        The aim of this study was to collect data to establish mid and long term plans of oral health promotion project for Wonju citizens. This study was a self-administered questionnaire survey on citizens visiting the oral health education booth at the Wonju Citizens’ Health Day. The contents of the survey were about the last year’s visit to the oral health education booth, the education contents, the status of individual dental prosthesis care. The data were analyzed by SPSS 23.0 statistical program. The average age was 69.4 years, and 25% of subjects visited to the booth. Eighty eight percent of subjects had more than one dental prosthesis, and 64.3% of them had fixed prosthesis. The rate of subjects having denture was 6.7% in the 50s and below, but 73.7% in the 80s and over. On the other hand, implants showed similar retention rates at all ages. In conclusions, these findings can be used to plan the educational activities of the Oral Health Promotion Center which is held annually according to the characteristics of the participants of the education booth and to enhance the educational effect.

        Transparent film heater based on a microgrid-patterned metal nanowire network prepared by using the bilayer lift-off technique

        In this work, a bilayer lift-off process was combined with a spray coating technique to fabricate highly flexible and transparent heaters based on silver nanowire (AgNW) microgrid (AMG) structures. The unique architecture of the bilayer polymer mold with a sufficient undercut enabled the precise, reproducible fabrication of MG made of AgNWs with a high aspect ratio. The resulting AMG exhibited well-balanced optoelectronic properties: a low sheet resistance (6 ± 0.4 Ω/sq) and a high optical transmittance (71.8 ± 3.9% at a 550 nm wavelength). The AMG heater showed an excellent electrothermal performance: a low-voltage operation (51.4 ± 2℃ at 2 V) and high thermal resistance (~ 398℃ cm2/ W). The mechanically flexible heater was successfully attached to the wrist region, and its Joule heating performance could be maintained stably and uniformly, even under dynamic wrist bending motions.

        Association between Medical Costs and the ProVent Model in Patients Requiring Prolonged Mechanical Ventilation

        Background: The purpose of this study was to determine whether components of the ProVent model can predict the high medical costs in Korean patients requiring at least 21 days of mechanical ventilation (prolonged mechanical ventilation [PMV]). Methods: Retrospective data from 302 patients (61.6% male; median age, 63.0 years) who had received PMV in the past 5 years were analyzed. To determine the relationship between medical cost per patient and components of the ProVent model, we collected the following data on day 21 of mechanical ventilation (MV): age, blood platelet count, requirement for hemodialysis, and requirement for vasopressors. Results: The mortality rate in the intensive care unit (ICU) was 31.5%. The average medical costs per patient during ICU and total hospital (ICU and general ward) stay were 35,105 and 41,110 US dollars (USD), respectively. The following components of the ProVent model were associated with higher medical costs during ICU stay: age <50 years (average 42,731 USD vs. 33,710 USD, p=0.001), thrombocytopenia on day 21 of MV (36,237 USD vs. 34,783 USD, p=0.009), and requirement for hemodialysis on day 21 of MV (57,864 USD vs. 33,509 USD, p<0.001). As the number of these three components increased, a positive correlation was found betweeen medical costs and ICU stay based on the Pearson’s correlation coefficient (γ) (γ=0.367, p<0.001). Conclusion: The ProVent model can be used to predict high medical costs in PMV patients during ICU stay. The highest medical costs were for patients who required hemodialysis on day 21 of MV.

      • Time-dependent Toxic Effects of Cadmium Chloride on The Stress-related Gene Expression, Growth and Reproduction of the Soil Nematode Caenorhabditis elegans

        카드뮴은 환경과 인체 위해도에 큰 영향을 미치는 중요한 환경오염물질로 잘 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 토양선충인 Caenorhabditis elegans에 카드뮴을 12시간과 48시간으로 나누어 처리하여 시간에 따른장, b½ cN(} keknrmn v³ . 이때 생리학적 수준으로 성장 및 생식을 조사하고, 분자수준에서 스트레스 관련 유전자들의 시간에 따른 발현 정도를 관찰하였다. 생식에서는 단기노출(12시간) 시 그영향이 대조군에 비해 크게 나타났으며, mtl-2의 스트레스 관련 유전자가 증가하였다. 장기 노출(48시간)시에는 cyp35a2, ape-1, sod-1, ctl-2 유전자가 대조군에 비해 약 2~ 4배 가량의 발현 증가 결과를 조사할수 있었다. 본 연구결과들을 통해 스트레스 관련 유전자의 발현을 조사하는 것이 중요하고 민감한 생체지표가 된다는 것과 토양선충 C. elegans는 환경중 오염물질에 대한 장기, 단기적 영향을 평가하기 위한좋은 생물학적 모델이 된다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

        금속 박막 두께가 크랙 기반 신축성 하이브리드 압저항 전극의 스트레인 감지 특성에 미치는 영향

        In recent decades, many research efforts have been devoted to developing high-performancestretchable strain sensors due to their potential for application in various emerging wearable sensor systems. This work presents a facile yet highly efficient way of modulating the sensing performance of a thin metalfilm/conductive composite hybrid piezoresistor-based stretchable strain sensor by simply controlling the metalfilm thickness. The hybrid strain sensor can be simply fabricated by sputtering a thin platinum (Pt) film ontoa silver nanowire (AgNW)/dragon skin (DS) composite substrate prepared via a facile embed-and-transferprocess in a reproducible manner. The density of the network-shaped mechanical crack induced in the Pt filmtended to decrease with increasing the Pt thickness, thereby leading to a higher gauge factor of the sensor. The fabricated hybrid strain sensor also exhibited a large stretchability of 150% owing to its electricalrobustness under strain, based on the unique morphology, formed of the network-shaped Pt crack and AgNWpercolation network embedded in the DS matrix. Thanks to the balanced strain-sensing performance of thehybrid strain sensor in conjunction with large stretchability, the device was successfully demonstrated as awearable human-activity monitoring solution that can monitor a wide range of human motions in real time.

        그림책을 활용한 철학활동이 유아의 사회적 능력 및 도덕적 행동에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of philosophical activity using picture books on young children’s social competence and moral behavior in young children. Participants of this study are 39 young children aged 5 from S kindergarten located in G City. They consisted of an experimental group of 19 and a control group of 20. In order to investigate effects of philosophical activity using picture books on young children's social competence and moral behavior, the data collected from pre and post test. The data from both the experimental and control groups were compared and analyzed with an independence t-test using a SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Science) WIN21.0 program. Result of this study showed that young children’s social competence and moral behavior in the experimental group with philosophical activity using picture books were improved more than those of the comparative group which did the fairy tale activity and expansion activity related to the daily subjects. As for these results, it can be seen that philosophical activity using picture books positively affected young children's social competence and moral behavior. In conclusion, this implies that if philosophical activity using picture books are consistently developed in the field of early childhood education, it could be a alternative method to improve social competence and moral behavior in young children. 본 연구는 그림책을 활용한 철학활동이 유아의 사회적 능력 및 도덕적 행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 실험집단에는 선정된 그림책을 활용한 철학활동을 주 2회씩 총 8주에 걸쳐 진행하였고, 비교집단에는 그림책을 활용하여 동화활동 및 확장활동을 동일기간에 진행하였다. 연구대상은 만 5세 유아 39명(실험집단 19명, 비교집단 20명)을 선정하였으며 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN21.0 프로그램을 이용하여 독립표본 t검증으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 그림책을 활용한 철학활동을 실시한 실험집단의 유아가 비교집단에 비해 사회적 능력 및 도덕적 행동에 긍정적인 영향이 있었음을 알 수 있었다. 그림책을 활용한 철학활동을 경험하는 것은 유아의 논리적인 사고력 증진을 기대할 수 있고, 이러한 과정을 반복하면서 내면화된 사회적 능력과 도덕적 행동이 발휘됨을 보여줌으로써 유아교육현장에서 대안적 교수학습방법이 될 수 있음을 시사한다.

      • Gene Expression Profiling in the Nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, as a Potential Biomarker for Soil Ecotoxicology

        Monitoring toxicity levels in specific biological compartments is necessary to evaluate the ecotoxicological risk associated with soil environmental pollution. Gene expression, as potential biomarker, is increasingly used as rapid early warning systems in environmental monitoring and ecological risk assessment procedures. Various representative species are currently used for the purpose of assessing soil toxicity, however, investigations on toxicological assessments using endpoint based on gene-level have been limited. In this review, we will present the current trends in organisms and endpoints used in soil toxicity study and report gene expression related to toxicity using soil organism, and C. elegans as promising organisms for this approach.

        Effects of P3HT Concentration on the Electrical Properties of the Au/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT/n-GaN Hybrid Junction Structure

        An inorganic-organic hybrid junction has been fabricated by spin coating the p-type poly(3- hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl)(P3HT) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS) on an n-type GaN layer. The GaN layer was formed on Al2O3 by metal organic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD) method. To investigate the effects of P3HT concentration on the electrical properties, we changed P3HT solution concentration and speed of spin coater. The currentvoltage (I-V ) characteristic of Au/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT/n-GaN shows rectifying behavior. The I-V characteristic was examined in the frame work of the thermionic emission model. The most proper rectifying behavior was obtained for 0.6 wt% and thickness below 65 nm of P3HT used diode. We expect that such hybrid structures, suitably developed,
