In this paper, a current stimulator circuit with adaptive supply regulator for retinal prosthesis is proposed. In current stimulation systems, the stimulating circuits with wide voltage swing range are needed due to the high impedance of the retina cell and microelectrodes. Thus, previous researches adopt the high voltage architecture to obtain the enough operating range. The high voltage architecture, however, could increase the power consumption and can damage the retina cells. The proposed circuit provides the adaptively regulated supply voltage by measuring the difference between desired stimulation current and the actual stimulation current. The proposed circuit can achieve the extended range of the allowable cell impedance, improved accuracy of the stimulation current, and higher biosafety.

N/A This paper presents a novel z-axis accelerometer with perfectly aligned vertical combs fabricated using the extended sacrificial bulk micromachining (extended SBM) process. The z-axis accelerometer is fabricated using only one 1111) SOI wafer and two photo masks without wafer bonding or CMP processes as used by other research efforts that involve vertical combs. In our process, there is no misalignment in lateral gap between the upper and lower comb electrodes, because all critical dimensions including lateral gaps are defined using only one mask. The fabricated accelerometer has the structure thickness of 30 gm, the vertical offset of 12 gm, and lateral gap between electrodes of 4 gm. Torsional springs and asymmetric proof mass produce a vertical displacement when an external z-axis acceleration is applied, and capacitance change due to the vertical displacement of the comb is detected by charge-to-voltage converter. The signal-to-noise ratio of the modulated and demodulated output signal is 80 dB and 76.5 dB, respectively. The noise equivalent input acceleration resolution of the modulated and demodulated output signal is calculated to be 500 gg and 748.tg. The scale factor and linearity of the accelerometer are measured to be 1.1 mV/g and 1.18% FSO, respectively.

In this paper, modeling of the non-ideal frequency response, especially “notch-and-spike” magnitude phenomenon and phase lag distortion, are discussed. To characterize the non-ideal frequency response, a new electro-mechanical simulation model based on SPICE is proposed using the driving loop of the capacitive vibratory gyroscope. The parasitic components of the driving loop are found to be the major factors of non-ideal frequency response, and it is verified with the measurement results.

As the software development cycles is getting shorter, the software reusability is emphasized accordingly. Specifically, the design reusability is being recognized as one of the most important factor to increase the software quality and productivity and make the maintenance cost down. Two essential abilities are needed to improve the design reusability. One is the identification of the reusable objects, and the other is the organization of the relationships among the objects. However, the existing methods using such as a grammatical analysis, a scenario matching and a unit of design problems(design pattern) have not been proposed proper principles to identify the reusable objects on the basis of the abstraction which is the core of the object-oriented concept. In this paper, we will offer the Two-Pass abstraction principle based in the abstraction concept.
MEMS 용량형 각속도 센서용 CMOS 프로그래머블 인터페이스 회로

본 논문에서는 MEMS 용량형 각속도 센서용 프로그래머블 CMOS 인터페이스 회로를 제작하고, 이를 MEMS 센싱 엘리먼트와 결합하여 평가하였다. 본 회로는 10 bit 프로그래머블 캐패시터 어레이 를 이용한 전하 증폭기, 오프셋 미세 조정을 위한 9 비트 DAC, 출력 민감도의 미세 조정을 위한 10 비트 PGA를 내장하여, 오프셋 및 민감도 오차를 정밀 조정할 수 있다. 제작 결과 자동 이득 제어 회로를 포함한 자가 발진 루프의 정상 동작을 확인하였다. 오프셋 오차와 민감도 오차는 각각 0.36%FSO 와 0.19%FSO 로 측정되었으며, 잡음 등가 해상도와 바이어스 불안정도는 각각 0.016 deg/sec 와 0.012 deg/sec 으로 평가되었다. 본 회로의 조정 기능을 이용하여 MEMS 용량형 각속도 센서의 기생 용량으로 인하여 발생되는 출력 오프셋 및 출력 민감도의 산포를 감소시킬 수 있으며, 이는 센서의 양산성 및 수율 향상에 크게 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. In this paper, the CMOS programmable interface circuit for MEMS gyroscope is presented, and evaluated with the MEMS sensing element. The circuit includes the front-end charge amplifier with 10 bit programmable capacitor arrays, 9 bit DAC for accurate offset calibration, and 10 bit PGA for accurate gain calibration. The self oscillation loop with automatic gain control operates properly. The offset error and gain error after calibration are measured to be 0.36 %FSO and 0.19 %FSO, respectively. The noise equivalent resolution and bias instability are measured to be 0.016 deg/sec and 0.012 deg/sec, respectively. The calibration capability of this circuit can reduce the variations of the output offset and gain, and this can enhance the manufacturability and can improve the yield.

Test devices can perform various functions, such as research on detection targets, sensors that detect detection targets, combined products containing sensors, and certification for the launch of combined products. However, the scope of use of test devices is limited because they perform only a single role or could only serve a particular purpose in the past. Therefore, studies on test devices that can perform various functions, such as research on detection targets, sensors that detect detection targets, combined products containing sensors, and certification for the release of combined products are necessary. Accordingly, this study proposes a test device that can increase the scope of use in the technical field of electric fires. In addition, we examine various outcomes of the proposed test device.
