Effect of Three-dimensional Warping on Stiffness Constants of Closed Section Composite Beams
Manoj Kumar Dhadwal,Sung Nam Jung 한국항공우주학회 2017 International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sc Vol.18 No.3
This paper focuses on the investigation of three-dimensional (3D) warping effect on the stiffness constants of composite beams with closed section profiles. A finite element (FE) cross-sectional analysis is developed based on the Reissner"s multifield variational principle. The 3D in-plane and out-of-plane warping displacements, and sectional stresses are approximated as linear functions of generalized sectional stress resultants at the global level and as FE shape functions at the local sectional level. The classical elastic couplings are taken into account which include transverse shear and Poisson deformation effects. A generalized Timoshenko level 6×6 stiffness matrix is computed for closed section composite beams with and without warping. The effect of neglecting the 3D warping on stiffness constants is shown to be significant indicating large errors as high as 93.3%.

Application aware route optimization in SDN using bandwidth and latency
Manoj Gautam,Kumar Pudashine 한국디지털융합학회 2018 IJICTDC Vol.3 No.2
Software Defined Network (SDN) is a new network architecture for designing, building, and managing networks that separates the networks control plane and forwarding plane to better support the scalability and innovation in a network infrastructure. The overall network performance of an application is mostly affected by the two major factors, bandwidth, and latency. Between each pair of network elements in network infrastructure, there may exist multiple paths connecting them with different properties. A traditional network does not take this knowledge into consideration and may result in sub-optimal performance of applications and underutilization of a network resource. This research proposes a concept of Application aware routing which could improve the overall performance of a network by categorizing the application in bandwidth oriented and latency oriented and allocate the separate route for each type of traffic based on the application preferences using Software defined network architecture and OpenFlow protocol. The research also proposes a design of an application aware network topology by using software defined network architecture which uses open flow protocol and open flow protocol based controller. Routes for the application packets are chosen based on the application type. To verify the feasibility and practical implementation of the proposed concept SDN topology is implemented in emulated environment using mininet.

Background/Aims: The aim of this study was to study the efficacy and safety of zolpidem for sleep disturbances in patients with cirrhosis. Methods: Fifty-two Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) class A or B cirrhotics with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index >5 were randomized to either zolpidem 5 mg daily (n=26) or placebo (n=26) for 4 weeks. Results: The therapy of 4 weeks was completed by 23 patients receiving zolpidem (3 stopped treatment due to excessive daytime drowsiness) and 24 receiving placebo (2 refused to continue the study). In the zolpidem group, after 4 weeks of therapy, there was significant increase in total sleep time (TST) and sleep efficiency compared to baseline and improvement in polysomnographic parameters of sleep initiation and maintenance (i.e., decrease in sleep latency time, decrease in wake time, and decreases in number of arousals and periodic limbs movements per hour of sleep), without any significant change in sleep architecture. Conclusions: Four weeks of 5 mg daily zolpidem in CTP class A or B cirrhosis patients with insomnia led to significant increases in TST and sleep efficiency and improvement in polysomnographic parameters of sleep initiation and maintenance without any significant change in sleep architecture.

A Photovoltaic (PV) system’s power output varies with the change of climate. Frequency deviations, tie line voltage swings are caused by the varying PV power when large PV power from several PV systems is fed in the utility. In this paper, to overcome these problems, a simple coordinated control method for smoothing the variations of combined PV power from multiple PV systems is proposed. Here, output power command is formed in two steps: central and local. Fuzzy control is used to produce the central smoothing output power command considering insolation, variance of insolation and absolute average of frequency deviation. In local step, a simple coordination is kept between the central power command and the local power commands by producing a common tuning factor. Power converters are used to achieve the same output power as local command power employing PI control law for each of the PV generation systems. The proposed method is compared with the method where conventional Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control is used for each of the PV systems. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective for smoothing the output power variations and feasible to reduce the frequency deviations of the power utility.
A Novel Three Phase Series-Parallel Resonant Converter Fed DC-Drive System
Manoj Daigavane,Hiralal Suryawanshi,Jawed Khan 전력전자학회 2007 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.7 No.3
This paper presents the application of a single phase AC-to-DC converter using a three-phase series parallel (SPRC) resonant converter to variable speed dc-drive. The improved power quality converter gives the input power factor unity over a wide speed range, reduces the total harmonic distortion (THD) of ac input supply current, and makes very low ripples in the armature current and voltage waveform. This soft-switching converter not only possesses the advantages of achieving high switching frequencies with practically zero switching losses but also provides full ranges of voltage conversion and load variation. The proposed drive system is the most appropriate solution to preserve the present separately excited dc motors in industry compared with the use of variable frequency ac drive technology. The simulation and experimental results are presented for variable load torque conditions. The variable frequency control scheme is implemented using a DSP- TMS320LF2402. This control reduces the switching losses and current ripples, eliminates the EMI and improves the efficiency of the drive system. Experimental results confirm the consistency of the proposed approach.

Purpose: Due to COVID 19 pandemic, the treatment of cancer patients has become a dilemma for every oncologist. Cancer patients are at an increased risk of immunosuppression and have a higher risk to acquire any infection. There are individual experiences from some centers regarding the management of cancer patients during such a crisis. So we have developed our institutional strategy to balance between COVID and cancer management. Materials and Methods: Radiation Oncology departmental meeting was held to prepare a consensus document on Radiotherapy schedules and department functioning during this pandemic. Results: Strategies were taken in form of following areas were steps need to be taken to decrease risk of infection, categorise treatment on the basis of priority, radiotherapy schedules modification, academic meetings and management of COVID positive patient/personnel in Radiation Oncology department. Conclusion: We hope to strike the balance in overcoming both the battles and emerge as winners. Stringent long term follow up will be done for assessing the response or any unforeseen treatment related sequelae.
