Central diabetes insipidus (DI) is a syndrome characterized by thirst, polydipsia and polyuria. Langerhans cell histiocytosis is one of the etiologies of DI. Recently we experienced a central DI associated with Langerhans cell histiocytosis. The 44 years old female patient complained right hip pain polydipsia and polyuria. We carried out water deprivation test. After vasopressin injection, urine osmotic pressure was increased form 109mOsmol/Kg to 327mOsmol/Kg (300%). Brain MRI showed a thickened pituitary stalk and at hot bone CT.CT guided biopsy revealed abnormal histiocytes proliferation and abundant lymphocytes, The final diagnosis was central DI associated with systemic Langerhans cell histiocytosis invading hip bone, L-spine and pituitary stalk. Desmopressin and etoposide chemotherapy were performed to the patient.

Characterization of Antihypertensive Angiotensin I-Converting Enzyme Inhibitor from Recombinant E. coli

안지오텐신(ACE) 저해제는 항고혈 효과를 갖고 있으므로 오랫동안 고혈압의 예방이나 치료에 이용되어 왔다. 본 연구는 재조합 대장균으로부터 새로운 ACE 저해제를 생산하고 정제하며 나아가 이들이 구조-기능 관P를 규명하기 위해 수행되었다. Saccharomyces cerevisiase의 ACE 저해 펩타이드 유전자를 함유하고 있는 재조합 pGEX-4T-3을 대장균 BL21(DE3)로 형질전환 시켰다. 재조합 pGEX-4T-3을 갖고 있는 대장균 BL21(DE3)로부터 생산된 Glutathione-s 전이효소 (GST) 융합 단백질을 얻어서 그중 ACE저해 펩타이드를 Sephadex G-25 컬럼 크로마토그래피로 정제하였다. 정제된 ACE 저해 펩타이드는 타이로신-아스파틱엑시드-그리신-글리신-발린-패닐알라린-아르기닌-발린-타이로신-트레오닌의 서열을 가진 새로운 decapeptide이었고 ACE에 대하여 경쟁적으로 저해하였다. The angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor has anti-hypertensive effects and has long been used as prevention or remedy of hypertension. This study were carried out to produce and purify a new ACE inhibitor from recombinant E. coli and further elucidate its structure-function relationship. Recombinant pGEX-4T-3 containing ACE inhibitory peptide gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae was transformed into E. coli BL21(DE3). Glutathione-S transferase (GST) fusion protein from E. coli BL21(DE3) harboring the recombinant pGEX-4T-3 was obtained and the ACE inhibitory peptide was purified with Sephadex G-25 column chromatography. The purified ACE inhibitory peptide was a novel decapeptide with sequence Tyr-Asp-Gly-Gly-Val-Phe -Arg-Val-Tyr-Thr which shows very low similarity to the other ACE inhibitory peptide sequence. The purified ACE inhibitor competitively inhibited ACE.

This study was designed to compare true digestible amino acid values for broiler offal meal with available amino acid values. Broiler offal meal was each force-fed to 6 intact and 6 caecectomised adult cockerels For each test, Cockerels were starved of food for 24 h, fed, and then excreta collected for 48 h. Crude protein, ether extract and ash of broiler offal meal were 50.5%, 16.7%, and 11.7%, respectively. True digestibilities of all seventeen measured amino acids were lower for caecectomised than intact cockerels, with the average difference being approximately 0. 10. True available amino acid of broiler offa meal was higher values for cystine and aspartic acid in intact than in caecetomised cockerels. Generally leucine, isoleucine and glutamic-acid were among the most available amino acids, while cystine, aspartic acid and threonine were among the least available amino acids in broiler offal meal for caecectomised cockerels.

The sacraments that have been played the central role in the lives and beliefs of the christians from the beginning of the church history was loosely defined as the sign of the sacred reality. But the church could never fully perceive the nature of the sacrament as sign language until the modern theories of symbolism have been developed. Unlike sign which only functions as an indicator to something other than itself, symbol not only reveals the symbolized reality but also make it present in itself without becoming the symbolized reality. As sacred symbol the sacrament is first of all the sacred thing, person, or place through which the divine reality is manifested. As the liturgical acts of the church, the sacrament is the festive act of Christian assembly which celebrates the divine salvation making the symbolized reality present. (Keimyung University)

A EMS(Electro Magnet Suspension) nonlinear system is linearized by using Taylor series expansion around nominal point. A method of stability analysis for a low-order characteristic equation with perturbed coefficients is proposed. A PID controller to the linearized EMS system is designed by the method. Computer simulations are carried out in the system with the controller for various masses.

흰쥐 콩팥여과관문의 노화 변화에 관한 투과전자현미경적 연구

콩팥의 모세여과관문은 토리모세혈관, 내피세포, 혈관사이바탕질, 토리바닥막, 발세포로 구성되어 있다. 콩팥의 노화가 일어나게 되면 형태학적 변형이 일어난다고 보고되었는데, 그 중 흰쥐의 경우 생쥐나 사람보다 노화에 따른 토리의 형태가 다양하게 관찰된다는 보고가 있다. 하지만 이런 연구들은 대부분 단면 위주로, 형태변화에 관한 입체적인 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 3개월이 지난 성숙한 흰쥐와 24개월이 지난 노화 흰쥐의 토리 모세여과관을 비교하여 그에 따른 형태변화를 광학 및 투과전자현미경을 이용하여 관찰하였으며, 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 연속절편을 통해 컴퓨터 프로그램을 기반으로 한 3차원 재구성을 시행하였다. 그 결과 노화 흰쥐의 토리에서 요공간의 확장, 모세혈관 내피세포의 변형, 토리바닥막의 비대, 혈관사이바탕질의 확장을 관찰할 수 있었다. 또한 3차원 재구성을 시행한 결과 노화 흰쥐의 토리에서 바닥막 경계의 붕괴 현상, 발세포 핵막의 조각화와 분절 양상, 발세포 세포돌기의 부분적인 수축과 세포돌기의 가늘어짐으로 인한 여과틈새의 확장을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이상의 결과로 미루어 볼 때, 노화가 진행되면 토리의 여과관문의 변형으로 인하여 콩팥의 생리학적 역할과 조절이 영향을 받을 것으로 사료된다. The filtration barrier of kidney consists of endothelial cell, glomerular capillary, glomerular basement membrane, mesangial matrix, and podocyte. In aged rats, the morphological changes were shown in various parts, including the glomerulus. These changes were thickening of basement membrane and mesangial matrix, crescent formation of glomerular capillary, deformity of foot processes, glomerular sclerosis and obsolescence. But these glomerular morphologies are partial images or few serial images analysis. In this study, we examined the morphological alteration of glomerulus in the young and aged rats by light microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and three dimensional reconstruction. We were found in aged rat glomerulus, expansion of urinary space and mesangial matrix, thickening and degrading of glomerular basement membrane, decreasing in podocyte foot processes, fragmentation of podocytic nucleus membrane. These observations indicate that may provide useful data for investigating the pathogenesis of age-related dysfunction of kidney.

針葉樹材의 南洋闊葉樹 문틀材 代替 可能性 調査

Since the supply of the Southeast Asian tropical timber decreases and its price steeply increases in the international lumber market, door and window frame manufacturers in this country are eagerly searching for their substitutes. This is the first step to replace Southeast Asian tropical timber by low grade North American softwoods. whose reliable and steady supply is expected, but their appearances are not as good as the tropical timber. In this study, knot distribution on the softwood boards and their warp were examined. The yield and production cost were calculated. The average number of knots on a door frame were 7.2 for Douglas-fir and 3.4 for Western hemlock. Only 11% of the knots of Douglas-fir door frames are larger than 5cm in diameter, while are 35% of the knots of Western hemlock. The deformations of door frames, after 2 months air-drying, were measured with a warp table. The deformation, of Western hemlock door frames were mostly less than 6mm, while those of Douglas-fir distributed in the range of 0.5 and 9.5mm. The yield of Western hemlock is higher than that of Douglas-fir. It can be concluded that the door frames made of the softwoods are compatible with those made of the tropical timber in most aspects except appearance.

커뮤니티 개념을 적용한 도시하천 수변공간 정비방안에 관한 연구

급속한 도시화의 과정에서 기존의 도시하천정비는 공공의 논리로 이수, 치수목적에 큰 비중을 두었다. 그 결과 도시하천의 생태계 파괴는 물론, 획일적인 개발형태로 인하여 경관에 많은 문제점을 지니게 되었고, 특히 대도시 내에서의 하천은 그 경향이 심각하게 나타나게 됨에 따라 도시민에게 외면당하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점 해결방안으로 커뮤니티 개념을 적용한 접근 방법을 시도함으로써 새로운 문화와 상징을 창출하고 해당지역 주민에게 정비사업에의 참여를 통한 지역애와 지역공동체성을 함양시킬 수 있는 새로운 방안을 모색해보고자 한다. During the rapid urbanizing period, consolidating the urban waterfront system was likely to be regarded to leave the water or to regulate waterfront by the public logic. According to this research as a result, we have a lot of problems not only about the destruction of ecosystem but also about their appearance by the exact same development forms. As the problem is being more serious in the metropolitan areas, the residents don't care any more. So here, we are trying to solve this problem by approaching the concept of the community planning, so that we can creat the new cultural symbol and also we can make the fascinating space that people can feel their place more like home and give them comfortable through citizen participation.
