Trace-forward만을 사용한 Viterbi Decoder

Recently, the Viterbi algorithm is widely used for the decoding of convolutional codes. This paper proposes a Viterbi decoder using a trace-forward processing to reduce the amount of memory storing the survivor path information and to increase the decoding speed. We adopt fully parallel structure for ACS(add-compare-select) units to minimize the delay which determines the Viterbi decoder's throughput. We reuses ACS units to reduce ACS area that occupies the majority of the chip area. The decoder is designed using VHDL and is implemented using a CPLD. It is verified to operate by a measurement using a logic analyzer.
제일원리전산을 이용한 연료전지용 나노 스케일 백금 합금촉매에 대한 열역학적 구조 분석

Over the last decade, performances of low temperature fuel cells are substantially improved by developing highly active Pt-M alloy catalysts. The electrochemical stability of those catalysts, however, still does not meet the commercial grade for fuel cells to be long-term power sources of electrical vehicles. To unveil a major mechanism causing such weak durability, we extensively utilize ab-initio computations on nano-scale Pt-Co alloy catalysts and analyze thermodynamically the most stable structure as a function of compositional variation. Our results indicate that there is a certain feature governing the particle distribution of a specific alloy element on the nano-scale catalysts, which aggravates the electrochemical degradation.
복사열과 부분열림이 자연대류에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

The unsteady numerical simulations have been presented for the laminar natural convection in a partially open compartment. Computations were performed within the domain of the compartment in order to show the thermal radiation and the partially opening effects on the flow fields and heat transfer characteristics. The results were shown for different Planck numbers(0.05~5) and opening ratios(0.25~0.75) being fixed with Ra=$10^5$ and Pr=0.71. Considering the flow which is buoyancy driven from the heated wall, and the buoyancy is not much affected by the further outside region from the opening, the numerical computations have been performed without an outer region by the particular boundary treatments on the flow velocity and temperature at the different partial openings. The confined numerical domain reduced the CPU time and the memory of computer. P-1 approximation of radiative transfer equation was employed with Marshak type boundary conditions along with the pseudo-black body approximation at the partial openings. The numerical results clearly show that the natural convective flow and heat transfer are much affected by increase of thermal radiation particularly from the initial state. When thermal radiation is not much affecting the flow ($PL{\le}1$), it was found that thermal radiation effects are almost negligible.

본 논문에서는 비터비 디코더의 디코딩과정에서 trace-forward 과정이후. trace-back 동작 없이 decision bit를 결정 가능한 구조로 설계하여 사용 메모리 크기와 동작 cycle에서 이득을 가지는 변형된 레지스터 교환(modified register exchange) 방식을 제안하였다. 제안된 구조는 시뮬레이션에 의해 trace-back이 있는 기존의 방식과 동일한 결과를 나타냄을 확인하였으며, 변형된 레지스터 교환 방식과 기존의 레지스터 교환 방식, 그리고 trace-back 방식과 비교하였다. 제안한 방식은 다른 방식들에 비해 메모리를 1/(5 x constraint length)로 줄일 수 있고, trace-back 방식에 비해 throughput을 2배 향상시켰다. 변형된 레지스터 교환 방식을 적용한 비터비 디코더의 동작을 검증하기 위해 code rate 2/,3, constraint length, K가 3인 디코더를 radix-4 구조의 1 bit 디코딩 방식으로 설계하여 FPGA(field programmable gate away)를 이용하여 구현하고 측정을 통해 오류 정정 작용을 확인하였다. 또한 블록 디코딩 방식에도 적용할 수 있음을 보였다. This paper proposes a Viterbi decoding scheme without trace-back operations to reduce the amount of memory storing the survivor path information, and to increase the decoding speed. The proposed decoding scheme is a modified register exchange scheme, and is verified by a simulation to give the same results as those of the conventional decoders. It is compared with the conventional decoding schemes such as the trace-back and the register exchange scheme. The memory size of the proposed scheme is reduced to 1/(5 x constraint length) of that of the register exchange scheme, and the throughput is doubled compared with that of the trace-back scheme. A decoder with a code rate of 2/3, a constraint length, K=3 and a trace-back depth of 15 is designed using VHDL and implemented in an FPGA. It is also shown that the modified register exchange scheme can be applied to a block decoding scheme.

최근 수퍼 컴퓨터 성능과 소프트 엔지니어링의 비약적인 발달에 힘입어, 제일원리에 기반한 전산재료과학분야에 혁신이 일어나고 있다. 빅 데이터 (Big Data) 관리와 소재 게놈학 (Materials Genome Project) 분야는 그 대표적인 사례이다. 본 발표는 나노입자의 가장 큰 매력인 높은 부피대비 표면적을 이용한 다양한 화학반응성을 고양하는 연구를 소개한다. 신재생에너지 시스템용 전기촉매, 리튬이온전지 전극 및 전해질, 원자력의 사용후 핵연료 재활용, 인체 유해화합물 제거용 소재 개발 등을 중심으로 그 성공적인 방법론을 제공한다.
