Current Level of Reproductive Performances in Japanese Black Cows
Uchida, Hiroshi,Kobayasi, Jin,Inoue, Tatsushi,Suzuki, Keiichi,Oikawa, Takuro Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2002 Animal Bioscience Vol.15 No.8
A set of 313,169 reproduction records of Japanese Black cows calving between 1987 and 1996 were collected in nation widely Japan to investigate the current level of reproductive performances and the factors influencing the performances such as calving interval, first calving age, services per conception, calving difficulty, non-gestation period and gestation length. All the records of reproductive performances are outcome of artificial insemination. The means of first calving age, calving interval, non-gestation period and gestation length were 25.0 months, 389.9, 101.9 and 287.5 days, respectively. Services per conception were 1.41 and degree of calving difficulty was 1.07, which suggests most of the calving, did not need assistance. There were chronological tendencies that first calving age became younger while calving interval became longer. Differences in reproductive performance were found for seasons and calving numbers. Calving interval became shorter towards the fourth calving but became longer afterwards. The cows calving in May had the shortest calving interval followed by those in April and June and first calving age had a similar tendency. The cows with the standard body condition score showed more favourable reproductive performances compare with those with rather fatty or thin body condition scores.
Stress Determination in Epitaxial Lead Titanate Films by Asymmetric X-ray Diffraction Method
Uchida, Hiroshi,Kiguchi, Takanori,Wakiya, Naoki,Shinozaki, Kazuo,Mizutani, Nobuyasu The Korean Ceramic Society 2000 The Korean journal of ceramics Vol.6 No.4
Residual stresses in epitaxial films were measured by X-ray diffraction method. Lattice strains of the (hkl) planes measured along particular Ψ-angles were converted to the in-plane stress according to the equation of stress-strain tensor conversion. Residual tensile stresses were observed in epitaxial PbTiO$_3$ films deposited on (100) SrTiO$_3$ substrate. Tensile stresses approximately 0.9 GPa were measured in Pb-rich films, while it increased to approximately 2.0 GPa with the decreasing of Pb content in the case of Pb-poor films, which ascribed to the formation of lead and oxygen vacancies (expressed as x in Pb$_1-x$TiO$_3-x$).
Fluctuations of the Kuroshio transport derived from satellite altimeter data
Imawaki, Shiro,Uchida, Hiroshi 대한원격탐사학회 1997 International Symposium on Remote Sensing Vol.13 No.1
Kuroshio, the western boundary current of the North Pacific subtropical gyre, plays an important role in maintaining the global climate by carrying heat poleward. Its transport, however, has not yet been estimated well. Recently the ASUKA Group carried out observations of the Kuroshio, including direct current measurements and repeated hydrographic surveys. Estimated transports of the Kuroshio are proportional to sea surface height differences across the Kuroshio. This relationship and TOPEX/POSEIDON satellite altimetry data give us a time series of transport for more than three years with ten-day intervals, which shows large fluctuations but no apparent seasonal signals.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The treatment of an antiaromatic norcorrole NiII complex with a kinetically stabilized silylene provided ring‐expansion products in excellent yields through the highly regio‐ and stereoselective insertion into the β‐β pyrrolic CC bonds. The resultant NiII porphyrinoid monoinsertion product exhibited relatively strong near‐IR absorption bands due to the small HOMO–LUMO gap in spite of the disrupted cyclic π‐conjugation by the silicon atom.</P>

Background and Purpose Differences in measurement of the extent of acute ischemic stroke using the Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomographic Score (ASPECTS) by non-contrast computed tomography (CT-ASPECTS stratum) and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI-ASPECTS stratum) may impact the efficacy of endovascular therapy (EVT) in patients with a large ischemic core. Methods The RESCUE-Japan LIMIT (Recovery by Endovascular Salvage for Cerebral Ultra-acute Embolism Japan–Large IscheMIc core Trial) was a multicenter, open-label, randomized clinical trial that evaluated the efficacy and safety of EVT in patients with ASPECTS of 3–5. CT-ASPECTS was prioritized when both CT-ASPECTS and DWI-ASPECTS were measured. The effects of EVT on the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score at 90 days were assessed separately for each stratum. Results Among 183 patients, 112 (EVT group, 53; No-EVT group, 59) were in the CT-ASPECTS stratum and 71 (EVT group, 40; No-EVT group, 31) in the DWI-ASPECTS stratum. The common odds ratio (OR) (95% confidence interval) of the EVT group for one scale shift of the mRS score toward 0 was 1.29 (0.65–2.54) compared to the No-EVT group in CT-ASPECTS stratum, and 6.15 (2.46–16.3) in DWI-ASPECTS stratum with significant interaction between treatment assignment and mode of imaging study (<i>P</i>=0.002). There were significant interactions in the improvement of the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score at 48 hours (CT-ASPECTS stratum: OR, 1.95; DWIASPECTS stratum: OR, 14.5; interaction <i>P</i>=0.035) and mortality at 90 days (CT-ASPECTS stratum: OR, 2.07; DWI-ASPECTS stratum: OR, 0.23; interaction <i>P</i>=0.008). Conclusion Patients with ASPECTS of 3–5 on MRI benefitted more from EVT than those with ASPECTS of 3–5 on CT.

This paper deals with the study of four-dimensional automata. Recently, due to the advances in many application areas such as dynamic image processing, computer animation, augmented reality (AR), and so on, it is useful for analyzing computation of four-dimensional information processing (three-dimensional pattern processing with time axis) to explicate the properties of four-dimensional automata. From this point of view, we have investigated many properties of four-dimensional automata and computational complexity. On the other hand, the class of sets accepted by probabilistic machines have been studied extensively. As far as we know, however, there is no results concerned with four-dimensional probabilistic machines. In this paper, we introduce four-dimensional probabilistic finite automata, and investigate some accepting powers of them.
