The Purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of maternity apparel style and job type on the likability and the occupational competence of pregnant working women. This study was 3^*2 factorial design. Independent variables of this study were maternity apparel style(feminine style, neutral style, and masculine style) and job type(assitant manager of bank and salesperson). Dependent variables were the likability and the occupational competence of the stimuli. One hundred eighty college females participated in the study, in which half of the subject viewed the stimuli as a salesperson and the other half as an assistant manager of bank. The results showed that maternity apparel style influenced the perception of likability(F(2, 174)=6.97, p<.001) and occupational competence(F(2,174) = 16.25, p<.001) significantly. Also Job type influenced the occupational competence(F(1,174)=3.94, p<.05) signifcantly. There was a significant interaction(F(2,174)=2.53 p<.10) between maternity apparel style and job type. In future researches, diverse job distinction other than the classification of being professional or non-being professional can be arranged to study the influence of job type. Also it is recommended to explore the interaction between the appearance cues except clothing and job type.

This study was intended to examine the effect of consumer materialism, price and point-of-purchase advertisements on consumer preference and purchasing intention with respect to discount jeans. Information for the study was obtained through the use of an experimental design which was 2×(2×3) mixed factorial design. The subjects were two hundred and seventy college male and female students. The data were analysed with factor analysis, ANOVA by using the SAS program. The main results were as follows: First, the results indicated that the 3-way interaction effects among materialism, price and point-of-purchase advertisements on consumer preference. Second, the results showed the 2-way interaction effects between materialism and price between materialism and price on consumers purchasing behavior. These results indicated that materialism have not direct effect on consumers purchasing behavior but significant influence under those condition in which price effect occurs. And different from other point-of-purchase advertisements, power words advertisements show negative effects on consumer preference in case of low price jeans, having no connection with materialism level.
한국과 미국 패션제품의 가격과 객관적 품질에 관한 비교연구 : 1990 년대를 중심으로 Focused on 1990`s

Although importance of the price and objective quality relationships, very few studies have investigated the relationship related to apparel products. The purpose of this study were to examine 1990's the relationship between price and objective apparel products quality in the Korea Market and the United States market. Data sources in this study consisted of consumer magazines which were published by nonprofit organizations(1990∼1999) : Consumer Times(Korea), and Consumer Reports(U.S.A). The results showed that the correlation between price and objective apparel products quality were very weak positive and highly dependent upon the specific apparel product categories. Therefore, price was not a reliable measure of apparel products quality in the two countries market places. This study will help the consumer understand the relationship between price cues and apparel product objective quality and provide additional information to enhance purchase decision making.

Background: Many epidemiological studies suggest the pathogenic role of serum uric acid level in development of hypertension. Several cross-sectional studies have shown the relationship between uric acid and development of hypertension in Korea. We investigated whether uric acid associates with the development of hypertension in a retrospective cohort study. Methods: We included 2,353 people who did not have hypertension initially and underwent general medical examination between 1997 and 1998 and were re-examined after 10 years later. Study people divided into three groups according to serum uric acid level tertiles. Results: The incidences of hypertension in tertile groups were 14.1% (108/764), 22.0% (175/769), and 24.3% (193/793) and they showed statistically significant difference. We performed multivariable logistic regression with serum uric acid and other risk factors of hypertension. The incidence of hypertension in second and third tertile group were significantly higher than first tertile group (odds ratio [OR], 1.53; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.11 to 2.10; P = 0.009 in second tertile group and OR, 1.66; 95% CI, 1.17 to 2.37; P = 0.005 in third tertile group). Conclusion: Serum uric acid level is associated with the development of hypertension. 연구배경: 여러 역학적인 연구들이 혈청 요산 값과 고혈압 발생 사이의 관련성에 대해 보고하고 있으며 국내에서도 몇몇단면 연구들에서 요산과 고혈압 발생 간의 관련성이 보고되었으나 장기간의 종적 연구는 부족한 상태다. 본 연구는 일반인을 대상으로 후향적 코호트 연구를 통해 요산과 고혈압 발생 사이의 관련성을 보고자 하였다. 방법: 서울 시내 일개 대학병원 1997년에서 1998년 건강검진수검자 중 10년 후 재차 검진 시행한 사람을 대상으로 최초 검진 당시 고혈압이 있었던 사람들은 배제하였다(N=2,353). 대상자들은 최초 검진 시 혈청 요산 값에 따라 낮은 군을 1분위군으로 하고 높은 군을 3분위 군으로 하여 삼분위 수로 나누어각 군간 10년 후 고혈압 발생의 차이를 분석하였다. 결과: 각 3분위 군에 따른 고혈압의 발생률은 14.1% (108/764), 22.0% (175/769), 24.3% (193/793)로 유의하게 차이가 있Sunjin Hwang, et al: Relationship between Serum Uric Acid Level and Hypertension: A Retrospective Cohort Study 678 | Vol. 31, No. 9 Sep 2010 Korean J Fam Med 었다. 요산 삼분위 군과 함께 고혈압 발생에 영향을 미치는 변수들을 포함하여 다중 로지스틱 회귀분석을 시행하였으며, 3분위 군과 2분위 군은 1분위 군에 비해 고혈압 발생의 교차비가 각각 1.66 (95% 신뢰구간, 1.17-2.37; P=0.005), 1.53 (95% 신뢰구간, 1.11-2.10; P=0.009)로 유의하게 높았다. 결론: 혈청 요산 값은 고혈압 발생과 관련된 인자들을 보정한상태에서 고혈압 발생과 유의하게 관련이 있었다.
