1P-96 polyamide-6/CNT-NCO (isocyanate functionalized CNT)

Gate-induced drain leakage (GIDL) in MFMIS and MFIS negative capacitance FinFETs
2020 Current Applied Physics Vol.20 No.11
The gate induced drain leakage (GIDL) effect in negative capacitance (NC) FinFET is investigated. A Landau– Ginzburg–Devonshire equation (which considers the polarization gradient in ferroelectric material) is used to estimate the characteristics of the NC FinFET. Specifically, metal-ferroelectric-metal-insulator-semiconductor (MFMIS) and metal-ferroelectric-insulator-semiconductor (MFIS) NC FinFETs are compared, in order to figure out the effect of the internal metal layer on the GIDL effect. To analyze the impact of the polarization gradient on the GIDL effect in NC FinFET, a polarization gradient coefficient is varied. For MFMIS, the polarization gradient doesn’t significantly affect the device performance. The subthreshold swing improves but the GIDL effect deteriorates because of the “uniform” NC effect in channel region. For MFIS, the device performance is explicitly affected by the polarization gradient. Smaller polarization gradients result in non-uniform NC effect in channel region, resulting in severe GIDL effects. On the other hand, higher polarization gradients alleviate GIDL effects

Ethylene glycol poisoning can cause profound morbidity and is almost universally fatal if untreated. Central nervous system depression, pulmonary edema, and acute oligulic renal failure with crystalluria are among the most commonly encountered complication of ingestion. Ingestion of ethylene glycol may be an important contributor in patients with metabolic acidosis and subsequent renal failure. The diagnosis of ethylene glycol poisoning is based on nonspecific clinical symptoms and signs and indirect and direct laboratory measurement of ethylene glycol. As a result, diagnosis and treatment sometimes can be delayed. We describe 52-year-old man who visited to emergency department with mental change of unknown origin. The patient has high anion gap metabolic acidosis and renal failure due to ingestion of antifreeze that contained ethylene glycol. We used hemodialysis for elimination technique. The patient was discharged with minimal complication.

Purpose: To compare the sedation quality of oral chloral hydrate against intramuscular ketamine in children requiring primary repair in the emergency department. Methods: Patients needing primary repair of lacerations (range 16 years of age) were blindly randomized to either chloral hydrate or ketamine groups. One group received intramuscular ketamine at 4 mg/kg and the other group received oral chloral hydrate at 50 mg/kg. Both groups received lidocaine for local anesthesia. Physiologic parameters (heart rate, blood pressure and respiratory rate), the time from sedation to recovery, and the degree of sedation as measured by the Ramsay sedation score and the Modified Aldrete recovery score were recorded during the treatment. Overall behavior and complication were assessed both at baseline and at the end of the treatment. Results: Data are mean±SD. We enrolled 80 consecutive patients into the study; 39 received intramuscular ketamine and 41 were administered oral chloral hydrate. The two groups were similar with regard to age, sex, and body weights. No patient had a clinically significant change in vital signs and the time from sedation to recovery. Changes in the Modified Aldrete recovery score after sedation were not statistically significant. However, statistically significant differences were observed for the Ramsay sedation score at 15 minutes after sedation (4.89±0.32 versus 4.23± 0.48; p=0.024). No differences at other time points achieved statistical significance in the Ramsay sedation score. Conclusion: Both oral chloral hydrate and intramuscular ketamine are safe and effective for the sedation of children requiring laceration repair in the emergency department.
