Adult Hirschsprung's disease appear to be a rare condition and few cases have previously been reported in the literature. In most instances, Hirschsprung's disease can be diagnosed in the neonatal period and not later than early infancy. Those that are recognized in the adult period are mild variety of disease, for example, the short segment type in most cases, and those with long segment type can be found very rarely because of its severe symptoms and fatal complications such as acute enterocolitis. In this article, we report a case of 28-year-old man with long segment Hirschsprungs disease. In addition, general concepts of the adult Hirschsprung's disease with brief review of literature are disclosed here.

최근 들어 직장-가정 갈등의 주제는 연구자는 물론 일반인에게도 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 이는 직장과 가정의 영역은 서로 다르다는 가정을 전제하고 있다. 이들 두 영역으로부터의 역할기대가 상호 양립적일 때 역할간 스트레스가 발생한다. 다시 말하면 직장과 가정의 갈등은 직장일로 인해 가정 일을 하지 못하거나 또는 가정일로 인해 직장 일을 하지 못함으로써 발생하게 되는 것이다. 본 연구는 직장-가정 갈등의 결정요인을 살펴보기 위해 23개 초ㆍ중ㆍ고교에 근무하는 517명의 기혼교사들을 대상으로 실시하였다. 분석결과 A형 성격, 직무과부하, 자녀양육 갈등은 직장-가정 갈등과 정(+)의 관계를 그리고 직무자율성, 지원적인 조직분위기는 직장-가정 갈등과 부(-)의 관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로, 본 연구결과의 시사점과 향후 연구방향을 제시하였다. Recently the issues of Work-Family Conflict have drawn considerable attention not only from researchers in this field but also from common people. Underlying this perspective is an assumption that work and family are two distinct domains. Whenever role expectations in these two domains are incompatible, inter-role stress occurs. Work-Family Conflict(WFC) is a form of inter-role conflict that occurs when participation in the work role is made difficult by the participation of the family role or vice versa. The purpose of this study is to examine the preceding factors of Work-Family Conflict among married teachers in Korea. The data was obtained through a questionnaire given to a sample of 517 teachers working in 23 elementary, middle and high schools. Results indicated that type A tendency, work overload, conflict of rearing children are positively related to WFC, while job autonomy and supportive organizational culture are negatively related to WFC. Finally, implications and future research suggestions were discussed.

We have experienced a case of massive splenomegaly which showed hypersplenism in a 53- year-old lady. The cause was obscure after preoperative diagnostic work-ups. Exploratory laparotomy with splenectomy wedge biopsy of liver, and lymph node biopsy was performed for the diagnostic and therapeutic purpose. There were no evidences suggesting for malignant lymphoma, myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia, storage diseases, or tuberculosis. We have observed her post-operative course for over two years. No evidence of disease progression have been found. We have cautiously concluded that her illness was so-called primary hypersplenism.
