This paper aims to discuss the intrinsic intermediality of written text from the perspective of media linguistics. The mediality of written text is characterized by diagrammaticality (i.e., mediality based on the notions of iconicity and diagram): diagram, one of the three types of iconicity in Peircean semiotics, depicts relational–structural similarities between the sign and its object. One strand of media linguistics emphasizes the mediality of language and written texts are treated as phenomena of intrinsic intermediality, or interactions between orality and pictoriality. The diagrammaticality of written text thus includes semiotic planarity, two-dimensionality, controlled visuality, digital discreteness, and creativity.
윤관보존을 위한 개선된 벡터 양자화 알고리즘에 관한 연구

In this paper, we present a digital image data compression method using vector quantization preserving edges. A new vector quantization algorithm is proposed using a new sampling method and edge region extraction. The codebook generation time is faster than existing algorithms and the quality of decompressed images is much improved. Extrimental results suggest that the resultant compression ratio and PSNR are better than those of BPVQ and HMVQ methods.
내용적 연관성을 지니는 문법 현상 “미래 시제”와 “접속법 2I”에 관하여 - 의미적 특성 및 텍스트 문맥 구조 고찰

This paper observed two German grammatical phenomena “future tense” and “imperfect subjunctive”, which are related to each other semantically. German grammarians have also attempted to explain and to describe both phenomina. But they have treated the grammatical categories in isolated sentences and their interests were limited to the formal structure and sentential semantics. Therefore, not many studies have been performed on the future tense and imperfect subjunctive in the contextual level. This paper aims to fill this gap: Each has its own semantic characteristics and the features are revealed in specific contextual structures. A sentence in the future tense means a guessed event, namely an unreal event which can be realized in most cases. High probability of realization is given in the context. The same applies to the imperfect subjunctive. A sentence in the imperfect subjunctive means either a potential or contrafactual event and each event demands a specific contextual condition.

본 논문은 지식베이스를 이용한 영역이해에 관한 것으로 영역지식원과 제어지식원을 분리, 영역 지식원을 특징량에 따라 계층적으로 모델링하여 시스템을 구현함으로써 화상의 이해율 및 지식원의 정합율을 향상시키고 검증처리속도를 개선하였으며 전문적인 경험적 지식의 집적화와 갱신이 가능하도록 하였다. In this paper, we present a region understanding method using knowledge base. we splited domain knowledge sources and control knowledge sources and implimented image understanding system modeled on domain knowledge sources hiearchically according to minutia. The purposes of this paper are to improve the understanding rate for images and the matching rate of knowledge sources and to advance the processing times for verification. Therefore, it is possible to integrate and renovate the technical heuristic-knowledge.

Sollen die pradigmatische und syntagmatische Beziehung in bezug auf einen Einzelsatz Festgesellt serden? - Erweiterung der Betrachtungsperspektive fu¨r den kommunikationsorientierten Fremdsprachenunterricht Die Begriffe der paradigmatischen und syntagmatischen Beziehung, die eigentlich aus einer bestimmten Sprachtheorie, na¨mlich ausder von Ferdinand de Saussure begru¨ndeten strukturalistischen, stammen, sind im sprachwissenschaftlichen Bereich weit bekannt und werden heutzutage noch ha¨ufig behandelt und angewendet. Die beiden Begriffe gelten aber allein als theoretiund zur systematischen Beobachtung bzw. Analyse eines komple xen Sprachpha¨nomens verwendet werden. Die beiden haben auc eime grobe Bedeutung in bezug auf den Fremdsprachenunterricht. Sie ko¨nnen na¨mlich als Grundprinziien dafu¨r, Sprachmatialien, die im Unterricht gelehrt bzw. gelernt werden mu¨ssen, zu systematisieren und registrieren. Aber die beiden Begriffe, also die paradigmatische und syntagematische Beziehung, sing bisher in den Fremdsprachenunterrichten nicht zweckma¨big verwendet worden. Sin wurden allein in bezug auf einen isolierten Einzelsatz behandelt, was fu¨r den kommunikationsorientierten Fremdsprachenunterricht nicht gu¨nstig ist. Es ist also erforderlich, dab die beiden Begriffe u¨ber die Satzgrenze hinaus im Text festgesellt werden, wofu¨r vorausgesetzt ist, dab man bei der Betrachtung der sprachlichen Gro¨ben deren kommunikativ-funktionale Verha¨ltnisse im Text mitberur¨cksichtigt.

As long as the foreign language education pursues not the theoretical knowledge but the actual ability of language use. particular components of the education should be comply with the aim. The "actual ability of language use" is not limited to an ability to speak correctly, which can be accomplished by using correct rules. It means rather an ability to speak adequately in any given communicational situation and an ability to fulfill speaker's own communicational purpose. Therefore, the grammar as a necessary component of the education should also be not the correctly but the adequately speaking one. In connection with this, the way how the grammar is treated in existing foreign language education can be criticized. It fails to intermediate the learners' actual communicational abilities. In order to overcome the problems. following proposals can be made in principle. Firstly, particular factors which a grammar is composed of should be observed in such a way that their communicative functional properties can be understood. As a presupposition. the authentic texts containing the sentences of contextual conditions, not the isolated ones, should be the main object of the research. Secondly, it should be considered how the factors can be applied to a grammar teaching. In doing so, two things should be excluded if possible. The first one is that the factor can be understood merely theoretically, and the second one that it can be recognized in the language system, hence, cannot appear in a text.

One of the most acute events which the text linguistics is concerned with is the following question: "How can a conception of the text be worked out which is consequent and productive for treating the language linguistically?" In order to establish such a text conception it is presupposed that the text coherence is investigated and explained correctly and completely. This article aims to extend the empirical bases of the text coherence: The comparative comparison as a semantic phanomen is able to perform a nexus of the sentences, i. e. "text coherence", by means of its structural or also communicative-functional conditions.
