Titanium alloys have been mainly used for aircraft components as well as implant materials. Although a number of cutting tools and cutting methods have been developed for improving the cutting processes, they have difficulties such as tool wear and failure. This study considers a novel approach to on-line monitoring of tool wear and failure in titanium alloy cutting processes. The on-line monitoring system mainly consists of two parts: The one is on-line data acquisition with sensors and a DSP board through LabView and a web server, and the other is learning and prediction of tool wear and failure using an ART2 neural network algorithm. The system is installed at an on-site machine tool to monitor high speed steel(HSS) tools for cutting titanium alloy. A number of experiment are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system.
유전알고리즘을 이용한 수직벽면 이동 로봇의 정·동적 최적설계

Most shipbuilding works are manually carried out by workers, and safety consideration is an important issue especially in elevated-spot works such as painting and cleaning of outer wall of a ship. To cope with the circumstance, shipbuilding makers start to introduce wall-climbing robots for carrying out such tasks. In designing such a wall-climbing robot, it is essential to minimize its own weight to improve the performance such as moving speed and power saving. For such purpose, this paper proposes a method of optimal design for a wall-climbing robot body using genetic algorithm through static and dynamic analysis. Specifically, the thickness of the robot base is minimized to reduce the weight while maintaining the allowable strength and avoiding resonance frequencies. The proposed method is applied to the design of a wall-climbing robot, and the simulation results show that the method can be successfully adopted to the early stage of design.
Effective Isolation of Primo Vessels in Lymph using Sound- and Ultrasonic-wave Stimulation

The effects of stimulation with sound and ultrasonic waves of a specific bandwidth on the microdissection of primo vessels in lymphatic vessels of rabbit were investigated. The primo vessels stained with alcian-blue dye injected in the lymph nodes were definitely visualized and more easily isolated by sound-wave vibration and ultrasonic stimulation applied to rabbits at various frequencies and intensities. With sound wave at 7 Hz and ultrasonic waves at 2 MHz, the probability of detecting the primo vessels was improved to 90%; however, without wave stimulation the probability of discovering primo vessels was about 50% only. Sound and ultrasonic waves at specific frequency bands should be effective for microdissection of the primo vessels in the abdominal lymph of rabbit. We suggest that oscillation of the primo vessels by sound and ultrasonic waves may be useful to visualize specific primo structure, and wave vibration can be a very supportive process for observation and isolation of the primo vessels of rabbits.

멀티미디어 컨텐츠 소비 증가와 비대면 온라인 회의 확산으로 인해, 무선 네트워크의 성능 향상을 위한 비면허 주파수 대역의 확대가 시급한 상황이다. 이를 해결하기 위해 미국, 유럽, 한국의 규제 당국들은 6㎓ 주파수 대역을 비면허 대역으로 허용하는 방안을 수년 동안 논의해 왔다. 미국과 한국은 Wi-Fi 6E 및 5GNR-U (New Radio Unlicensed)와 같은 비면허 무선 액세스 기술들(RAT)에게 6㎓ 밴드의 1200㎒ 대역폭 전체를 실내 서비스 용도로 개방하였고, 유럽에서는 500㎒ 대역폭을 개방할 예정이다. 새롭게 공급되는 풍부한 주파수 자원은 초고속 초저지연 성능을 요구하는 다양한 서비스들을 원활하게 지원할 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 기존의 6㎓ 대역을 사용하고 있는 면허 기기들의 동작을 보호해야 하며, 신규 비면허 기기들 간에도 조화롭게 공존해야 할 것이다. 본고에서는 먼저 6㎓ 대역의 기존 면허 기기사용 현황과 새로 진입하는 비면허 기기에 적용되는 규제 현황을 살펴본다. 그리고 내년부터 본격적으로 6㎓를 활용할 비면허무선 접속 기술들의 표준화 현황 및 특징들에 대해 알아보고, 기존 기기 및 신규 기기들간의 공존을 위한 방안들에 대해서도 기술한다.
