In conventional robotics, charge-coupled device (CCD) and complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) cameras have been utilized for acquiring vision information. These devices have problems, such as narrow optic angles and inefficiencies in visual information processing. Recently, biomimetic vision sensors for robotic applications have been receiving much attention. These sensors are more efficient than conventional vision sensors in terms of the optic angle, power consumption, dynamic range, and redundancy suppression. This paper presents recent research trends on biomimetic vision sensors and discusses future directions.

In this paper, we propose a wrist rehabilitation training device using pneumatic inflation and deflation of air cells. By alternating inflation and deflation of upper and lower air cells, the device makes the flexional and extensional movement for wrist rehabilitation. With the angular displacement sensor, it measures the flexion-extension angle of the wrist during the training and the bending angle is used for the automatic control of the device. Using the sensor output, the regression equation was obtained to measure the bending angle of the wrist from a wrist rehabilitation training device. The measurement error of the device was evaluated by comparing the measurement output with the angle from the photograph. The measurement error of wrist bending angle between the sensor and photo was $3.2^{\circ}$ in average. With additional test and improvement, the pneumatic wrist rehabilitation training device might be used for rehabilitation training.

We have developed and reported several micro-spikes for minimally invasive biopsy. This paper presents a diagnosis protocol for micro-spike biopsy using paraffin-based tissue collecting tool. Using the proposed tissue collecting tool, which has a negative micro-spike structure in a porous chamber, the biopsied tissue in a micro-spike is effectively detached. The proposed diagnosis protocol prevents the loss of tissues in a paraffin embedding and sectioning process. Hence, it is compatible with conventional histopathology without additional reagents and processes. The gastro-intestinal tissue of a pig is biopsied in an in vivo environment, and then it is detached from a micro-spike using the paraffin-based tissue collecting tool. A histopathological photomicrograph of the detached tissue is acquired with the proposed diagnosis protocol. The acquired image offers clinical quality. This result shows that the paraffin-based tissue collecting tool is applicable to the medical practice.

Mild cognitive impairment is status between healthy people and dementia patients. In order to prevent dementia or slow its progression, cognitive interventions could be effective. In this paper, review of the cognitive intervention with computer software was undertaken. Previous reports showed that the cognitive intervention with additional equipment could practical to the mild cognitive impairment.
