The electrochemical oxidation of dye wastewater with the cathode modified by quinones has beeninvestigated. Under the optimal conditions, the decolorization efficiency can reach 96.0% after 120 min. The addition of tert-butanol significantly decreased the decolorization efficiency, suggesting theinvolvement of -OH radicals in the decomposition of H2O2. A potential difference may result in a quinoneradical on the cathode which can catalyze the reduction of O2 to H2O2. UV–vis spectrum and GC/MSanalysis revealed that the dye molecule was firstly initiated by the cleavage of –N55N–, and decomposedto aromatic intermediates, further degraded to ring opening products and finally mineralized.
New Structure Design for 126kV HV Vacuum Circuit Breaker

This paper analyzes the advantages of double breaks under series connection for 126kV HV vacuum circuit breaker. It makes efforts in the break designing to avoid hidden danger brought by voltage-sharing capacitor. Voltage is evenly distributed in the shape of ▽ at the basic break that asks for no voltage-sharing capacitors. Permanent magnetic actuator is used to ensure the synchronization of opening and closing of double breaks. Based on this layout, this paper designs a new actuator and motion system for vacuum circuit breaker optimized by virtual prototype software ADAMS and genetic algorithm. Laboratory tests have proved that the opening and closing speed of the breaker meets the speed standard and that the 126kV HV vacuum circuit breaker is feasible.

The current document is based on a consensus reached by a panel of experts from the Chinese Society of Allergy and the Chinese Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Rhinology Group. Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) affects approximately 8% of Chinese adults. The inflammatory and remodeling mechanisms of CRS in the Chinese population differ from those observed in the populations of European descent. Recently, precision medicine has been used to treat inflammation by targeting key biomarkers that are involved in the process. However, there are no CRS guidelines or a consensus available from China that can be shared with the international academia. The guidelines presented in this paper cover the epidemiology, economic burden, genetics and epigenetics, mechanisms, phenotypes and endotypes, diagnosis and differential diagnosis, management, and the current status of CRS in China. These guidelines—with a focus on China—will improve the abilities of clinical and medical staff during the treatment of CRS. Additionally, they will help international agencies in improving the verification of CRS endotypes, mapping of eosinophilic shifts, the identification of suitable biomarkers for endotyping, and predicting responses to therapies. In conclusion, these guidelines will help select therapies, such as pharmacotherapy, surgical approaches and innovative biotherapeutics, which are tailored to each of the individual CRS endotypes.

RpoS (σS), the stationary phase/stress σ factor, controls the expression of a large number of genes involved in cellular responses to a variety of stresses. However, the role of RpoS appears to differ in different bacteria. While RpoS is an important regulator of flagellum biosynthesis, it is associated with biofilm development in Edwardsiella tarda. Biofilms are dense communities formed by bacteria and are important for microbe survival under unfavorable conditions. The type VI secretion system (T6SS) discovered recently is reportedly associated with several phenotypes, ranging from biofilm formation to stress sensing. For example, Vibrio anguillarum T6SS was proposed to serve as a sensor for extracytoplasmic signals and modulates RpoS expression and stress response. In this study, we investigated the physiological roles of RpoS in Yersinia pseudotuberculosis, including bacterial survival under stress conditions, flagella formation, biofilm development and T6SS expression. We found that RpoS is important in resistance to multiple stressors–including H2O2, acid, osmotic and heat shock–in Y. pseudotuberculosis. In addition, our study showed that RpoS not only modulates the expression of T6SS but also regulates flagellum formation by positively controlling the flagellar master regulatory gene flhDC, and affects the formation of biofilm on Caenorhabditis elegans by regulating the synthesis of exopolysaccharides. Taken together, these results show that RpoS plays a central role in cell fitness under several adverse conditions in Y. pseudotuberculosis.

The vehicle platoon is subject to dynamic uncertainty and external disturbance, such as air drag and parameter variation in practice, so lack of consideration for those factors can deteriorate control performance. This paper proposes a nonlinear control algorithm based on a novel adaptive backstepping method to cope with the uncertainty and disturbance. The virtual controller in the backstepping method utilizes only the local information of the individual vehicle, rather than the global state information, in the control algorithm design. A third-order vehicle dynamics model was built to incorporate the nonlinearity and the factor of actuation delay. The fuzzy logic system (FLS) is applied to estimate the nonlinearity in vehicle dynamics to facilitate the adaptive control. Five scenarios with different settings were constructed to verify the control performance in the simulation, which indicates the effectiveness and robustness of the controller to dynamic uncertainty and external disturbance.

Seven new dianthrone glycosides, named polygonumnolidesA1–B3 (1–7), were isolated from the 70 %EtOH extract of the dried roots of Polygonum multiflorumThunb. using column chromatography and preparativehigh-performance liquid chromatography. Their structureswere determined by 1D and 2D NMR and mass spectroscopy. The isolated compounds were evaluated for theircytotoxic effects against KB tumor cell lines and compounds1–4 showed moderate cytotoxicity.

In recent years, high refractive index polythiourethane materials have attracted increasing attention. In this study, the soft segment part of conventional polyurethane was replaced by ethylenedithiol, and a series of nanocomposite films containing Mercaptoethanol (ME) capped ZnS NPs were prepared by UV curing after the synthesis of the bifunctional linear prepolymer with hydroxyethyl acrylate as capping agent and trifunctional prepolymer with trimethylolpropane triacrylate as sulfhydrylate capping. ZnS NPs were well dispersed in the resin system, and the transmittance of the film decreased with the increase of ZnS content, but it did not float much and still has 80% transmittance at 40%. The addition of ZnS had a significant improvement on the refractive index. The RI of the system without the addition of particles was less than 1.5, the system with 40% was greater than 1.6. It was worth noting that the Abbe number was almost greater than 30, which was in the category of low dispersion.
Microstructure and Tensile Properties of a Cast Eutectic Al–Si–Cu Alloy Modified by Zr and V

Minor Zr and V were added individually and jointly to Al–12.5Si–1Cu alloy to develop heat-resistant aluminum alloys. Theas-cast microstructure, room temperature, and high temperature (350 °C) tensile properties and the strengthening mechanismof the modified alloys were investigated. The results show that the rod-like (Al, Si)3Zr and hexagonal (Si, Al)2V precipitatesare respectively found in the alloys with individually added Zr or V. At the same time, they were transformed into (Al,Si)3(Zr, V) and (Si, Al)2(V, Zr) when Zr and V were added together. Individually added Zr or V could change the eutecticsilicon aspect ratio, but the largest effect was recorded for the combined addition 0.3 wt% Zr + 0.4 wt% V. The addition ofZr and V had no significant impact on the room temperature tensile strength of the alloys but improved the yield strength. Individual additions of Zr and V caused negligible improvements in high-temperature tensile strength of alloys tested. Incontrast, the combined Zr + V additions resulted in the substantial improvement with tensile strength at 350 °C reaching79.4 MPa, i.e. 89% higher than the base alloy. The analysis shows that the increase of eutectic silicon aspect ratio and thesolution strengthening of trace V in eutectic silicon is the leading cause of improving high-temperature tensile strength. Thebrittle, blocky primary silicon, coarse rod-like (Al, Si)3(Zr, V), and hexagonal (Si, Al)2(V, Zr) precipitates are detrimentalto high-temperature properties.
