A Dual-Mode 2.4-GHz CMOS Transceiver for High-Rate Bluetooth Systems

This paper reports on our development of a dual-mode transceiver for a CMOS high-rate Bluetooth system-onchip solution. The transceiver includes most of the radio building blocks such as an active complex filter, a Gaussian frequency shift keying (GFSK) demodulator, a variable gain amplifier (VGA), a dc offset cancellation circuit, a quadrature local oscillator (LO) generator, and an RF front-end. It is designed for both the normal-rate Bluetooth with an instantaneous bit rate of 1 Mb/s and the high-rate Bluetooth of up to 12 Mb/s. The receiver employs a dualconversion combined with a baseband dual-path architecture for resolving many problems such as flicker noise, dc offset, and power consumption of the dual-mode system. The transceiver requires none of the external image-rejection and intermediate frequency (IF) channel filters by using an LO of 1.6 GHz and the fifth order onchip filters. The chip is fabricated on a 6.5-mm2 die using a standard 0.25-μm CMOS technology. Experimental results show an in-band image-rejection ratio of 40 dB, an IIP3 of -5 dBm, and a sensitivity of -77 dBm for the Bluetooth mode when the losses from the external components are compensated. It consumes 42 mA in receive π/4-diffrential quadrature phase-shift keying (π/4-DQPSK) mode of 8 Mb/s, 35 mA in receive GFSK mode of 1 Mb/s, and 32 mA in transmit mode from a 2.5-V supply. These results indicate that the architecture and circuits are adaptable to the implementation of a low-cost, multi-mode, high-speed wireless personal area network.

Biofilm contains heterogeneous three-dimensional structures composed of extracellular polymeric substance (EPS), which are greatly influenced by flow conditions. Here, we report a microfluidic platform highly suitable for nanoscale investigation of biofilms formed under laminar flows. This is possible because biofilms formed on glass beads having an average diameter of about 200 μm in the microfluidic device can be easily taken out and located for imaging under high resolution microscopes, such as atomic force microscope (AFM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Escherichia coli formed biofilms in the device at various flow conditions (0-50 μL min−1) for several days. SEM showed nanopores (14-100 nm) in biofilm at lower flow rates (0.5 and 5 μL min−1) only at within 3 days, while such small pores were not observed at higher flow rates (50 μL min−1) during the entire culture period (0-5 days). AFM results showed that the surface coverage and roughness of biofilm increased as the flow rate increased. These results suggest that like turbulent flow regime flow rates under laminar flow regime greatly influence on the morphology of biofilms in both micro- and nanoscales., SEM

이번 증례는 드문 예지만 항암치료를 위해 투여한 스테로 이드가 주기적 저칼륨성 마비의 유발 인자로 작용할 수 있음을 보여준다. 미만성 거대B세포 림프종의 치료 중 주기적 저칼륨성 마비가 있는 경우 칼륨 수치에 대한 측정과 칼륨 보충이 필요하다. Hypokalemic periodic paralysis is a rare disorder characterized by sudden onset of weakness and low serum potassium levels. We report a case provoked by combination chemotherapy including prednisolone. A 23-yr-man, diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, received chemotherapy. He developed significant weakness in upper and lower extremities during chemotherapy, and his serum potassium level was 1.7 mmol/L. Potassium replacement restored the weakness. Further workup revealed that prednisolone had provoked hypokalemic paralysis. As prednisolone triggered an attack of hypokalemic periodic paralysis, it should be administered with caution, particularly in patients with periodic paralysis. (Korean J Med 2014;87:625-629)

TAlong with many other new paradigms being established in hotel culinary departments, the issues of safety in both of handling and production of food have become the major positive changes, not only for customer satisfaction, but also for maximizing the business profit through the trust from customers. This research pulled out the followings as the final conclusion of the study on the benefit of implementing HACCP. First, the systematic and organized sanitation management through HACCP can satisfy customers needs on food safety. Second, through HACCP and its implication, the assurance on food quality could be maintained. Third, through the implication of HACCP, the business is able to earn the competitiveness worldwide. Fourth, HACCP plays a major role in cost saving through procedure oriented food safety management. Fifth, through the companies advertisement or marketing activity on HACCP, companies overall brand image could be upgraded which impacts the business volume.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the behavior and seismic performance of tube structures with buckling-restrained braces by the nonlinear static procedures. For this purpose each tube structure which various characteristics are used. And this values used comparative analyze for seismic performance and alleviate shear lag according to the location of brace, it gives basic information to preliminary design of high rise building.
