        TinyIBAK: Design and Prototype Implementation of An Identity-based Authenticated Key Agreement Scheme for Large Scale Sensor Networks

        In this paper, we propose an authenticated key agreement scheme, TinyIBAK, based on the identity-based cryptography and bilinear paring, for large scale sensor networks. We prove the security of our proposal in the random oracle model. According to the formal security validation using AVISPA, the proposed scheme is strongly secure against the passive and active attacks, such as replay, man-in-the middle and node compromise attacks, etc. We implemented our proposal for TinyOS-2.1, analyzed the memory occupation, and evaluated the time and energy performance on the MICAz motes using the Avrora toolkits. Moreover, we deployed our proposal within the TOSSIM simulation framework, and investigated the effect of node density on the performance of our scheme. Experimental results indicate that our proposal consumes an acceptable amount of resources, and is feasible for infrequent key distribution and rekeying in large scale sensor networks. Compared with other ID-based key agreement approaches, TinyIBAK is much more efficient or comparable in performance but provides rekeying. Compared with the traditional key pre-distribution schemes, TinyIBAK achieves significant improvements in terms of security strength, key connectivity, scalability, communication and storage overhead, and enables efficient secure rekeying.

        RPIDA: Recoverable Privacy-preserving Integrity-assured Data Aggregation Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks

        To address the contradiction between data aggregation and data security in wireless sensor networks, a Recoverable Privacy-preserving Integrity-assured Data Aggregation (RPIDA) scheme is proposed based on privacy homomorphism and aggregate message authentication code. The proposed scheme provides both end-to-end privacy and data integrity for data aggregation in WSNs. In our scheme, the base station can recover each sensing data collected by all sensors even if these data have been aggregated by aggregators, thus can verify the integrity of all sensing data. Besides, with these individual sensing data, base station is able to perform any further operations on them, which means RPIDA is not limited in types of aggregation functions. The security analysis indicates that our proposal is resilient against typical security attacks; besides, it can detect and locate the malicious nodes in a certain range. The performance analysis shows that the proposed scheme has remarkable advantage over other asymmetric schemes in terms of computation and communication overhead. In order to evaluate the performance and the feasibility of our proposal, the prototype implementation is presented based on the TinyOS platform. The experiment results demonstrate that RPIDA is feasible and efficient for resource-constrained sensor nodes.

        Economic Dispatch of Multi Region Electric and Heat Energy System Using Two Stage Demand Response for Better Integration of Wind Power

        The stochastic fl uctuation characteristics of wind power and the operation mode of ‘determined power by heat’ of the combined heat and power unit are the main reasons for the large amount of abandoning wind during the winter heating period in the ‘Three-North’ regions of China. In order to suppress wind power fl uctuations and improve the self-regulation ability, the heat pipe network model at unit side is proposed in this paper. On this basis, the price demand respond is introduced at load side to reduce the scheduling pressure caused by the uncertainty of wind power. Firstly, the day ahead consumption model of segment electricity price demand response is developed based on the day ahead wind power prediction; Furthermore, according to the results of the intraday wind power prediction, the intraday electricity price with wind variation demand response is introduced to guide the secondary load response. Thus, a two-stage demand response economic dispatch model of multi-region electric and heat system is established in this paper. Example analysis shows the eff ectiveness and superiority of the proposed dispatching model.

        Accurate measurement of residual stresses of 2219-T87 aluminum alloy friction stir welding joints based on properties of joints

        In order to avoid the deviation caused by calculating the residual stresses of welding joints with the release coefficients of the same parent metal, a new method has been proposed based on the properties of weld joints. Since the mechanical property of 2195-F Al alloy is close to that of 2219-T87 Al alloy Friction stir welding (FSW) joint, 2195-F Al alloy is selected as the substitute material of 2219-T87 Al alloy FSW joint in the calibration test. Release coefficients of 2195-F Al alloy and proper correction coefficient are used to calculate the residual stresses of 2219-T87 Al alloy FSW joints. Compared to the results calculated with release coefficients of its parent metal, it has been proved that the proposed correction method is more precise in residual stresses measurement of weld joints. The mathematical analysis and the results of verification tests have shown that this new method is reliable, and it will provide guidance in academic research and engineering application of the spherical indentation strain-gauge method.

        Optimal Dispatch for a Combined Cooling, Heating and Power Microgrid Considering Building Virtual Energy Storage

        Because buildings have certain heat capacity, when the thermal power changes, the indoor temperature has a relative lag of change, while the feeling to comfortable temperature of the human body lies within a certain range. Based on the energy storage characteristics of buildings, this paper structures the optimal dispatch model of a combined cooling, heating, and power system (CCHP) and the virtual energy storage system (VESS) is integrated into the model of optimizing schedule on microgrid. This will achieve the charge and discharge management of microgrid virtual energy storage system, with the optimization objectives of minimizing the economic, environmental and energy indexes through determining the weight coeffi cient of each index by analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and through the adjustment of the indoor temperature of the building within the range of human comfort. Finally, taking the summer refrigeration scenario as an example and comparing two microgrids of two types of buildings with or without virtual energy storage, this paper concludes that compared with traditional optimization dispatching methods, the combined cooling, heating, and power optimization dispatching method adopting virtual energy storage fully excavates the potential of the buildings’ virtual storage and every aspect has been improved in terms of economy, environment and energy.

        Simplifi ed Calculation Methods for Static Behaviors of Triple-Tower Suspension Bridges and Parametric Study

        In this paper, simplifi ed formulas to determine the static behaviors of triple-tower suspension bridges were derived, including the formulas for the force of main cable, the defl ection of the stiff ening girder, the safety factor of anti-slipping on the saddle and the moment of the tower under the live load. Also, formulas were verifi ed by a fi nite element model for three triple-tower suspension bridges with main span of 1500, 2000 and 2500 m. In the end, a parametric study was performed to investigate the infl uence of sag to span ratio, ratio of side span to main span as well as the stiff ness of mid tower on the static performance using analytical method.

        Simulation study on measuring pulverized coal concentration in power plant boiler

        During thermal power coal-fired boiler operation, it is very important to detect the pulverized coalconcentration in the air pipeline for the boiler combustion stability and economic security. Because the currentmeasurement methods used by power plants are often involved with large measurement errors and unable tomonitor the pulverized coal concentration in real-time, a new method is needed. In this paper, a new methodbased on microwave circular waveguide is presented. High Frequency Electromagnetic Simulation (HFSS)software was used to construct a simulation model for measuring pulverized coal concentration in power plantpipeline. Theoretical analysis and simulation experiments were done to find the effective microwave emissionfrequency, installation angle, the type of antenna probe, antenna installation distance and other importantparameters. Finally, field experiment in Jilin Thermal Power Plant proved that with selected parameters, themeasuring device accurately reflected the changes in the concentration of pulverized coal.

        Combined Lowering Effects of Rosuvastatin and L. acidophilus on Cholesterol Levels in Rat

        Statins are a class of lipid-lowering drugs commonly used in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. However, statin therapy presents many limitations, which have led to an increased interest in non-drug therapies, such as probiotics, to improve blood cholesterol levels. Indeed, probiotic strains such as Lactobacillus acidophilus have been found to improve blood lipid profiles, especially in reducing total cholesterol and LDL-C levels. In this study, we established a high-cholesterol rat model and studied the effect of Lactobacillus acidophilus administration alone or in combination with rosuvastatin. We were able to show that Lactobacillus exerts a cholesterol-lowering effect. Additionally, we observed that when administered together, rosuvastin and Lactobacillus exert a combined cholesterol-lowering effect. Altogether, our data advocate for the possibility of establishing probiotics as non-drug supplements for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia.

        Sodium aescinate alleviates bone cancer pain in rats by suppressing microglial activation via p38 MAPK/c-Fos signaling

        Background Bone cancer pain (BCP) severely compromises the life quality of patients with advanced cancer or bone metastases . Objective This study investigates the analgesic effect of sodium aescinate (SA) on BCP, and the underlying mechanisms within the spinal cord (SC) and dorsal root ganglion (DRG). Walker 256 cells were intratibially inoculated into rats to establish a BCP model. 10, 20, and 40 g/L of SA was intrathecally injected, respectively, and then, hyperalgesia and allodynia were evaluated by measuring the paw withdrawal threshold (PWT) and paw withdrawal latency (PWL). The effect of SA on neuroinflammation was observed by detecting the production of the pro-inflammatory cytokines based on RT-qPCR and ELISA. The NF-κB and p38 MAPK/c-Fos signaling was detected by WB analysis. Furthermore, RT-qPCR and WB analyses of Iba-1and CD206 were performed to assess microglial activation. Result The development of hyperalgesia and allodynia, and an increase of pro-inflammatory cytokines production, as well as microglial activation, were observed in the BCP rats. SA (40 g/L) not only relieved the pain-related behaviors induced by BCP but also suppressed the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and the activation of microglia in the SC and DRG. SA could also inhibit p38 MAPK/c-Fos signaling in both the SC and DRG, which might contribute to the suppression of microglial activation. Conclusion Our findings suggest that SA plays a promising analgesic role in the BCP rats by suppressing infl ammation and microglial activation, and these effects may be associated with the suppression of p38 MAPK/c-Fos signaling.
