Medium access control is critical in wireless networks for efficient spectrum utilization. In this paper, we introduce a novel collision resolution method based on the technique of known interference cancellation, and propose a new MAC protocol named as CR-MAC, in which AP tries to decode all the collided data packets by combining partial retransmissions and known interference cancellation. As the collided transmissions are fully utilized, less retransmission is required, especially in a crowded network. The NS-2simulation and MATLAB numerical results show that, under various network settings, CR-MAC performs much better than the IEEE 802.11 DCF in terms of the aggregation throughput and the expected packet delay.
Energy-efficient Routing in MIMO-based Mobile Ad hoc Networks with Multiplexing and Diversity Gains

It is critical to design energy-efficient routing protocols for battery-limited mobile ad hoc networks, especially in which the energy-consuming MIMO techniques are employed. However, there are several challenges in such a design: first, it is difficult to characterize the energy consumption of a MIMO-based link; second, without a careful design, the broadcasted RREP packets, which are used in most energy-efficient routing protocols, could flood over the networks, and the destination node cannot decide when to reply the communication request; third, due to node mobility and persistent channel degradation, the selected route paths would break down frequently and hence the protocol overhead is increased further. To address these issues, in this paper, a novel Greedy Energy-Efficient Routing (GEER) protocol is proposed: (a) a generalized energy consumption model for the MIMO-based link, considering the trade-off between multiplexing and diversity gains, is derived to minimize link energy consumption and obtain the optimal transmit model; (b) a simple greedy route discovery algorithm and a novel adaptive reply strategy are adopted to speed up path setup with a reduced establishment overhead; (c) a lightweight route maintenance mechanism is introduced to adaptively rebuild the broken links. Extensive simulation results show that, in comparison with the conventional solutions, the proposed GEER protocol can significantly reduce the energy consumption by up to 68.74%.
Chemical Composition, Antioxidant and Cytoprotective Activities of Lotus Receptacle

The nutritional composition (ash, protein, fat, crude fiber, and carbohydrate) and antioxidant activity of lotus receptacles (LRs) were studied. The LRs contained 88.25% carbohydrates, 22.90% crude fiber, 5.79% crude ash, 0.77% crude protein content, and 5.19% crude lipid on a dry weight basis. The ethanolic extract of lotus receptacle (ELR) exerted strong scavenging effects on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical, hydroxyl radical (•OH), superoxide anion (O2-), and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), as well as high reducing power. ELR pretreatment effectively elevated cell viability and decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in H2O2-treated RAW 264.7 cells. Additionally, ELR had high phenolic and flavonoid contents with values of 318.15 mg gallic acid equivalent/g and 239.06 mg rutin equivalent/g, respectively. Moreover, the bioactivity-guided study of ELR resulted in the isolation and identification of quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (QOG), a dietary flavonoid. QOG exhibited strong DPPH free radical scavenging activity, with an IC50 value of 24.26 μM; docking studies revealed that QOC formed one hydrogen bond with LYS263 in the active site, suggesting it is, in part, responsible for the free activity of LR.

Purpose: We analyzed the microstructure and bone mineral density (BMD) of the trabecular bone in the femoral head of patients with osteoporosis. Materials and Methods: Sixteen femoral heads with osteoporotic femoral neck fractures underwent microcomputed tomography scanning. In each tip-apex distance (TAD) of 15, 20, and 25 mm, five regions of interest (ROIs) were extracted from the central, anterior, posterior, superior, and inferior sections. A total of 15 ROIs were extracted from TADs of 15, 20, and 25 mm. The measurement parameters included BMD, percent bone volume: bone volume/total volume (BV/TV), trabecular thickness (Tb.Th), trabecular number (Tb.N), structural model index (SMI), and degree of anisotropy (DOA). Results: The lowest BMD and BV/TV values were observed in the inferior region and differed significantly from those in other regions (P<0.05). Lower Tb.Th and Tb.N values were observed in the inferior region compared with those in the central region (P<0.05). The highest SMI value was observed in the inferior region (P<0.05). With TAD of 15 and 20 mm, the DOA values in the inferior region were lower than those in the anterior region (P<0.05). Lower BMD and BV/TV values were observed in the anterior, central, and inferior regions of TAD of 15 mm compared with those in the corresponding regions of TAD of 25 mm (P<0.05). Conclusion: Positioning the lag screw between TAD of 20 to 25 mm and in the inferior region is recommended, and TAD of less than 15 mm is not recommended.
The potential of Panax notoginseng against COVID-19 infection

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world and has presented the scientific community with unprecedentedchallenges. Infection is associated with overproduction of proinflammatory cytokines secondaryto hyperactivation of the innate immune response, inducing a cytokine storm and triggeringmultiorgan failure and significant morbidity/mortality. No specific treatment is yet available. For thousandsof years, Panax notoginseng has been used to treat various infectious diseases. Experimental evidenceof P. notoginseng utility in terms of alleviating the cytokine storm, especially the cascade, andimproving post-COVID-19 symptoms, suggests that P. notoginseng may serve as a valuable adjuncttreatment for COVID-19 infection.
A review of the immunomodulatory activities of polysaccharides isolated from Panax species

Panax polysaccharides are biopolymers that are isolated and purified from the roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits of Panax L. plants, which have attracted considerable attention because of their immunomodulatory activities. In this paper, the composition and structural characteristics of purified polysaccharides are reviewed. Moreover, the immunomodulatory activities of polysaccharides are described both in vivo and in vitro. In vitro, Panax polysaccharides exert immunomodulatory functions mainly by activating macrophages, dendritic cells, and the complement system. In vivo, Panax polysaccharides can increase the immune organ indices and stimulate lymphocytes. In addition, this paper also discusses the membrane receptors and various signalling pathways of immune cells. Panax polysaccharides have many beneficial therapeutic effects, including enhancing or activating the immune response, and may be helpful in treating cancer, sepsis, osteoporosis, and other conditions. Panax polysaccharides have the potential for use in the development of novel therapeutic agents or adjuvants with beneficial immunomodulatory properties.

The self-driven articulated arm coordinate measuring machine (self-driven AACMM) is a new type of flexible coordinate measuring equipment. The integrated joint module is introduced to the AACMM joint for self-driven control and automatic measurement, resulting in the joint angle error of self-driven AACMM. In this study, an ideal measurement model of the self-driven AACMM have been established. The sources of angle error of joint module is analysed, and single and comprehensive models of the joint module‘s angle error are established. Numerical simulation of the angle error model of the single joint module is conducted by MATLAB. An angle error calibration experiment of the joint module is carried out with the photoelectric autocollimator and the metal 36-sided prism. Results show that each joint module produces different torsional deformation due to load. The angle error of joint module 1, 6 are most and least affected by the load torque, the actual average errors of the two are 37.64 arcsec and -0.9632 arcsec, respectively. The simulated and calibrated single-joint module angle error trends are cyclical, and the calibrated angle error range is [-100.4 arcsec, 205.2 arcsec]. The harmonic error component in the harmonic reducer and the magnetic encoder is an important factor of the angle error of joint module. The eatablished angle error model of single joint module can be effiectively applied to comprehensive error compensation for high measurement accuracy of self-driven AACMM.
잡음환경에서 한국어 연속 음성인식을 위한 유사음소단위에 관한 연구

??본 논문은 잡음환경에서 효율적인 문맥의존 음향모델 구성애 대한 기초 연구로서 잡음환경에서의 유사음소단위 수애 따른 연속 음성인식 성능을 비교, 평가한 결과에 대한 보고이다. 기존의 연구[1, 2]로부터 연속음성인 식의 경우 문맥종속모델은 변이음을 고려한 39유사음소를 이용한 경우가 48유사음소를 이용하는 것보다 더 좋은 인식성능을 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 잡음환경에서도 효율적인 문맥의존 음향모델을 구성하기 위한 기초 연구를 수행하였다. 다양한 잡음 환경을 고려하기 위해 While, Pink, LAB 잡음을 신호 대 잡음비(Signal to Noise Ratio) 5㏈, 10㏈, 15㏈ 레벨로 음성에 부가한 후 각 유사음소단위 수에 따른 연속음성인식 실험을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 39유사음소를 이용한 경우가 48유사음소를 이용한 경우보다 clear환경인 경우에 약 7%와 17% 향상된 단어인식률과 문장인식률을 얻을 수 있었으며, 각 잡음환경에서도 39유사음소를 이용한 경우가 48유사음소를 이용한 경우보다 평균적으로 17%와 28% 향상된 단어인식률과 문장인식률을 얻을 수 있어 39유사음소 단위가 한국어 연속음성인식에 더 적합하고 잡음환경에서도 유효함 을 확인할 수 있었다.
