The significant enhancement of hole mobility in N2200 OTFTs is attributed to the strong dipoles in fluorinated high‐k gate dielectric blend of P(VDF‐TrFE):PMMA. </P>

To investigate the adverse effects of clozapine on cardiovascular ion channels, we examined the inhibitory effect of clozapine on voltage-dependent K<sup>+</sup> (Kv) channels in rabbit coronary arterial smooth muscle cells. Clozapine-induced inhibition of Kv channels occurred in a concentration-dependent manner with an half-inhibitory concentration value of 7.84 ± 4.86 µM and a Hill coefficient of 0.47 ± 0.06. Clozapine did not shift the steady-state activation or inactivation curves, suggesting that it inhibited Kv channels regardless of gating properties. Application of train pulses (1 and 2 Hz) progressively augmented the clozapine-induced inhibition of Kv channels in the presence of the drug. Furthermore, the recovery time constant from inactivation was increased in the presence of clozapine, suggesting that clozapine-induced inhibition of Kv channels is use (state)-dependent. Pretreatment of a Kv1.5 subtype inhibitor decreased the Kv current amplitudes, but additional application of clozapine did not further inhibit the Kv current. Pretreatment with Kv2.1 or Kv7 subtype inhibitors partially blocked the inhibitory effect of clozapine. Based on these results, we conclude that clozapine inhibits arterial Kv channels in a concentration-and use (state)-dependent manner. Kv1.5 is the major subtype involved in clozapine-induced inhibition of Kv channels, and Kv2.1 and Kv7 subtypes are partially involved.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to analyze specific foods influencing absolute nutrient intake and between-person variations of nutrient intake among Korean preschoolers. SUBJECTS/METHODS: This study included 2,766 participants aged 1-5 years in the 2009-2013 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys. Dietary data were obtained from a 24-h dietary recall method. Major food sources of absolute nutrient intake were evaluated based on percent contribution of each food. To assess the contribution of specific foods to between-person variations in nutrient intake, stepwise multiple regressions were performed and cumulative R2 was used. RESULTS: White rice and milk were main food sources of energy, protein, carbohydrate, phosphorus, iron, potassium, thiamin, riboflavin, and niacin. The percentage of fat contributed by milk was 21.3% which was the highest, followed by pork, soybean oil, and egg. White rice accounted for 25% and 40% of total variability in total energy and carbohydrate intakes, respectively. About 39% of variation in calcium intake was explained by milk while 40% of variation in phosphorous intake was explained by cheese. The top 10 foods contributing to between-person variations in nutrient intakes were similar with food items that mainly contributed to absolute nutrient intakes. The number of foods explaining 90% of absolute amounts of nutrient intakes varied from 28 for vitamin A to 80 for iron. CONCLUSIONS: This study identified specific foods that contributed to absolute nutrient intakes and between-person variations in nutrient intakes among Korean preschoolers. Our findings can be used to develop dietary assessment tools and establish food-based dietary guidelines for young children.

<P>Quorum sensing (QS) inhibitor-based therapy is an attractive strategy to inhibit bacterial biofilm formation without excessive induction of antibiotic resistance. Thus, we designed Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>-binding poly(lactide-<I>co</I>-glycolide) (PLGA) microparticles that can maintain a sufficient concentration of QS inhibitors around hydroxyapatite (HA) surfaces in order to prevent biofilm formation on HA-based dental or bone tissues or implants and, therefore, subsequent pathogenesis. Poly(butyl methacrylate-<I>co</I>-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphate) (PBMP) contains both Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>-binding phosphomonoester groups and PLGA-interacting butyl groups. The PBMP-coated PLGA (PLGA/PBMP) microparticles exhibited superior adhesion to HA surfaces without altering the sustained release properties of uncoated PLGA microparticles. PLGA/PBMP microparticle-encapsulating furanone C-30, a representative QS inhibitor, effectively inhibited the growth of <I>Streptococcus mutans</I> and its ability to form biofilms on HA surface for prolonged periods of up to 100 h, which was much longer than either furanone C-30 in its free form or when encapsulated in noncoated PLGA microparticles.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Comparison of Immune Responses between Smooth and Rough Variant of Mycobacterium Mucogenicum

Background Mycobacterium mucogenicum (Mmuc), a rapidly growing nontuberculous mycobacterium (NTM), is a rarely causative agent of clinical diseases such as post-traumatic wound infections and catheter-related sepsis in immunocompromised patients. Especially, Mmuc has been identified as a water contaminant in the hospital because it was more resistant to chlorine than other bacteria including M. fortuitum as well as E. coli. Like other NTM species mycobacteria such as M. abscessus, Mmuc has a characteristic to exhibit colony morphologies of rough (R) and variable smooth (S) types. It is known that R type is associated with more severe and persistent infection than S type. However, little is known about the immune responses of Mmuc. Methods To compare the immune responses between S and R type of Mmuc, S types including ATCC 49650 and two clinical strains, and one clinical strain with R type were obtained from the Korean Mycobacteria Resource Center (KMRC) of Korean Institute of Tuberculosis. Therefore, each type of Mmuc were infected to murine bone marrow-derived macrophage (BMDM), then intra-macrophage growth of Mmuc were measured by time dependently. Lastly, we conducted the ELISA of inflammatory cytokine secretion and then confirmed cell death pattern by FACS analysis. Results Macrophages infected with R strain had the higher numbers of intracellular bacteria after 3 days post-infection than S strains. Also, the R strain induced higher levels of cytokine production such as TNF-α, IL-6 and derived more necrotic cell death of BMDM. Conclusions In Conclusion, these Results suggest that R strain has more virulence and induces stronger immune response than S strains likewise other NTM species, MAC and M. abscessus. It is meaningful as the first finding about differential immune responses of Mmuc, also it might provide a fundamental research for further studies on Mmuc pathogenesis.

Development of a Place Image Analysis Algorithm through Image Crawling and Deep-Learning

The purpose of this research study is the service system development that collects images of a famous tourism region and trains the image data. To extract learning data from the collected images, CNN(Convolutional Neural Network) is used. Based on the training images and their location information, this system classifies input image and provides the name of the place where the given image is taken. When the system has plenty of learning data, it is expected to predict various places accurately.
Development of a food frequency questionnaire for dietary intake of preschool children

BACKGROUNDS/OBJECTIVES: To describe the data-based development of a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) for dietary evaluation of Korean preschool children. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Development of the FFQ was based on the data from 2,766 preschool children aged 1–5 years, who had completed 24-hour dietary recalls in the 2009–2013 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. We selected the food list based on the results of nutritional contribution and between-person variability for energy and 13 nutrients. We selected 88 foods with over 80% of total contribution to each nutrient and with over 80% of accumulated r2 for each nutrient. A dish containing any of the 88 foods in the recipe was listed, and a total of 903 dishes were extracted. Among the 903 dishes, we selected 438 dishes contributing more than 1% of total consumption. RESULTS: FFQ included 116 dish items combined from 438 dishes based on nutrient profile and recipe. Quantities of dietary intake were assessed by nine categories of frequency and portion size option. In addition, when comparing the food portions of children with the reference portion size, subjects would be asked to select one of three response categories (less, similar, and more) and then to record the amount as a percentage for the reference portion. Percentages of coverage for energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrate were 89.2%, 88.4%, 88.2%, and 89.4%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The dietary intake of Korean preschool children can be assessed by this new data-based FFQ. In addition, the new instrument can be used to identify nutritional needs of target groups for planning nutrition education and strategies to improve diet. Further studies are warranted to evaluate the performance of the instrument.
