Cells immunoreactive to insulin(INS-IR) and neuropeptide Y(NPY-IR) were found in prenatal(E15, 17, 19) and postnatal(P0, 5, 10, 15, 30, adult) rat pancreas using immunohistochemistry. Pancreatic INS-IR and NPY-IR were detected by day E17. They were found initially in the interlobular pancreatic duct, intralobular pancreatic duct and pancreatic islet gradually. Especially, INS-IR was detected in the dorsal pancreatic bud by day E19. The INS-IR and NPY-IR patterns were nearly similiar to each other, and many cells revealed colocalization of INS and NPY until day P10. But there was a change between them by the day P15 ; central INS-IR cells and peripheral NPY-IR in the pancreatic islet. The number of pancreatic islets per square millimeter of pancreatic tissue were decreased, and the number of immunoreactive endocrine cells per islet was increased according to development. These results suggest NPY may play a role in the development of the pancreatic endocrine cells.

Cerebral cysticercosis is relatively common disease in Korea. But cysts in the ventricular system are rare form. In the ventricular system, they occur most frequently in the 4th ventricle, more rarely in the lateral and 3rd ventricle. We have recently experienced a case of cerebral cysticercosis which involved the 3rd ventricle. A sixty-year old man was admitted because of generalized seizure attack followed by drowsy mentation. On admission, there were no specific localizing and lateralizing neurological abnormalities except bilateral, mild degree optic papilledema. Brain CT scan after intraventricular metrizamide administration disclose a cystic mass in the third ventricle. And the serum ELISA test was positive(patient' s titer : 0.31, normal : below 0.18). Anterior trancallosal approach was performed and cystic mass was removed from the third ventricle. Pathological diagnosis of the specimen was cysticercosis. Following surgery, the patient's symptom cleared up and papilledema disappeared gradually.

The purpose of this study is to investigate initial nutritional status of stomach cancer patients. The study subjects were 88 patients with stomach cancer admitted at Kosin University Gospel Hospital in Busan. We assessed the initial nutritional status by anthropometric, biochemical and dietary intake data along with subjective global assessment(SGA). The results are as fallows: 1. The mean age, weight, height, triceps skinfold thickness, mid arm circumference, and mid arm muscle circumference of the subjects were 55.9±11.0years, 60.0±9.8㎏, 162.4±8.5㎝, 10.9±5.7㎜, 26.8±3.8㎝, and 23.4±3.5㎝ respectively. The mean body mass index was within the normal range, with 22.7±2.8㎏/㎡, white 15.4% of the patients was underweight. The result shows that body fat mass and body protein mass of the patients with stomach cancer were decreased. 2. The mean biochemical data of the subjects were 4.0±0.5g/dl for albumin, 174.7±41.9㎎/dl for cholesterol, 107.6±57.2㎎/dl for triglyceride, 92.1㎍/dl for Zn, 297.0±103.1㎎/dl for transferring, 1980.0±0.8㏖ for total lymphocyte count. 3. Daily energy intake was 1997.8±579.3㎉. And the ratio of carbohydrate, protein, and lipid to energy intake was 72:14:14. 4. The patents were divided into three groups according to SGA performed by an observer. Group A(well nourished)was 55.7% with 49patients, Group B(moderately malnourished)was 22.7% with 20patients, and Group C(severely malnourished)was 21.6% with 19patients, The three groups showed a significant difference in body weight(p<0.01), 1 month weight loss %(p<0.001), 6 months weight loss %(p<0.001), body mass index(p<0.01), and mid arm circumference(p<0.05), albumin(p<0.01), energy intake(p<0.05) as well as carbohydrate intake(p(0.05). From these results, it may be concluded that SGA can be used as a nutrition screening tool, and comprehensive nutrition assessment is desirable for those malnourished.

별서(別墅)란 ``본채와 나누어져 있는 별도의 장소에 거처할 곳``을 만든 것을 의미한다. 경상남도의 별서 건축물인 정자의 평면형태를 조사한 결과, 다른 지방과 달리 모든 형태(중심형, 편심형, 분리형, 무실형)들이 모두 고르게 나타나는 것이 특징이었다. 또한 별서의 가장 대표적인 입지유형은 "강변에 절벽이 있는 언덕 위"라고 할 수 있다. 경남지방의 별서는 수경(水景)과 더불어 바위경관(암경 巖景)이 중요한 특징을 나타내는 역할을 한다. 별서의 수경관 구조는 하천이나 계류와 연계된 "폭포+소+급류"의 구조가 가장 대표적이다. 별서의 바위경관은 인위적으로 석가산을 쌓거나 돌을 배치하기보다 자연에 있는 암반과 바위, 대(臺)를 이용하는 경우가 훨씬 많다. 경남지방의 별서는 주로 원경(遠景)과 다경(多景)을 경관처리기법으로 사용하였으며, 별서의 평균조망거리는 5.6km이다. ``Byeolseo(別墅)`` means a kind of building that is built where is separated from main house. From the results of our field investigation, we could see that every type of the Jungja(亭子) a kind of Byeolseo-building in Gyoungnam Province. And the types of building plan found are center-focused room, eccentric room, seperated room, and the one without room. And also, we could find that the most representative location type of Byeolseo is on the hill where the cliff is on the riverside. That is, both waterscape and rockscape play an important role in the composition of landscape treatment of Byeolseo in Gyoungnam Province. In waterscape, "waterfall+swamp+fast-flowing stream"structure which is connected with river or mountain stream is found prominently, and in the case of rockscape, bedrocks, boulders, and Dae(臺) that are present in nature are used prevalently rather than an artificial hill or disposing rocks on purpose. Treating and disposing landscape of Byeolseo in Gyoungnam Province, the perspective view(average perspective distance is 5.6km) and several axes of view are used.

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>Improved eating quality is a major breeding target in <I>japonica</I> rice due to market demand. Consequently, quantitative trait loci (QTL) for glossiness of cooked rice and amylose content associated with eating quality have received much research focus because of their importance in rice quality.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>In this study, QTL associated with 12 grain quality traits were identified using 96 introgression lines (IL) of rice developed from an interspecific cross between the Korean elite <I>O. sativa japonica</I> cultivar ‘Hwaseong’ and <I>O. rufipogon</I> over 7 years. QTL analyses indicated that QTL <I>qDTH6</I> for heading date, detected on chromosome 6 is associated with variance in grain traits. Most QTLs detected in this study clustered near the <I>qDTH6</I> locus on chromosome 6, suggesting the effect of <I>qDTH6. O. rufipogon</I> alleles negatively affected grain quality traits except for a few QTLs, including <I>qGCR9</I> for glossiness of cooked rice on chromosome 9. To characterize the effect of the <I>O. rufipogon</I> locus harboring <I>qGCR9,</I> four lines with a single but different <I>O. rufipogon</I> segment near <I>qGCR9</I> were compared to Hwaseong. Three lines (<I>O. rufipopgon</I> ILs) having <I>O. rufipogon</I> segment between RM242 and RM245 in common showed higher glossiness of cooked rice than Hwaseong and the other line (Hwaseong IL), indicating that <I>qGCR9</I> is located in the 3.4-Mb region between RM242 and RM245. Higher glossiness of cooked rice conferred by the <I>O. rufipogon</I> allele might be associated with protein content considering that three lines had lower protein content than Hwaseong (<I>P</I> < 0.1). These three <I>O. rufipogon</I> ILs showed higher yield than Hwaseong and Hwaseong IL due to increase in spikelets per panicle and grain weight indicating the linkage of <I>qGCR9</I> and yield component QTLs.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>The <I>qGCR9</I> locus is of particular interest because of its independence from other undesirable grain quality traits in <I>O. rufipogon</I>. SSR markers linked to <I>qGCR9</I> can be used to develop high-quality <I>japonica</I> lines and offer a starting point for map-based cloning of genes underlying this trait. To our knowledge, this is the first report to map a beneficial QTL for glossiness of cooked rice from a wild rice, <I>O. rufipogon</I>.</P><P><B>Electronic supplementary material</B></P><P>The online version of this article (doi:10.1186/s12284-016-0135-0) contains supplementary material, which is available to authorized users.</P>
