The effect of inclination angle on the wet surface heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of brazed aluminum heat exchangers is experimentally investigated. Three samples having different fin pitches (1.25, 1.5 and 2.0 ㎜) were tested. Results show that heat transfer coefficient is not significantly affected by the inclination angle. However, the friction factor increases as the inclination angle increases with negligible difference between the forward and backward inclination. Heat transfer coefficient increases as the fin pitch increases. However, the friction factor are the largest at the smallest fin pitch (P<SUB>f</SUB> = 1.25 ㎜), Possible explanation is provided considering the condensate drainage.

Simulated anncaling은 Gibbs의 canonical ensemble에 해당되는 문제에 적용된다. Canonical ensemble은 입자의 수가 변화되지 않는 경우를 말하며, 입자의 수가 변환되는 경우는 grand canonical ensemble의 문제이다. Grand canonical ensemble에 기반을 두어 기존의 simulated annealing을 확장하였다. 이 확장된 알고리즘을 사용하여 확장된 (augmented) TSP(traveling salesman problem)와 선박조파저항 추정을 위한 문제를 해결하고 그 결과를 보였다. Simulated annealing is based on the Gibbs' canonical ensemble. We exend the simulated annealing by using the grand canonical ensemble which do not fix the number of particles. To test the power of extended simulated annealing(ESA), we apply this ESA to augmented TSP and to an alternative method for selecting a reasonable number of the appropriate variables that explain the variation of the wavemaking resistance coefficients.

In spite of the debate on fuzzy methods that they may provide an altermative to probabilistic and statistical methods, both approaches are going to give way to collaboration in the very practical fields. In this paper we review the area of fuzzy clustering in which the two approaches get along with each other. The current research interest and direction is discussed and a newly developed algorithm that prevents the output from being fuzziness as much as possible is presented with an illustration.

This study deals with the measure of detecting influential observation in multivariate calibration model. The proposed measure considers every possible values which the calibrative distance have, whereas the statistic suggested by Oman(1984) in simple linear calibration model considers the worst case only. We also extend Cook's statistic to the multivariate case and suggest a new statistic which is a contrast to the Cook's idea. Finally we derive some computing formula to calculate the suggest statistics easily in the numerical data and apply these to an example.

This paper suggests an interval estimation procedure in the simple calibration model when the error variances are a function of independent variables. The conditions under which one can obtain a closed confidence interval are also studied here.

In the multivariate calibration model, we propose a new Empirical Bayes estimator(EB estimator) which enables us to predict the panameter of interest. The EB estimator is a compromised type between the classical estimator and the inverse estimator, and attains better precision than any other estimator in Brown(1982).

In the simple calibration model, Maritz(1970) gave an empirical Bayes estimator of x_0 when y_01, …, y_0k on x_0 are observed. However, his estimator can not be applied in case k 1 which is occurred more often than not. We propose a new empirical Bayes estimator of x_0 which enables us to predict x_0 for all k and is a compromise between the classical estimator and the inverse estimator.
