<삼한습유(三韓拾遺)>에 나타난 예(禮)에 관한 논쟁과 그 의미

In this paper, I am going to inquire into the dispute over Ye(禮; courtesy) and its meaning in Samhanseubyu(三韓拾遺) written by Kim So-haeng(金紹行). The meaning of 'Ye' is not as usual in this novel. From the beginning to the end, the author asks a question of the reader. "What is properly right to Ye?" If it were not for this question, we could have said "There is not any conflict in this novel." So I am going to inquire into the author's ultimate purpose - why does he give a place of the dispute over Ye to the reader? As like many people who wrote a biography(傳) or a poem in classical Chinese(漢詩) with a subject matter of Hyangrang(香娘), Kim So-haeng also pays a tribute to her. But he recompenses her for her nobility of spirit in the extraordinary measure and it brings about the conflictive situation. In the middle of this situation, there is a problem of Ye and Birye(非禮; discourtesy). Hyangrang was trying to do all of the filial duty and courtesy. But the entire situation she faced forced her to commit suicide. Hyangrang, however, was reincarnated and got married with new husband who treated her with courtesy in Samhanseubyu (Kim So-haeng must have thought that her conduct deserved this setting-up). So he needed to prove that reincarnation and remarriage were properly right for her, and he created the speaking of Province(天帝), wizard(神仙) and sage, the war between Heaven's army and devil's army and the war among Silla(新羅), Baekje(百濟) and Koguryeo(高句麗) in Samhanseubyu. Reincarnation and remarriage, someone said, were against Confucian doctrine and courtesy, Kim So-haeng insisted on his opinion that according to the situation, the meaning of courtesy change and the true courtesy is based on human nature. When someone tries to reduce courtesy to practice, his/her effort, in most cases, is frustrated. Kim So-haeng put a veto on these actualities and wanted to be free from the ideal of medieval times and be the subjective in his life. So to speak, the dispute over Ye in Samhanseubyu is prepared to express his wish.

The Anti-inflammatory Effects of Agmatine on Transient Focal Cerebral Ischemia in Diabetic Rats

BACKGROUND:: In the previous study, we observed agmatine (AGM) posttreatment immediately after 30 minutes of suture occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCAO) reduced the infarct size and neurological deficit in diabetic rats. The aim of the present study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of AGM to reduce cerebral ischemic damage in diabetic rats. MATERIALS AND METHODS:: Normoglycemic (n=20) and streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats (n=40) were subjected to 30 minutes of MCAO followed by reperfusion. Twenty diabetic rats were treated with AGM (100 mg/kg, intraperitoneal) immediately after 30 minutes of MCAO. Modified neurological examinations and rotarod exercises were performed to evaluate motor function. Western blot and immunohistochemical analysis were performed to determine the expression of inflammatory cytokines in ischemic brain tissue. Real-time polymerase chain reaction was performed to measure the mRNA expression of high-mobility group box 1, receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE), Toll-like receptor (TLR)2, and TLR4 RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS:: AGM posttreatment improved the neurobehavioral activity and motor function of diabetic MCAO rats at 24 and 72 hours after reperfusion. Immunohistochemical analysis showed that AGM treatment significantly decreased the expression of inflammatory cytokines in diabetic MCAO rats at 24 and 72 hours after reperfusion (P<0.01). Western blotting and real-time polymerase chain reaction results indicated that AGM treatment significantly decreased the expression of high-mobility group box 1, RAGE, TLR2, and TLR4 in diabetic rats at 24 hours after reperfusion (P<0.05). This neuroprotective effect of AGM after MCAO was associated with modulation of the postischemic neuronal inflammation cascade.

Gamipaidok-san(GPDS) is the Hyungbangpaidok-san prescription fortified with the additional ingredients known to be effective for dermatitis. So it has been used for atopic dermatitis in the clinic work actually. In this study, we investigated the effects of GPDS on in vitro and in vivo anti-allergic effect on RBL-2H3 rat basophilic leukemia Cells and on IgE-induced passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) in mice. The in vitro anti-inflammatory activity of GPDS in RAW 264.7 cells was investigated. GPDS potently inhibited $\beta$-hexosaminidase release from RBL-2H3 and the IgE-mediated PCA reaction in mice. GPDS inhibited LPS-induced NO and PGE2 production in a dose-dependent manner Furthermore, It also inhibited inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) protein expression in RAW 264.7 cells, and the activation of the transcription factor, NF-kB, in nuclear fraction. The antiallergic action of GPDS may originate from anti-inflammatory activities, and can improve the inflammation caused by allergies.

고전서사문학에서 해양문학론의 현황과 전망

이 논문은 고전서사문학에서 해양문학론의 현황과 문제점을 살피고 앞으로 나아갈 방향을 모색해본 것이다. 그간 고전문학에서 전개된 해양문학론 연구는 개념과 범주에 대한 고민을 되풀이하였을 뿐 연구사적 진전을 거두지 못하였다. 이런 상황에서 원론적 담론은 실효성을 거두기 어렵다. 오히려 해양문학의 범주 안에서 다루어진 개개의 작품을 어떤 맥락에서 다루는 것이 해당 작품의 실상을 온전히 드러낼 수 있을지에 집중해야 한다. 이에 본고에서는 ‘본격 해양문학’ 혹은 ‘해양문학에 근접한 문학’으로 다뤄져온 표해류 작품을 중심으로 이 방면 연구의 문제점을 검토하고 대안적 전망을 제시해 보았다. 표해류 서사문학 중 활발히 연구가 이루어진 작품은 최부(崔溥)의 〈표해록(漂海錄)〉과 장한철(張漢喆)의 〈표해록(漂海錄)〉에 불과하다. 나머지 작품들은 이름 정도가 알려졌을 뿐이다. 그런데 두 작품의 실상을 온전히 드러내는 것은 표류, 표착과 같은 체험이 아니다. 오히려 바다 건너 타자(他者)의 존재를 확인하고, 타자 인식에 기반한 상호 교류의 면모가 작품의 본질적 특성에 해당한다. 표해류 서사문학 작품을 동아시아 문화 교류의 측면에서 접근하면 포로실기(捕虜實記), 사행류(使行類) 작품들과의 연계를 통해 중세사회에서 바다가 지니는 의미와 기능을 재조명할 수 있으며, 더 나아가 해양문학의 정체성을 재발견할 수 있을 것이다. This paper aims to examine the state and problems in the study of sea literature on Korean classical narratives and claim the research directions. Previous researches tried to identify the definition and category of sea literature but they had not satisfactorily results. In a situation like this, the theoretical debates call into question the effectiveness of the study of sea literature. The paper proposes to focus on the study of individual works instead of its definition and category. In addition, this paper suggests alternative view of the research on sea literature by examining the state and problems in the study of sea literature, especially focused on Pyohaerok. Choibu’s Pyohaerok and Janghanchel’s Pyohaerok were only actively studied among sea literature. Others were not known even title of works. However, main features of these works are aspects of cultural exchange based on awareness of the other resulted from confirmation of them beyond of sea, not experiences to drift along or reach ashore. In conclusion, if Pyohaeryu works are discussed aspects of cultural exchange, the meaning and function of sea in the Middle Ages would be able to reconsider through linking captive practical literature to literature journey and rediscover identity of sea literature.

『천일록(千一錄)』의 인물전(人物傳)을 통해 본 우하영(禹夏永)의 교화론(敎化論)

본고는 취석실(醉石室) 우하영(禹夏永)의 문집 『천일록(千一錄)』에 수록된 인물전(人物傳)을 대상으로 우하영이 당대 사회를 어떻게 인식하였으며, 어떤 방법으로 사회를 바람직한 방향으로 이끌고자 했는지를 살펴본 것이다. 그간 우하영은 `농업사상가`, `실학자`로서 주목 받았으나, 『천일록』에는 농업사상 외에도 사회의 폐단을 개혁할 각종 구폐책(救弊策)들이 수록되어 있으며, 특히 「잡록(雜錄)」에는 그가 교화의 핵심 주체로 상정하고 있는 인물들의 구체적인 면모를 형상화한 인물전이 다수 수록되어 있다. 우하영은 백성들의 윤리를 바로잡고 세교(世敎)에 보탬이 되고자 하는 뜻을 담아 「잡록」을 편찬하였는데, 「잡록 상」에서는 73인의 인물 행적을 (1) 효행(孝行), (2) 충의(忠義), (3) 정렬(貞烈), (4) 강직(剛直), (5) 인후(仁厚), (6) 수재(守宰) 등의 여섯 항목으로 분류하여 입전하였다. 이 중 우하영의 교화에 대한 생각이 가장 잘 드러나 있는 항목은 (6)수재이다. 당시의 도덕적 타락을 교화하기 위해서는 법과 형률을 시행하는 수령(守令)의 역할이 무엇보다 중요함을 인식하고, 26인의 인물행적을 통해 명철함과 지혜, 청렴과 성실, 예의와 자량(慈諒) 등을 두루 갖춘 수령이라야 공정하게 송사(訟事)를 처리하고 백성을 제대로 교화할 수 있음을 보여 주었다. 우하영은 수령이 공정하고 상벌 또한 공정하게 실현된다면 사회의 폐단을 제거할 수 있을 것이고, 백성과 풍속이 교화된다면 효행, 충의, 정렬, 강직, 인후 등의 도덕으로 백성들을 가르칠 수 있다고 보았다. 도덕적 품성을 두루 갖춘 백성들이 서로를 권면하는 그러한 사회가 우하영이 지향한 사회이며, 이를 위해 저자는 고금 인물들의 행적을 두루 모아 인물전을 편찬한 것이다. 또한 우하영은 「잡록 하」에서 임진란 때 전사한 함흥 출신의 장수(將帥) 유응수(柳應秀)의 행적을 통해 출신 지역으로 인하여 그 정충(精忠)과 대절(大節)이 후세에 전해지지 않음을 안타까워하였으며, 억울한 누명을 쓰고 죽은 유연(劉淵)의 옥사(獄事)를 통해서는 형벌을 관장하는 이들이 사안(事案)을 신중하게 살펴 송사(訟事)를 공정하게 처리해야 함을 경계하였다. 공정한 상벌(賞罰)과 공정성을 실현할 수 있는 수령의 존재는 우하영이 지향하는 사회, 즉 도덕적 교화가 가능한 사회로 나아가기 위한 전제 조건이라 할 수 있다. 본고는 우하영의 인물전에 대한 본격적인 연구로서 의미를 지닌다. 그간 소홀히 다뤄져온 『천일록』 소재 인물전에 대한 구체적인 내용과 특징을 분석함으로써 우하영이 어떤 방법으로 백성을 교화하고자 하였는지를 고찰하였다. 본 연구를 통해 우하영의 인물전에 대한 학계의 관심과 연구가 이어지기를 기대한다. This study researched how the writer understood a reality how he intended to lead the society in the right direction, targeting biographical writings in Cheonilrok(千一錄), Chiseoksil(醉石室) Wuhayeong(禹夏永)`s collection of works. Meanwhile, Wuhayeong received attention as an agricultural thinker or a Silhak(實學) scholar. But in Cheonilrok there are not agricultural thinking but reformation plans for social problems, and especially in `Japrok` (雜錄) there are many biographical writings that concretely described the agent of enlightenment. Wuhayeong compiled `Japrok` to adjust ethics and help to teach people, and in `Japrok, sang(雜錄, 上)` classified 73 persons` whereabouts as (1) filial behavior (2) loyalty (3) a lady of virtue (4) rigidity (5) generosity (6) jefe. Among these, the article that Wuhayeong`s thinking about reformation was well represented was (6) jefe. The writer realized the roles of jefe in order to reform a moral gangrene. Through 26 persons` whereabouts, he showed that only jefes who had wisdom, brilliance, integrity, faithfulness, manner and mercy, could equally take legal proceedings and enlighten the people well. Wuhayeong thought that if jefe were even-handed and equally took legal proceedings, social evil would be able to eliminated and if the people and custom were reformed, the people would be taught with the morals as filial behavior, loyalty, a lady of virtue, rigidity, generosity and so on. The society that the people with good moral character encouraged one another was the society that Wuhayeong aimed at, and for this the writer compiled biographical writings collecting the ancient and modern ages people`s whereabouts widely. Also in `Japrok, ha(雜錄, 下)` through whereabouts of Yueungsu (柳應秀), the commender who was born in Hamheung(咸興) and died in Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592, Wuhayeong felt sorry that Yueungsu`s royalty and chastity were not known for because of his hometown. And also through Yuyeon(劉淵) who died under a false accusation, he emphasized that the jefes who judged people must survey carefully and treat equally. The existence of the jefe who could realize a fair reward and punishment is the premise for the society that Wuhayeong aimed and the moral reformation was possible. This study is meaningful as the intelligent study for Wuhayeong`s biographical writings. As I analyzed the concrete contents and properties of biographical writings in Cheonilrok that was not interested meanwhile, I researched how Wuhayeong intended to reform the people. Through this study, I expect the interest and the study of the academic world for Wuhayeong`s biographical writings.
