Vol.16 No.3
This study examined the effects of cervical extension muscle exercise together with Mckinzie cervical exercise on the muscular forces, pain, and ROM of cervical spine in cervicalgia patients. The subjects were divided into 3 groups as an exercise group (n=11), a control group (n=10) and a physiotherapy group (n=10). Exercise group have shown significantly higher flexion ROM after four weeks and eight weeks (p<.001), compared to control group. In cervical extension muscle exercise test, the exercise group had significantly higher results across the whole cervical ROM (torque 0°, 18°, 36°, 54°, 72°, 90°, 108°) after four and eight weeks (p<.001). In the test result of pain levels, the exercise group had a significantly lower neck pain after four and eight weeks than before the start of exercise (p<.001). In terms of exercise pain, stiffness, twisting pain, and handicap, both the exercise and control groups had a significantly low results after four and eight weeks than before the exercise (p<.05). In flexion ROM and cervical extension muscle exercise, the physiotherapy had significantly higher results after four-week excercise than before the application of exercise (p<.01). In the sections of neck pain, exercise pain, stiffness, and twisting pain, the physiotherapy resulted in significantly low marks (p<.05). In the section of handicap, the physiotherapy and exercise groups had considerably lower results after four weeks than before the exercise (p<01.), and the control group also resulted in the significant results after four weeks than before the exercise(p<.01). The cervicalgia patients have shown the improvement effects of flexion ROM and cervical extension muscle exercise along with the reduced pain by applying programs for muscular strength and Mckinzie cervical exercise. In the results of four-week treatment, it can be said that the exercise group is more effective than the physiotherapy group from the result of significantly high results in the exercise group at all angles. This study, which have prepared the application reasons of rehabilitation programs among patients with neck pain, is thought to make a great contribution to the rehabilitation and function improvement among cervicalgia patients.

Background: Crestal bone loss known as saucerization is a frequently observed phenomenon. Recent studies have shown that implants with micothreaded crest module reduced the force concentration in the crestal region thus resulting in no or reduced crestal bone loss. This study presents a clinical, histologic, and histometric evaluation of implants with microthreaded crest module and SLA surface. Methods: The implants were placed in the mandible of 5 beagle dogs weighing 10-15kg. Four premolars were bilaterally extracted 8 weeks prior to implant placement. Mucoperiosteal flap was elevated and drilling with increasing diameter was performed under saline irrigation. After countersinking 2 implants were placed in each side resulting in 4 implants per dog. Healing period of 8 weeks was allowed before sacrificing the animals. Histologic preparation was performed for histologic and histometric analysis. Bone to implant contact as well as percentage of bone area inside threads were measured. T-test was used for statistical analysis with pvalue p<0.05. Results: 1. Healing was uneventful without any cover screw exposure. New bone formation around the implants was observed without any inflammatory infiltration. 2. Bone to implant contact in the microthread and thread were 43.90 ${\pm}$ 20.30 %, and 53.19 ${\pm}$ 20.97 % respectively. The overall bone to implant contact was 48.54 ${\pm}$ 20.95 %. 3. Percentage of bone area inside threads were 54.43 ${\pm}$ 10.39 %, and 38.44 ${\pm}$ 16.44 % for the microthread and thread respectively. There was statistically significant difference(p<0.05). The overall percentage of bone area inside threads was 46.67 ${\pm}$ 15.68 %.
