          당뇨 유발 흰쥐에서 여주열매 첨가 시 혈당과 콜레스테롤 수준에 미치는 영향

          This study was designed to examine the effects of bitter melon (BM) on the plasma blood glucose and cholesterol levels in diabetic rats. Diabetes mellitus was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats through an injection of streptozotocin (STZ) dissolved in a citrate buffer into the tail vein at a dose of 45 mg/kg of body weight. Sprague-Dawley rats were then fed for four weeks, with the experimental groups receiving a modified diet containing 5% or 10% powder derived from BM. The experimental groups were divided into 4 groups, consisting of the normal control group, STZ-control group and diabetic fed with BM 5% & 10% treated groups. The rats' body weight, blood glucose and cholesterol values were measured along with the hematocrit (Hct) values and aminotransferase activities. Body weight losses were observed in the diabetic groups, whereas the control rats gained weight. There were significant differences in kidney weight between the control group and the diabetic groups. The Hct levels of the diabetic BM-treated group were significantly higher than the STZ-control group. Aspartate aminotransferase activity was lower in the non-diabetic group compared to the diabetic experimental groups. Further, the blood glucose was significantly decreased in the 5% & 10% BM of the diabetic group. There were no significant difference in cholesterol levels among the diabetic groups. These results indicate that the supplementation of bitter melon may have a favorable influence on reducing the blood glucose level in STZ-induced diabetic rats.

          Rehabilitation Program for Athletes

          운동재활 프로그램은 운동선수나 트레이너, 감독 등의 치료 도구로서 가장 중요한 것 중 하나이며 운동과 다른 치료수단을 병행하는 것이 선수들의 복귀를 위해서 도움을 줄 수 있다. 재활프로그램은 선수들의 체력을 손상 이전의 상태로 만드는 것을 의미한다. 손상 후 선수들은 너무 일찍 그들의 손상 부위가 운동에 적합하지 않은 상태에서도 임하기 때문에 보다 더 심각한 손상에 위험에 쳐할 수 있으므로 세심한 주의가 필요하다. 스포츠 손상 후 제활 프로그램은 운동선수의 특수한 스포츠 종목에 따라 책임감 있도록 행해져야 하며 손상을 받은 선수들은 가능한 한 빨리 재활프로그램에 임해야 한다. 재활 운동 프로그램에서는 근력과 유연성, 심폐지구력, 신체적 협응 능력을 증진시켜 손상 전처럼 유지할 필요가 있다. 손상을 입은 선수들은 손상을 받지 않은 부위라도 운동프로그램을 적용하여 운동에 임해야 하며 손상을 받지 않은 신체부위와 관절의 근력과 지구력을 유지 할 수 있도록 운동을 해야 한다. 또한 선수들의 손상은 과사용으로 인하여 체력이 저하되는 것을 포함하지는 않지만 휴식기간과 시합에 임했을 때를 고려하여 근력이나 지구력을 유지할 수 있어야 한다. 재활운동 프로그램을 진행하는 단계에서는 수술 후 급성손상 프로그램을 비롯하여 초기운동 프로그램, 중간운동 프로그램, 상급운동 프로그램, 초기 스포츠참가 전 프로그램 등 5단계를 시행해야 한다. 이를 위해서는 신체적인 면 뿐 만 아니라 정신적 정서적인 면 강조 되어야 한다. 이러한 제반 사항을 위해서는 운동프로그램을 통한 재활이 모든 치료계획에서 여러 가지 요인 중 한가지라고 할 수 있으므로 의사와 감독, 트레이너가 합심하여 선수들이 경기에 참여하여 최선의 기량을 발휘할 수 있도록 도와주어야 한다. Exercise rehabilitation program is one of the most important therapeutic tools available to the athletic trainer, therapist, or coach. Exercise, properly used and combined with other therapeutic modalities, can help the athlete return safely to competition. Rehabilitation program refers to the restoration of the athlete to a preinjury level of physical fitness. Too often athletes, after injury, return to their sport before they have fully recovered, thereby risking a more serious injury. Exercise rehabilitation program after a sports injury is the combined responsibility of all individuals connected with a specific sport. Restoring the injured part is so important that a rehabilitation program must be started as soon as possible. In establishing a conditioning program, emphasis should be placed on maintaining strength, flexibility, circulatory endurance, and coordination of the total body. Contralateral exercises program should be introduced when they can be performed without pain or stress to the injured body part. If possible, all uninvolved body parts and joints should be exercised daily to maintain a reasonable degree of general strength and endurance. This is not to imply that sports injuries should be "run off or worked through" Rather, a proper balance between resting and exercising should be maintained. Besides the physical aspect of rehabilitation, the mental and emotional aspects must also always be considered. There must be full cooperation between coach, athletic trainer, and physician in helping to restore the athlete to the proper level of competitive fitness. Rehabilitation through exercise program is considered one factor in the total therapy regimen.

          함초 첨가식이가 당뇨 유발 흰주의 혈당 및 지질대사물에 미치는 영향

          This study was designed to examine the effects of Salicornia herbacea L. (glasswort: GW) on the plasma blood glucose and lipid metabolites in diabetic rats. Diabetes mellitus was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 200 - 220g by an injection of streptozotocin (STZ) dissolved in a citrate buffer into the tail vein at a dose of 45 ㎎/㎏ of body weight. Sprague-Dawley rats were fed an AIN-93 recommended diet and the experimental groups were fed a modified diet containing 10% and 20% of glasswort powder for 4 weeks. The experimental groups were divided into 6 groups which consisted of normal (N)-control group, N-GW 10% and N-GW 20% treated groups, STZ-control, STZ-GW 10% and STZ-GW 20% treated groups. The rats' body weights, aminotransferase activities and hematocrit (Hct) values were measured, along with plasma levels of glucose, protein, cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride (TG) and free fatty acids (FFA). The non-diabetic rats gained weight, while the diabetic rats lost weight. There were significant differences between the control group and the diabetic groups in the weight of the kidney, liver and pancreas. Asparate aminotransferase activity was lower in the non-diabetic control group compared to diabetic experimental groups, even though the difference was not significant. The plasma protein of N-GW 20% group was lower among all experimental groups but it was not significantly different. The blood glucose levels of the STZ-GW 10% group and STZ-GW 20% group were significantly lower than for the diabetic-control group. There were no significant difference of cholesterol levels among diabetic groups. The normal rats of 20% glasswort group in FFA and TG levels showed significant changes among all groups. These results exhibited dose related effect of glasswort and it may contain antihypoglycemic compounds. (Korean J Nutrition 40(1): 5~13,2007)

          함초 첨가식이가 당뇨유발 흰쥐의 항산화효소 활성에 미치는 영향

          This study was designed to examine the effects of Salicornia herbacea L. (glasswort: GW) on hepatic antioxidative enzyme activities in diabetic rats. Diabetes mellitus was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 200-220g by an injection of streptozotocin (STZ) dissolved in a citrate buffer into the tail vein at a dose of 45 mg/kg of body weight. Sprague-Dawley rats were fed an AIN-93 recommended diet and the experimental groups were fed a modified diet containing 10% and 20% of glasswort powder for 4 weeks. The experimental groups were divided into 6 groups which consisted of normal (N)-control group, N-GW 10% and N-GW 20% treated groups, STZ-control, STZ-GW 10% and STZ-GW 20% treated groups. The activities of Xanthine oxidase (XOD), glutathione- S-transferase (GST), glutathione peroxidase (GPX), glutathione reductase (GR), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and CAT (CAT) were measured in the homogenates of liver. The activity of CAT was lower in the supplementary group with glasswort compare to the STZcontrol group but it was not significantly different. The activity of SOD was not significant in all of experimental groups. The activity of GR was significantly increased in the normal supplementary group with glasswort, and GPX activity was significantly increased in STZ-GW 10% group compare to the STZ-control group. The activity of XOD was significantly decreased in the all of supplementary groups with glasswort. The activity of GST was significantly increased in the N-GW 20% group and it was significantly decreased in the STZ-GW 20% group. These results show that the supplementation of glasswort may have favorable influence on antioxidative status in diabetic rats and it may be useful for the diabetic complications as functional food.

          This study was designed to examine the effects of Salicornia herbacea L. (glasswort: GW) on the lipid peroxidation and mineral levels in diabetic rats. Diabetes mellitus was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 200-220 g by an injection of streptozotocin (STZ) dissolved in a citrate buffer into the tail vein at a dose of 45 ㎎/㎏ of body weight. Sprague-Dawley rats were fed an AIN-93 recommended diet and the experimental groups were fed a modified diet containing 10% and 20% of glasswort powder for 4 weeks. The experimental groups were divided into 6 groups which consisted of normal (N)-control group, N-GW 10% and N-GW 20% treated groups, STZ-control, STZ-GW 10% and STZ-GW 20% treated groups. The rats' liver and muscle glycogen, liver and kidney protein, cholesterol and triglyceride (TG) in liver, malondialdehyde (MDA) in liver and kidney values were measured, along with the hepatic of chromium (Cr), iron (Fe), and zinc (Zn) content. The liver glycogen levels was significantly affected in N-GW 20% group among all the experimental groups. The liver MDA levels of the STZ-GW 10% and STZ-GW 20% groups were significantly lower than for the STZ-control group. There were significant differences between the N-control group and the STZ-control group in the hepatic of Zn levels. The hepatic of Cr levels in the N-GW 20% and STZ-GW 10% and STZ-GW 20% groups were significanly higher than for the each control groups. These results exhibited dose related effect of glasswort and it may have favorable influence on lipid peroxidation in the liver.

          성과 젠더의 관점에서 바라본 1990년대 엄인희의 작품세계

          1990년대는 한국 사회에서 여성문화가 본격적으로 전개되었던 시기다. 베를린 장벽붕괴와 소연방 해체 등 동구몰락에 따른 냉전 구도의 와해, 뒤이은 민주화와 경제적 풍요 속에서 그동안 배제되었던 다양한 입장들이 목소리를 내기 시작했다. 이런 다원적 흐름 속에서 여성주의도 본격적으로 제 목소리를 내기 시작했고, 전통적 입장과 다른 시각에서 성과 젠더를 바라보는 입장들이 대두되었다. 연극계에서도 이런 변화가 나타나는데, 이 논문은 그중 가장 일관성 있게 여성에 대한 작품을 발표했던 엄인희의 극작술을 연구하였다. 이 글이 선택한 작품은 공연되었던 당대에 비교적 반향을 불러일으켰던 <그 여자의 소설(1995)>과 <생과부 위자료 청구소송(1997)>이다. 두 편 다 여성의 몸과 성 그리고 젠더를 논쟁적으로 고찰하고 있으며, 이 논문은 그러한 관점에서 엄인희의 극작술을 조명하였다. <그 여자의 소설>은 식민지 시대에서 출발하여 전통적 젠더의 지배를 받는 윗대 여성의 삶을 연대기 형식으로 다룬 작품이다. 반면 <생과부위자료 청구소송>은 성과 욕망에 능동적인 1990년대 동시대 여성을 재판극의 구조 속에서 원색적 논쟁과 코미디의 형식으로 교직하였다. 과거와 동시대를 다룬 두 편을 함께 연구함으로써, 여성과 젠더를 역사적 흐름과 연결 지어 통시적으로 조망하고, 가부장적 젠더 또 고정된 성의 통념에서 벗어나려는 작가 엄인희의 노력을 극작술의 관점에서 포착할 수 있었다. In the 1990s, women's culture started to develop in full swing in Korean society. With the collapse of Soviet Union followed by the end of the Cold War, democratization, and material affluence, diverse opinions that had been disregarded up to that time started to articulate themselves. In doing so, stances that view sex and gender from different angles began to emerge. These changes were seen in the theater as well. This paper is about the art of playwriting of Um In-Hee, one of the Korean playwrights who had most consistently written plays on women in the 1990s. The paper focuses particularly on That Woman's Novel (1995) and Bedroom and Courtroom (1997) that had been sensational those days. From the viewpoint of art of playwriting, the paper sheds light on how women's body, sex and gender were perceived based on these works. That Woman's Novel explores the lives of women of older generation that were governed by the traditional gender in chronological order, starting from the colonial period. Bedroom and Courtroom is a combination of explicit disputes and comedy, which portrays women of the 1990s as more active toward sex and desire, through the structure of trial play. By examining the work on the past and the work on contemporary society together, the paper provides a diachronic study of women and sex by linking them with historical flow. It also analyzes Um In-Hee's various strategies to break from patriarchal gender and sex from the viewpoint of playwriting.

          삼채 보충식이가 당뇨흰쥐 간의 항산화효소 함량에 미치는 영향

          The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Allium hookeri (AH) root on hepatic antioxidative enzyme contents in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced rats. Diabetes mellitus was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats through injection of STZ dissolved in citrate buffer into tail veins at a dose of 45 mg/kg body weight. Sprague-Dawley rats were fed an AIN-93 recommended diet, and the experimental groups were fed a modified diet containing 5% and 10% of AH root powder for 4 weeks. The experimental groups were divided into four groups: a normal control (N-control), STZ-control, STZ-AH 5%, and STZ-AH 10% supplemented groups. The STZ-AH 5% group showed a significant increase in liver glycogen compared to the STZ-control group. Muscle glycogen and liver protein contents significantly increased in the AH-supplemented groups compared to the STZ-control group. The liver malondialdehyde content of the AH-supplemented group was significantly lower than that of the STZ-control group. Xanthine oxidase content was significantly reduced in all experimental groups. Glutathione-S-transferase content was significantly elevated in the AH-treated groups compared to the STZ-control group. Superoxide dismutase content was not significantly different among the experimental groups. Catalase content was significantly higher in the STZ-AH 10% group compared to the STZ-control group. These results show that supplementation with AH root may be useful for diabetic therapy and damage from oxidative stress.

Sprague- Dawley rats were fed an AIN-93 recommended diet and the experimental groups were fed a modified diet containing 10% and 20% of SBT powder for 4 weeks. The experimental groups were divided into 6 groups which consisted of normal (N)-control group, N-SBT 10% and N-SBT 20% treated groups, STZ-control, STZ-SBT 10% and STZ-SBT 20% treated groups. The rats' body weight, aminotransferase activities and hematocrit (Hct) values were measured along with plasma levels of blood glucose and cholesterol. Body weight losses were observed by diabetic groups While the nondiabetic rats gained weight. There were significant differences between the control group and the diabetic groups in the weight of kidney. Aspartate aminotransferase activity was lower in the non-diabetic group compared to diabetic experimental groups. The blood glucose were significantly decreased in the 10% SBT of diabetic group. The cholesterol level of STZ-SBT 10% and STZ- SBT 20% were significantly lower than for the STZ-control group. These results show that the supplementation of sea buckthorn leave powder may have favorable influence on reducing blood glucose and cholesterol level in STZinduced diabetic rats.
