The objective of the current study was to evaluate the effects of garlic extract (GE) supplementation on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, carcass characteristics and meat composition in broiler chickens. The experimental diets consisted of a corn-soy based control diet supplemented with 0, 100 or 200 ㎎/㎏ GE. Diets were given to the starter and finisher period. In the growth trial, GE supplementation had no effect on weight gain, but there were trend in improving growth rate in treatment fed diets containing 100ppm GE during overall period. However, FCR of 100ppm GE treatments were significantly (P < 0.05) lower than control groups. Dietary supplementation with GE enhanced (P < 0.05) the digestibilities of DM and CP. Carcass characteristics, meat and bone composition were similar among the treatments. In conclusion, supplementation of GE enhanced feed efficiency and digestibilities in broilers.
