Patient preferences and shared decision making for the traditional Chinese medicine treatment of lung cancer: A discrete choice experiment study

        Teng Yue,Wei Yan,Chen Yingyao,Yan Juntao,Liu Shimeng,Li Fuming,Bao Shiyi,Ren Yanfeng,Liu Liu,Yang Yi 한국한의학연구원 2023 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.12 No.3

Background: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), integrating patient preferences into decision-making process, has been widely used in the multimodality therapy of lung cancer. This study aimed to estimate patient preferences for treatment and shared decision-making (SDM) modes concerning inpatient TCM treatment of lung cancer in Shanghai in order to provide a basis for clinical decision-making process on TCM therapy for lung cancer. Methods: This study was conducted among patients (n = 347) from nine tertiary hospitals in Shanghai by discrete-choice experiment (DCE) survey and Shared Decision-Making Questionnaire-patient version (SDM-Q-9) survey. The DCE was developed with the inclusion of the most relevant attributes at appropriate levels for the TCM treatment of lung cancer. The empirical data analyses of patients were performed using mixed logit models. Additionally, subgroup analysis was conducted. Results: In total, 347 respondents completed the questionnaire. All attributes’ coefficients were statistically significant for patients’ preferences. Patients showed strong preferences for increasing disease control rate, relieving nausea and vomiting, reducing the risk of side effects, and were concerned about monthly out-of-pocket costs. Subgroup analysis indicated that patients with a lower SDM-Q-9 score and those who were satisfied with medical services emphasized more importance of higher disease control rate. Furthermore, most of the patients (90.20%) self-reported a high willingness to use SDM during the decision-making process. Conclusion: In Shanghai, patients mainly preferred SDM and considered disease control rate as the most essential attribute in the TCM treatment of lung cancer. The study findings could underscore the importance of considering patients’ preferences and promote SDM.

A phase II trial of cytoreductive surgery combined with niraparib maintenance in platinum-sensitive, secondary recurrent ovarian cancer: SGOG SOC-3 study

        Ting-Yan Shi,Sheng Yin,Jianqing Zhu,Ping Zhang,Jihong Liu,Libing Xiang,Yaping Zhu,Sufang Wu,Xiaojun Chen,Xipeng Wang,Yin-Cheng Teng,Tao Zhu,Aijun Yu,Yingli Zhang,Yanling Feng,He Huang,Wei Bao,Yanli Li 대한부인종양학회 2020 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.31 No.3

Background: In China, secondary cytoreductive surgery (SCR) has been widely used in ovarian cancer (OC) over the past two decades. Although Gynecologic Oncology Group-0213 trial did not show its overall survival benefit in first relapsed patients, the questions on patient selection and effect of subsequent targeting therapy are still open. The preliminary data from our pre-SOC1 phase II study showed that selected patients with second relapse who never received SCR at recurrence may still benefit from surgery. Moreover, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) maintenance now has been a standard care for platinum sensitive relapsed OC. To our knowledge, no published or ongoing trial is trying to answer the question if patient can benefit from a potentially complete resection combined with PARPi maintenance in OC patients with secondary recurrence. Methods: SOC-3 is a multi-center, open, randomized, controlled, phase II trial of SCR followed by chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance vs chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance in patients with platinum-sensitive second relapsed OC who never received SCR at recurrence. To guarantee surgical quality, if the sites had no experience of participating in any OC-related surgical trials, the number of recurrent lesions evaluated by central-reviewed positron emission tomography–computed tomography image shouldn't be more than 3. Eligible patients are randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either SCR followed by 6 cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance or 6 cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance alone. Patients who undergo at least 4 cycles of chemotherapy and must be, in the opinion of the investigator, without disease progression, will be assigned niraparib maintenance. Major inclusion criteria are secondary relapsed OC with a platinum-free interval of no less than 6 months and a possibly complete resection. Major exclusion criteria are borderline tumors and non-epithelial ovarian malignancies, received debulking surgery at recurrence and impossible to complete resection. The sample size is 96 patients. Primary endpoint is 12-month non-progression rate. Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03983226

Xiulin Sui,Yan Teng,YongQiu Chen,XueHui Wang 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.7 No.5

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a non-contact automatic identification technology, without human intervention. It is convenient to apply and it can identify fast moving objects. Around the tool and the tool information, the problem of low operational efficiency and low degree of tool management information are still unsolved. In this paper, RFID technology is applied in the tool automatic identification and management system. The tool automatic identification and database management system based on RFID is built. The application model, tool information database design and Upper Computer management software of the RFID in tool identification and management are analyzed. The overall architecture and the software function module of the system are constructed. The database management system is developed by the LabVIEW software. The interface design between LabVIEW and Access database is completed by using ActiveX, as a result, the information of Access database can be written-in and read-out by the management system. Meanwhile, the communication protocol between the Upper Computer and Lower Computer is programed that based on VISA. The RS232 is applied to make the communication between the Upper Computer and Lower Computer come true. Finally, take the SECO's Solid Carbide Ball-end Milling Cutter as an example to have an experiment. Through the experiment, the system proved to be with high reliability and efficiency.

      • Storing and Updating XML Data Tree based on Linked Lists

Teng Lv,Ping Yan 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.8 No.4

XML has become the de facto standard for data exchange and transformation on the World Wide Web and is widely used in many applications of various fields, so it is urgent to develop some efficient methods to manage, store, query, and update XML data. There are two main methods to do this: the first method is a native approach which uses native XML databases to store XML data, and the second method use other mature commercial databases approaches to store and manage XML data considering the advantages of mature technologies of the commercial databases, especially use relational databases to store, query, and update XML data. For relational databases approach, although it can take advantage of mature technologies of relational databases, it needs to map XML data to relational data. In this paper, we research the problem of how to store XML data so that storing and updating of original XML data can be efficient than relational approach. We proposed a method to store XML data into linked lists with inverted index, in which the relationships between nodes of XML data tree are preserved by the links in linked lists. Inverted index are created for linked lists for efficiently querying and updating XML data tree. Two kinds of updates are considered including inserting a new node in or deleted an existed old node from XML data tree. Theoretical analysis of our algorithms shows that the methods proposed in the paper are efficient.

Structural, Half-metallic and Magnetic Properties of the Imperfect Pb₂FeReO6 Containing Eight Different Inherent Defects

        Yan Zhang,Hua-Xin Chen,Li Duan,Lei Ni,Ji-Bin Fan,Jie Wang,Guang-Teng Ci,Vincent Ji 한국자기학회 2019 Journal of Magnetics Vol.24 No.3

The structural, half-metallic (HM) and magnetic properties of the imperfect Pb₂FeReO6 containing eight different inherent defects of the FeRe or ReFe antisites, Fe1-Re1 or Fe1-Re4 interchanges, VFe, VRe, VO or VPb vacancies have been studied by first-principles calculations. No obvious structural changes are observed for FeRe or ReFe antisites, Fe1-Re1 or Fe1-Re4 interchanges and VPb vacancy defects, however, the six (two) nearest neighbors O (Fe or Re) of the vacancy move away from (close to) VFe or VRe (VO) vacancies. The HM character is maintained for FeRe or ReFe antisites, far Fe1-Re4 interchange, VFe, VO or VPb vacancies, while vanished for near Fe1-Re1 interchange or VRe vacancy. So the near Fe1-Re1 interchange or VRe vacancy defects should be avoided to preserve the HM character of the Pb₂FeReO6 and thus usable in spintronics devices. Except for the FeRe antisite case with a slightly higher total moment, the total moments μtot of the imperfect Pb₂FeReO6 with the other seven inherent defects are smaller than 3.96 μB/f.u. of the perfect Pb₂FeReO6.

Ultrathin Two-Dimensional Atomic Crystals as Stable Interfacial Layer for Improvement of Lithium Metal Anode

        Yan, Kai,Lee, Hyun-Wook,Gao, Teng,Zheng, Guangyuan,Yao, Hongbin,Wang, Haotian,Lu, Zhenda,Zhou, Yu,Liang, Zheng,Liu, Zhongfan,Chu, Steven,Cui, Yi American Chemical Society 2014 NANO LETTERS Vol.14 No.10

<P>Stable cycling of lithium metal anode is challenging due to the dendritic lithium formation and high chemical reactivity of lithium with electrolyte and nearly all the materials. Here, we demonstrate a promising novel electrode design by growing two-dimensional (2D) atomic crystal layers including hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and graphene directly on Cu metal current collectors. Lithium ions were able to penetrate through the point and line defects of the 2D layers during the electrochemical deposition, leading to sandwiched lithium metal between ultrathin 2D layers and Cu. The 2D layers afford an excellent interfacial protection of Li metal due to their remarkable chemical stability as well as mechanical strength and flexibility, resulting from the strong intralayer bonds and ultrathin thickness. Smooth Li metal deposition without dendritic and mossy Li formation was realized. We showed stable cycling over 50 cycles with Coulombic efficiency ∼97% in organic carbonate electrolyte with current density and areal capacity up to the practical value of 2.0 mA/cm2and 5.0 mAh/cm2, respectively, which is a significant improvement over the unprotected electrodes in the same electrolyte.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/nalefd/2014/nalefd.2014.14.issue-10/nl503125u/production/images/medium/nl-2014-03125u_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nl503125u'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

Spatio-temporal Load Forecasting Considering Aggregation Features of Electricity Cells and Uncertainties in Input Variables

        Teng Zhao,Yan Zhang,Haibo Chen 대한전기학회 2018 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.13 No.1

Spatio-temporal load forecasting (STLF) is a foundation for building the prediction-based power map, which could be a useful tool for the visualization and tendency assessment of urban energy application. Constructing one point-forecasting model for each electricity cell in the geographic space is possible; however, it is unadvisable and insufficient, considering the aggregation features of electricity cells and uncertainties in input variables. This paper presents a new STLF method, with a data-driven framework consisting of 3 subroutines: multi-level clustering of cells considering their aggregation features, load regression for each category of cells based on SLS-SVRNs (sparse least squares support vector regression networks), and interval forecasting of spatio-temporal load with sampled blind number. Take some area in Pudong, Shanghai as the region of study. Results of multilevel clustering show that electricity cells in the same category are clustered in geographic space to some extent, which reveals the spatial aggregation feature of cells. For cellular load regression, a comparison has been made with 3 other forecasting methods, indicating the higher accuracy of the proposed method in point-forecasting of spatio-temporal load. Furthermore, results of interval load forecasting demonstrate that the proposed prediction-interval construction method can effectively convey the uncertainties in input variables.

PERIODIC SOLUTION TO DELAYED HIGH-ORDER COHEN-GROSSBERG NEURAL NETWORKS WITH REACTION-DIFFUSION TERMS

Teng Lv,Ping Yan 한국전산응용수학회 2010 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.28 No.1

In this paper, we study delayed high-order Cohen-Grossberg neural networks with reaction-diffusion terms and Neumann boundary conditions. By using inequality techniques and constructing Lyapunov functional method, some sufficient conditions are given to ensure the existence and convergence of the periodic oscillatory solution. Finally, an example is given to verify the theoretical analysis.

      • On Uncertain Probabilistic Data Modeling

Teng Lv,Ping Yan,Weimin He 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.9 No.12

Uncertainty in data is caused by various reasons including data itself, data mapping, and data policy. For data itself, data are uncertain because of various reasons. For example, data from a sensor network, Internet of Things or Radio Frequency Identification is often inaccurate and uncertain because of devices or environmental factors. For data mapping, integrated data from various heterogonous data sources is commonly uncertain because of uncertain data mapping, data inconsistency, missing data, and dirty data. For data policy, data is modified or hided for policies of data privacy and data confidentiality in an organization. But traditional deterministic data management mainly deals with deterministic data which is precise and certain, and cannot process uncertain data. Modeling uncertain data is a foundation of other technologies for further processing data, such as indexing, querying, searching, mapping, integrating, and mining data, etc. Probabilistic data models of relational databases, XML data and graph data are widely used in many applications and areas today, such as World Wide Web, semantic web, sensor networks, Internet of Things, mobile ad-hoc networks, social networks, traffic networks, biological networks, genome databases, and medical records, etc. This paper presents a survey study of different probabilistic models of uncertain data in relational databases, XML data, and graph data, respectively. The advantages and disadvantages of each kind of probabilistic modes are analyzed and compared. Further open topics of modeling uncertain probabilistic data such as semantic and computation aspects are discussed in the paper. Criteria for modeling uncertain data, such as expressive power, complexity, efficiency, extension are also proposed in the paper.

        Yan Qiu,Tianjie Pu,Li Li,Fei Cheng,Changli Lu,Linyong Sun,Xiao Teng,Feng Ye,Hong Bu 한국유방암학회 2014 Journal of breast cancer Vol.17 No.1

Purpose: It is widely accepted that aldehyde dehydrogenase(ALDH) activity is a signature of breast cancer stem cells, andhigh activity has been reported to be associated with poor clinicaloutcome. The aim of this study was to assess the expressionof members of the ALDH family of isozymes in breast cancer tissuesand to evaluate the implications of the results. Methods: Weanalyzed paraffin-embedded tumor tissue from 160 patients withbreast cancer. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining was performedon the slides using antibodies against different ALDHfamily members. We collated the IHC results with patient clinicalcharacteristics and determined their prognostic value. In addition,we analyzed normal, hyperplastic, and carcinomatous tissues insitu to check their ALDH distributions. Results: All the testedALDH members were detected in the various tissue types, but atdifferent levels. Only ALDH 1A3 was found to be significantly associatedwith distant metastasis (p=0.001), disease-free survival(p<0.001), and overall survival (p<0.001). Conclusion: The levelof ALDH 1A3 in breast cancer tissue is a predictive marker of apoor clinical outcome.
