        Neurotensin Changes Propulsive Activity into a Segmental Motor Pattern in the Rat Colon

        Background/Aims Neurotensin is a gut-brain peptide with both inhibitory and excitatory actions on the colonic musculature; our objective was to understand the implications of this for motor patterns occurring in the intact colon of the rat. Methods The effects of neurotensin with concentrations ranging from 0.1-100 nM were studied in the intact rat colon in vitro, by investigating spatio-temporal maps created from video recordings of colonic motility before and after neurotensin. Results Low concentration of neurotensin (0.1-1 nM) inhibited propagating long distance contractions and rhythmic propagating motor complexes; in its place a slow propagating rhythmic segmental motor pattern developed. The neurotensin receptor 1 antagonist SR- 48692 prevented the development of the segmental motor pattern. Higher concentrations of neurotensin (10 nM and 100 nM) were capable of restoring long distance contraction activity and inhibiting the segmental activity. The slow propagating segmental contraction showed a rhythmic contraction-- relaxation cycle at the slow wave frequency originating from the interstitial cells of Cajal associated with the myenteric plexus pacemaker. High concentrations given without prior additions of low concentrations did not evoke the segmental motor pattern. These actions occurred when neurotensin was given in the bath solution or intraluminally. The segmental motor pattern evoked by neurotensin was inhibited by the neural conduction blocker lidocaine. Conclusions Neurotensin (0.1-1 nM) inhibits the dominant propulsive motor patterns of the colon and a distinct motor pattern of rhythmic slow propagating segmental contractions develops.         Dynamic modeling and analysis for transmission system of high-power wind turbine gearbox

        As a key component to adjust the speed and torque, double-fed speed up gearbox plays a vital role in reliability and stability for thewind turbine system. Considering the base helix angle, normal pressure angle, position angle, rotation of carrier and the mesh of the ringgear and planet gear, a coupled dynamic model for high-power wind turbine gearbox transmission system, which consists of two helicalplanetary stages and one helical gear stage was established using the lumped parameter method in this paper. Numerical integration applyingthe explicit 4/5th order Runge-Kutta algorithm was used to solve the proposed model and the dynamic responses of transmissionsystem were investigated. Results show that the modal frequencies for the system are not coincided with the gear mesh frequencies of thestages. Then, the dynamic mesh forces of the 1st stage in different models are compared and analyzed in frequency domain.

        Toughness and Strength Coordination in a Low-Alloy Zn–0.5 Mg Alloy via Extrusion and Post-Deformation Annealing

        Zn is considered one of the most attractive bioresorbable candidates for metal implants, because it does not exhibit the inherent limitations of Fe and Mg. To explore the coordination of the toughness and strength of Zn alloys via grain size, secondary phase, and texture modification, we designed a micro-alloyed binary Zn–0.5 Mg (wt%) alloy. The sample was processed through hot extrusion at 220 °C with an extrusion ratio of 25:1 and subjected to rapid heat treatment at varying temperatures. Interestingly, the ductility of the low-temperature annealed alloys increased without exhibiting strength loss, in contrast to the known behavior of most other metallic alloys. The mechanical properties were optimized in the sample by thermal deformation and 30 min annealing at 150 °C, exhibiting the following results: yield strength of 240.3 ± 4.3 MPa, ultimate tensile strength of 293.6 ± 3.8 MPa, and elongation to failure of 36.3 ± 4.5%. During the low-temperature annealing of extruded Zn–0.5 Mg rods, the fine Mg2Zn11 phase particles pinning effect and the recrystallization behavior inhibited grain coarsening. The prismatic <a> and pyramidal <c + a> slip systems were activated by a non-basal texture, which contributed to the enhanced toughness. The balance between strength and ductility was mainly attributed to a synergistic effect of grain refinement, unique texture modification, and secondary phases.

        Review in isothermal amplification technology in food microbiological detection

        Food-borne diseases caused by microbial contamination have always been a matter of great concern to human beings. Hence, the research on these problems has never stopped. With the development of microorganism amplification technology, more and more detection methods have come into our vision. However, traditional detection technologies presents more or less drawbacks, such as complicated operation, low accuracy, low sensitivity, long-time detection, and so on. Therefore, more convenient, accurate, and sensitive measurement for the microorganism are needed. Isothermal amplification technology is one of the alternative approach containing the above mentioned advantages. This work mainly summarizes the principles of loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and rolling circle amplification (RCA) which belong to isothermal amplification. Meanwhile, the application of LAMP and RCA in food microorganism detection is introduced.

      • Fuzzy Multi-objective Expected Value Optimization Models for Locating an Automotive Service Enterprise

        Automotive service enterprise location is an interesting and important issue in the logistic field. In practice, some factors of its facility location allocation (FLA) problem, i.e., customer demands, allocations, even locations of customers and facilities, are usually changing, and thus FLA problem features with uncertainty. To account for this uncertainty, some researchers have addressed the fuzzy time and cost issues for locating an automotive service enterprise. However, a decision-maker hopes to minimize the transportation time of customers meanwhile minimizing their transportation cost when locating a facility. Also, they prefer to arrive at the destination within the specific time and cost. To handle this issue via a more practical manner, by taking the vehicle inspection station as a typical automotive service enterprise example, this work presents a fuzzy multi-objective expected value optimization approach to address it. Moreover, some region constraints can greatly influence FLA and travel velocity is also an uncertain variable due to the influence of some unpredictable factors in the location process. To do so, this work builds two practical fuzzy multi-objectives programming models of its location with regional constraints, fuzzy inspection demand, and varying velocity. A hybrid algorithm integrating fuzzy simulation, neural networks (NN), and Genetic Algorithms (GA), namely a random weight based multi-objective NN-GA, is proposed to solve the proposed models. A numerical example is given to illustrate the proposed models and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

        Convolutional auto-encoder based multiple description coding network

        When data is transmitted over an unreliable channel, the error of the data packet may result in serious degradation. The multiple description coding (MDC) can solve this problem and save transmission costs. In this paper, we propose a deep multiple description coding network (MDCN) to realize efficient image compression. Firstly, our network framework is based on convolutional auto-encoder (CAE), which include multiple description encoder network (MDEN) and multiple description decoder network (MDDN). Secondly, in order to obtain high-quality reconstructed images at low bit rates, the encoding network and decoding network are integrated into an end-to-end compression framework. Thirdly, the multiple description decoder network includes side decoder network and central decoder network. When the decoder receives only one of the two multiple description code streams, side decoder network is used to obtain side reconstructed image of acceptable quality. When two descriptions are received, the high quality reconstructed image is obtained. In addition, instead of quantization with additive uniform noise, and SSIM loss and distance loss combine to train multiple description encoder networks to ensure that they can share structural information. Experimental results show that the proposed framework performs better than traditional multiple description coding methods.

        Comparison of Corticosteroids by 3 Approaches to the Treatment of Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps

        Purpose: Corticosteroids are regarded as the mainstay of medical treatment of eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (ECRSwNP). To date, a head-to-head comparison of the efficacy and safety of glucocorticoid preparations administered via different routes for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps has not been reported. To compare the efficacy and safety of steroids administered via the oral, intranasal spray and transnasal nebulization routes in the management of ECRSwNP over a short course. Methods: Overall, 91 patients with ECRSwNP were recruited prospectively and randomized to receive either oral methylprednisolone, budesonide inhalation suspension (BIS) via transnasal nebulization, or budesonide nasal spray (BNS) for 2 weeks. Nasal symptoms and polyp sizes were assessed before and after the treatment. Similarly, nasal polyp samples were evaluated for immunological and tissue remodeling markers. Serum cortisol levels were assessed as a safety outcome. Results: Oral methylprednisolone and BIS decreased symptoms and polyp sizes to a significantly greater extent from baseline (P < 0.05) than BNS. Similarly, BIS and oral methylprednisolone significantly reduced eosinophils, T helper 2 cells, eosinophil cationic protein, interleukin (IL)-5, and expression of matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9, and significantly increased type 1 regulatory T cells, IL-10, transforming growth factor-β, and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 1 and 2 in nasal polyps to a greater extent than BNS. Post-treatment serum cortisol levels were significantly decreased by oral methylprednisolone compared to BIS or BNS, which did not significantly alter the cortisol levels. Conclusions: A short course of BIS transnasal nebulization is more efficacious compared to BNS in the management of ECRSwNP and is safer than oral methylprednisolone with respect to hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis function.

        Preparation of Intumescent Flame Retardant Poly(butylene succinate) Using Urea Intercalated Kaolinite as Synergistic Agent

        Urea (U) was successfully intercalated into Kaolinite (Kaol) and the product K-U was introduced intopoly(butylene succinate) (PBS)/intumescent flame retardants (IFR) by melt blending. The structure of K-U was characterizedby X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The flame retardancy, thermal degradation,and combustion behavior of PBS composites were characterized by limiting oxygen index (LOI), vertical burning test to getUL-94 rating, thermogravimetricanalysis (TGA), and cone calorimeter test (Cone). With the introduction of K-U and IFRinto PBS, the LOI obviously increased from 21.9 % for neat PBS to 40.1 % for composite containing 20 wt% IFR/5 wt% KU;PBS cannot pass any UL-94 rating but the composite passed UL-94 V-0 rating. Similarly, the peak heat release rate(PHRR) in cone test decreased from 576 kW/m2 to 292 kW/m2. SEM results showed the char of the composite became morecompact and smooth.

        Volatile Compounds of Orange Wines Produced with and without Peel Contact

        The present study focused on the effects of peel contact on the volatile compounds of orange wines. The volatile compounds were analyzed by sensory and instrumental analyses. Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) was used for extraction of volatile compounds. A total of 19 and 27 volatile compounds were identified in without and with peel contact wines respectively. Esters were quantitatively the dominant group of volatile compounds in without peel contact wines, while terpenes were the most abundant compounds in peel contact wines. Totally 11 and 14 new formed compounds were found in without and with peel contact wines, mainly were esters, alcohols, and acids. According to sensory analysis, the peel contact wine showed a more citrus-like and fruity aroma than the wines without peel contact.

        Research on fault diagnosis method of reciprocating compressor valve based on IVMD-CMS model

        As for the complex shock vibration characteristics, the issue of difficult to extract the characteristic information of reciprocating compressor valve, a fault diagnosis method combining informational variational mode decomposition (IVMD) and cyclic modulation spectrum (CMS) is proposed. In this paper, the Bayesian information criterion (BIC) is optimized for the VMD decomposition parameter firstly, and the obtained IVMD algorithm is applied to decompose the signal into intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Secondly, the signal is reconstructed with the correlation coefficient. Finally, the CMS algorithm is utilized for the reconstructed signal analysis, from which main spectral features of the carrier frequency and cyclic frequency on the cyclic modulation spectrum are obtained. The characteristic information of the signal is highlighted with the amplitude and relationship of the frequency feature. The effectiveness and superiority of the method in the diagnosis of reciprocating compressor valve faults are demonstrated with the numerical simulation and experimental analysis.
