In children, prolonged primary Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection or reactivation may lead to the development of T or natural killer cell lymphoproliferative disorders, clas-sified as chronic active EBV infection (CAEBV). CAEBV is a prolonged systemic illness lasting beyond three months, with elevated EBV DNA levels in the serum or affected tissue and a lack of underlying immunodeficiency. Notably, EBV is the most common virus that induces secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), and Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been reported to trigger HLH. We present the case of a 20-year-old Korean male who was diagnosed with CAEBV and devel-oped HLH after being infected with COVID-19. The patient met 7 out of 8 criteria for HLH. Following treatment with corticosteroids and intravenous immunoglobulin, the patient recovered from HLH without additional chemotherapy. HLH treatment should be tailored to each patient based on clinical presentation and disease severity. Prolonged and regular evaluation for developing HLH or lymphoma is necessary for patients with CAEBV.
Incremental Online Learning of Robot Behaviors From Selected Multiple Kinesthetic Teaching Trials
Sumin Cho,Sungho Jo IEEE 2013 IEEE transactions on systems, man, and cybernetics Vol.43 No.3

This paper presents a new approach to the incremental online learning of behaviors by a robot from multiple kinesthetic teaching trials. The approach enables a robot to refine and reproduce a specific behavior every time a new teaching trial is provided and to decide autonomously whether to accept or reject each trial. The robot neglects bad teaching trials and learns a behavior based on adequate teaching trials. The framework of this approach consists of the projection of motion data to a latent space and the description of motion data in a Gaussian mixture model (GMM). To realize the incremental online learning, the latent space and the GMM are refined incrementally after each proper teaching trial. The trial data are discarded after being used. The number of Gaussian components in the GMM is not initially fixed but is autonomously selected by the robot over the trials. The proposed method is more suitable for practical human-robot interaction. The experiments with a humanoid robot show the feasibility of the approach. We demonstrate that the robot can incrementally refine and reproduce learned behaviors that accurately represent the essential characteristics of the teaching trials through our learning algorithm and that it can reject erroneous teaching trials to improve learning performance.

Prevalence Risk of Metabolic Syndrome Associated with Alcohol Use Behavior in Korean Women
SuMin Kwak,MiRan Choi,SolHee Bang,InYoung Choi,MiJung Rho,Hyun Jo,DaiJin Kim 대한신경정신의학회 2018 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.15 No.2
Objective-Considerable research has been conducted on the relationship between alcohol consumption and metabolic syndrome. Although various standards for the amount and frequency of alcohol consumption have been suggested, a tool to measure individual alcohol use behavior against a consistent standard is required. Moreover, the association of alcohol use behavior with health should be examined on the basis of such a standard. In this study, we examined the relationships between alcohol use behavior according to the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and metabolic syndrome and its components in Korean women. Methods-This study utilized data from the fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which was administered from 2010 through 2012. We investigated the relationships between alcohol use behavior and metabolic syndrome and its components in a sample of 2,906 women by using analysis of covariance and logistic regression analysis. Results-After adjusting for confounding variables, alcohol use behavior was significantly associated with metabolic syndrome [odds ratio (OR) 2.877; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.523–5.435 in the problem use group]. AUDIT score also was significantly related to abdominal obesity (OR 2.263; 95% CI 1.704–4.459 in the problem use group), hypertension (OR 3.377; 95% CI 1.871–6.095 in the problem use group), hypertriglyceridemia (OR 3.204; 95% CI 1.800–5.702 in the problem use group), and impaired fasting glucose (OR 3.034; 95% CI 1.721–5.348 in the problem use group). Conclusion-In this study, positive associations were observed between AUDIT score and risk of metabolic syndrome and its components.
Kinesthetic Learning of Behaviors in a Humanoid Robot
Sumin Cho,Sungho Jo 제어로봇시스템학회 2011 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2011 No.10
This work presents an approach for learning of behaviors by kinesthetic teaching in a humanoid robot. The approach enables the robot to improve and reproduce a specific behavior incrementally every time a new teaching trial is provided, and therefore, it is more suitable for real-world human-robot interaction. The algorithm consists of projection of motion data to a latent space and description of motion data in a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM). The latent space and GMM can be refined incrementally after each kinesthetic teaching. The number of components in the GMM is adjusted accordingly in a real-time manner. Experiments with a Nao humanoid robot show the feasibility of the approach. We demonstrate that the robot can reproduce learned behaviors well through continuous kinesthetic trials.

Buildings are responsible for 30~40% of energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Energy performance of buildings is key to achieve the energy saving objectives, namely the reduction of a 20% of the greenhouse gases emissions. In Korea, building energy efficiency rating has been issued and is considered as an important way to achieve the agenda of the green growth. Experts such as energy assessors in EU are essential in order to improve the energy performance of buildings and the professional accreditation system is a cost-effective way of fighting against climate change and improving energy security, while also creating job opportunities, particularly in the building sector. In this paper, we conducted the online survey to investigate the need for professional accreditation system of building energy efficiency rating.
Several issues regarding the diagnostic imaging of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw
Kim, Jo-Eun,Yoo, Sumin,Choi, Soon-Chul Korean Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology 2020 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.50 No.4
This review presents an overview of some diagnostic imaging-related issues regarding medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws(MRONJ), including imaging signs that can predict MRONJ in patients taking antiresorptive drugs, the early imaging features of MRONJ, the relationship between the presence or absence of bone exposure and imaging features, and differences in imaging features by stage, between advanced MRONJ and conventional osteomyelitis, between oncologic and osteoporotic patients with MRONJ, and depending on the type of medication, method of administration, and duration of medication. The early diagnosis of MRONJ can be made by the presence of subtle imaging changes such as thickening of the lamina dura or cortical bone, not by the presence of bone exposure. Most of the imaging features are relatively non-specific, and each patient's clinical findings and history should be referenced. Oral and maxillofacial radiologists and dentists should closely monitor plain radiographs of patients taking antiresorptive/antiangiogenic drugs.

Owing to growing concerns regarding global warming, numerous green building-related policies have been implemented in various countries to reduce carbon dioxinde emissions. However, such standards typically only apply to new buildings, even if existing buildings are being renovated. In the pursuit of carbon reduction, this study focused on the application of a phase change material (PCM) to an aging educational building. The PCM was applied to the passive element and active element of the building. Among the other scenarios, Scenario 5 exhibited the smallest increase in heating load at 7134.2 ㎾h/year. Considering PV(Photovoltaic) power generation, Scenario 4 resulted in total energy savings of 22.545%. Thus, using PCMs, it is possible to reduce building energy consumption and contribute toward national energy savings.
