Environmental conferences in international society have held on Rio de Janeiro from UNCED in 1992 upward (United Nations Conference on Environment and Development) for countermeasure of environmental matters. Developed countries like United States, Japan, Canada and British are to take effect building promotion certification criteria what is certification system of environment for promotion in aspects of Green buildings. Purposes of this study are research in standards and status of certification systems which are LEED in USGBC since 1993 in United States, GBCC of KGBC in state-run organization since 2002 and 'Environmental-friendly Building Guidelines' of Seoul to be recently driven. And then, offer proposals of promotion aims for revitalization in GBCC.
Currently, the climate change and other environmental problems due to the global warming go beyond the simple dimension and change the paradigm of life and our economy. The problem is that the abnormal limate phenomena will most likely occur more frequently in the future. It will be the unexpected emergency. Highly integrated urban are will be devastated if energy supply is in the hamper. First data analysis should be to prepare and plan for emergencies. Therefore, we will research the current situation of emergency power system of buildings, and analyze the electricity consumption of buildings regarding emergency power system. Through this process, it will be selected that optimum capacity of emergency power system in Important building.
Recently, Environment-friendly building materials have been developed actively by building material companies. This research aims to present the basic data to develop environment-friendly building materials through the investigation and analysis on the emitted pollutants from building finishing materials. The emission factor of HCHO and VOC's was investigated on the environment-friendly 182 adhesives, 113 paints, 46 wooden flooring boards, and 33 wallpapers used in Korea. The results of the investigation indicate that Toluene, m,p-xylene, Ethylbenzene, o-Xylene, benzene, styrene which are specified as toxic VOC's showed high emission rate and Toluene is major pollutant emitted from most building finishing materials. The results of this research will be used as basic data when we develop environment-friendly building materials.

Many countries have carried out various policies about sustainable building to protect the earth against the global warming and environmental pollution. Korea government has also executed the Green Building Certification Criteria(GBCC). In order to keep the performances of certificated buildings sustainable, the effective building maintenance is quite necessary. Therefore, The purpose of this study is to find direction for the improvement of management categories of Korea Green Building Certification Criteria. For this aim, GBCC was compared with the foreign certification systems such as LEED, BREEAM and CASBEE.
Energy consumption in building sector in South Korea is about 20~30%. Thus, net zero energy building became a social issue to reduce national CO2 emission and meet the national trend of climate mitigation. This study evaluates the appropriate size of net zero energy apartment building. PV(Photovoltaic) system is considered as an applicable renewable energy source for apartment buildings. Total energy consumption including private and public use is considered as a baseline. Energy evaluating method for apartment by Korean building code is slightly modified to reflect energy consumption for public use. Annual electricity generation is evaluated by using RETScreen program. The efficiency of PV panel is 13.5%. The results show the PV system cannot afford meet the energy demand in baseline apartment building. PV system only can fully supply energy for a residential unit. The results indicate that the policy to generalize zero residential buildings of South Korea, may only works in detached house sector. In order to establish net zero energy apartment, advanced energy mix should be considered.
The insulation performance of the building is one of the most fundamental factors to reduce the energy use in building. The building's heating and cooling load account for the largest portion of the building energy consumption. And the insulation of building envelope is the main factor that directly affects the cooling and heating loads. For this reason, the thermal performance of the building insulation materials is very important for saving building energy. However, the building insulation materials have a problem in which the thermal performance has been deteriorated over time. Assuming that the lifetime of the building is about 50 years or more, the long-term performance of the insulation materials applied to the building is a very important factor affecting building energy consumption. In addition, the insulation material of building is generally located in the middle of the building envelope layers, which makes it very difficult to replace and retrofit when thermal insulation performance decreased. For these reasons, various standards have been proposed to test and evaluate the long-term performance of building insulation materials. In this study, the long-term performance of building insulation materials was tested and analyzed based on the standard of the accelerated aging test. The building insulation materials used in experiment were 5 types such as EPS, XPS, PF board, PIR-1 and PIR-2. The accelerated aging tests were conducted based on KS M ISO 11561 and BS EN 13166 standards. The results of the accelerated aging test for the materials were presented and the thermal conductivity of insulation materials were also compared.
Offshore plant industry has been growing as the increasing demand for fossil fuels such as oil, gas etc. on the sea caused by becoming exhausted on land. As the consciousness of on-site working men on the working environment has been improving and their wages has been increasing, resting places in the offshore plant upper part, Living Quarter etc., has been arranged in order to provide them with conveniences. But the concern for stability against explosion accident was raised, and the necessity for separate dwelling spaces became gradually important since the 1988 Piper Alpha disaster. Oil is used to generate electric power for the living service of offshore working men. But regulation of carbon emission restrict the using amount of fossil fuel. So the countermeasures for decreasing carbon emission is issued. This paper is focused on the development of renewable energy system applying to the Accommodation Barge.
