdominal CT. Body weight, BMI, and WC of obese group were significantly higher than non-obese group, and abdominal obesity and visceral fat type were significantly higher than femoral-thigh obesity and subcutaneous fat type, respectively. Some subjects of non-obese group as BMI showed the increase of visceral fat area and category of abdominal obesity type. In these results, multiple analysis of obesity as BMI, WC, and VSR could be suggest a critical sign for the analysis of negative body fat distribution. Significant depression of physical fitness could not find as group division according to BMI, WC, and VSR. Although PEI of Harvard step test could not suggest a significant difference, subjects of visceral obesity showed the decrease of PEI. But we could not find the critical point in negative effect of visceral fat accumulation on physical fitness.

Emmanuel Levinas, a French philosopher with a Jewish background, has made a great impact on the diverse branches of current academic society such as literature, theology, politics, feminism, and inter-disciplinary studies through his unique conception of ethics. Mainly due to his emphasis on the word ethics, he is regarded by some commentators as the true originator of the “ethical turn” of contemporary thought. Indeed, in these days of post-critique we are much exposed to ethical terminology like death, responsibility, justice, and so on. In this respect, it is said that all of us are more or less indebted to Levinas. This study contends that the best way to look into Levinasian ethics and its implications is by way of the philosophical works of Jacques Derrida, who has also left an enormous influence on the post-war academic scene with his unique brand of philosophical thought called deconstruction. This is not only because as students of Husserlian phenomenology and Heideggerian ontology both Levinas and Derrida have much in common in their academic origin, but because they interacted with each other academically by writing on the other’s works, sometimes critically and other times supplementarily. By doing so, this study tries to investigate the theoretical relations that their interactions represent. This study emphasizes that, in spite of lots of common factors and traits that their works show, between Levinas and Derrida there lies a gap that cannot be filled with such words as influence, reception, recognition, and so on. This fact is derived from the fact that Levinas’ ethics and Derrida’s deconstruction act onthe two different levels of investigation: the former basically on thematics, the latter on a strategy of reading. However, each of them gave their counterparts a reflective chance to look back upon their confrontations with philosophic dilemma concerning the (im)possibility of philosophy.

유랑, 림보, 집단적 기억 : 카리브 군도와 카마우 브래스웨이트(Kamau Brathwaite)의 귀향여정

카리브 군도가 경험해 온 특별한 식민주의 역사와 그것이 함유한 독특한 지리학적 의미에 힘입어 근래에 들어와 카리브해 연구는 괄목할 만한 성장을 보여 왔다. 이제 카리브해 연구는 단순한 지역학의 한계를 넘어서서 인문학의 지평을 새롭게 열어줄 수 있는 가능성을 제공하고 있다. 이러한 배경에는 카리브 군도는 근대화 과정 속에서 동과서가 교차하는 대표적인 혼종적 공간으로 자리잡아왔다는 인식이 깔려있다. 이 지역에서 배출된 많은 작가들은 무엇보다 카리브인의 정체성을 밝히고자 했고 나아가 카리브 군도가 갖는 특별한 의미를 그들의 문학에 담아내고자 했다. 그 중 카리브군도 바베이도스 출신의 카마우 브래스웨이트는 예술 창작과 학문적 글쓰기의 경계를 허물었고, 글쓰기의 엄격한 규범을 파괴했으며, 또 파격적인 실험정신을 자신의 작품에 도입한 영미권 카리브 군도의 대표 작가로 꼽힌다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그의 문학과 학문은 데릭 월콧, 로지 래밍 및 윌슨 해리스의 업적에 비해 비교적 소홀히 취급되어 온 것이 사실이다. 본 연구의 출발점은 이제 브래스웨이트의 업적에 대한 정당한 평가가 요구된다는 인식과 함께 한다. 이 연구는 브래스웨이트가 남긴 많은 저술 가운데 특별히 이론적 저술에 초점을 맞춰 카리브 군도의 특별한 의미를 추적하고자했던 그의 작업이 갖는 학문적 의미를 살펴보려 한다. 브래스웨이트는 크레올화, 해류변증법, 구어性, 민족어, 문화전이와 같은 다양한 개념들을 동원해 카리브 군도에 각인되어 있는 카리브性을 추적하고 있다. 그가 구사한 이 용어들은 한 때 탈식민주의 문화이론을 장식했던 스피박의 서벌턴(subaltern)이나 호미 바바의 양가성과 혼종성 이상으로 연구자들의 관심을 집중시키고 있다. 과연 그가 동원한 다양한 개념들은 어떤 변별력을 갖고 있으며 또 그것들은 카리브 군도의 특별한 의미를 밝히는 적합한 잣대를 제공할 수 있는가? 그의 아프리카 중심주의는 작금의 탈경계와 탈이념의 시대에 걸맞은 충분한 학문적 설득력을 지닐 수 있는가? 이러한 의문들을 토대로 이 연구는 브래스웨이트의 이론적 저술이 관여하고 있는 핵심 내용들을 평가해보고자 한다. 나아가 본 연구는 표면상으로는 카리브 해 지역연구와 브래스웨이트라는 한 사람의 작가 연구를 표방하고 있지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 그의 주요 저술이 관여하고 있는 금세기 지구화 시대의 근본적인 문제들(예컨대, 민족, 국가, 지구화, 이산, 문화정체성 등)을 보다 새로운 각도에서 조망함으로써 인문학 연구의 외연을 확장하고자 기대한다. Mainly due to the unprecedented colonial history that the Caribbean archipelago once experienced and the nuanced geographical implications that it represents, in these days Caribbean studies has blossomed to its prime moment. Now, Caribbean studies even offers a possibility that it can open a new horizon for humanities studies itself. Behind this new academic trend there lies a recognition that the Caribbean archipelago has become a special hybrid space where East and West met and clashed each other amidst the turmoil of modernity. The Barbadian Kamau Brathwaite is one of the most representative Anglophone Caribbean writers who broke the boundary between artistic creation and academic writing, went beyond the conventional systems of writing, and introduced a highly experimental form of writing into his poetry. However, it is true that his writing, literary and theoretical, has been rather treated as lightly in the academic circle, compared with those of Derek Walcott, George Lamming, and Wilson Harris. The present study is primarily motivated by the writer’s idea that now is time to pay attention to Brathwaite’s writings more attentively. Focusing upon Brathwaite’s theoretical writings specifically, this study tries to investigate what kind of academic significance his life-long endeavors (the endeavors to investigate the meaning of the so-called Caribbean-ness) have. Brathwaite has long traced the special meanings of Caribbean-ness lurked behind the terms like creolization, tidalectics, orality, nation language, and transculturation. These terms are now asking researchers’ special attention, as Homi Bhabha’s hybridity and Gayatri Spivak’s subaltern once did in the field of post-colonial studies. How, then, are Brathwaite’s key concepts different? Can they be a meaningful standard for investigating the special meaning of the Caribbean archipelago? How do we evaluate Brathwaite’s Afocentricism? Can it be justified as a theoretical paradigm in the age of current globalization? With these questions in mind, the writer is going to deal with the key issues that Brathwaite’s writings are mainly concerned with. In so doing, this study hopes to be an eye-opener for the issues that his writings suggest in terms of modernity and globalization, the issues like diaspora, nation, ethnicity, cultural identity, and so on.

태권도 유단자의 품새 유형에 따른 운동강도의 비교

The present study performed the comparison of exercise following to the types of poomse of black belt players in taekwondo, for the development of applicable exercise program through taekwondo poomse. Subjects were consist of 9 college-aged male of black belt players in taekwondo. Test items measured heart rate, blood lactate concentration, oxygen uptake, and energy cost. Blood lactate concentration of koryo poomse showed a significant (p<0.05) higher than geumgang, taeback, and pyongwon poomse. The ratio of heart rate to maximal heart rate showed the range of 39.46-47.62%. Although the ratio of heart rate to maximal heart rate showed no significant difference among 4 types of poomse, the tendency of the ratio of heart rate to maximal heart rate in koryo poomse showed a higher value than the other types. Therefore it could be suggested that koryo poomse showed the highest exercise intensity among 4 types of poomse. The factors of the delay of exercise duration and high frequency of kick movement in koryo poomse could be arised these results. These results could be suggested the important basis of development of scienticfic poomse in taekwondo, and the repeated poomse program of taekwondo could be the applicable exercise program for the improvement of physical fitness in general people.
