      • GC/MS를 이용한 육두구 향미성분 분석

        The characterization of the powerful flavor components of the nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) belongs to the myristiaceae was carried out by head space solid phase micro-extraction (HS-SPME) and gas chromatography ion trap mass spectrometry (GC/MS) with electron impact ionization. In HS-SPME, a bipolar carboxen/PDMS (black hub, 75 μm thickness) fiber was used. A total of 33 compounds were identified in the ground kernel of the nutmeg. Predominant volatile aroma compounds of the nutmeg were sabinene (16.04%), α-pinene (11.62%), β-pinene (9.57%), γ-terpinene (7.92%), (+)-limonene (7.44%), α-thujene (6.18%), and β-myrcene (5.33%). β-Phellandrene (4.72%), α-terpinene (4.69%), ρ-cymene (3.98%), α-copaene (3.46%), elemicin (3.18%), (-)-terpinen-4-ol (3.06%), myristicin (1.95%), terpinolene (1.91%), safrole (1.35%), α-phellandrene (1.33%), β-selinene (0.97%), 2-ρ-tolypropene (0.83%), 3-carene (0.71%), aromadendrene (0.69%), germacrene D (0.56%), methyl eugenol (0.55%), farnesene (0.40%), α-terpineol (0.28%), β-caryophyllene (0.25%), myrtenyl acetate (0.21%), sabinene hydrate (0.21%), linalool (0.14%), terpinyl acetate (0.14%), DL-camphene (0.13%), bornyl acetate (0.12%), and calamenene (0.08%) were found as minor constituents.

        Proliferative glomerulonephritis with monoclonal IgG deposits is a novel phenotype of glomerular injury with the diagnostic criteria of (1) the presence of glomerular monoclonal IgG deposits restricted to a single IgG subclass and a single light chain isotype, associated with endocapillary proliferative, membranoproliferative, or membranous features; (2) the presence of granular("immune complex type") deposits by electron microscopy; and (3) the absence of clinical and laboratory evidence of cryoglobulinemia. We report a case of 65-year-old man with generalized edema who was diagnosed as proliferative glomerulonephritis with monoclonal IgG deposits by renal biopsy.

      • SPME와 GC/MS를 이용한 녹나무 향기성분 특성분석

        Recently, land managers have come to realize that, outside Asia, camphor trees grow like street-tree or weeds, infesting forests and displacing native trees. This is because camphor trees are prolific seed producers that do not have serious predators or diseases outside their native range. The camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora), belongs to lauraceae, is the aromatic evergreen tree from which camphor was derived. Headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and GC-MS were applied for the analysis of volatile fragrances emanated from camphor tree. Divinylbenzene / Carboxen / PDMS fiber was used for HS-SPME adsorption materials. (+)-Camphor (31.00%) and cineol (21.89%) were found as the major volatile aroma components from Chinese camphor tree, whereas (+)-camphor (62.06%) and β-caryophyllene (10.01%) from Japanese camphor tree. Camphor tree is a promising garden tree for well-being.

      • 에너지 소비를 고려한 Ad-Hoc 네트워크에서의 라우팅 알고리즘

        Ad-Hoc 네트워크는 배터리를 에너지원으로 사용하는 휴대용 기기들이 동적으로 연결되어 자치적인 네트워크 망을 형성한다. 따라서 제한된 에너지 자원을 효율적으로 관리하는 것은 시스템 수명(활동시간)을 좌우하는 중요한 문제가 된다. 본 논문에서는 위치 정보를 기반으로 한 라우팅에서 다양한 metric으로 이동 호스트의 에너지 소비와 네트워크의 시스템 수명을 비교하며, 각 이동 호스트의 잔여에너지와 소모된 에너지의 비율, 그리고 메시지 전송에 필요한 에너지들을 함께 고려한 새로운 라우팅 방법을 제시한다. 이 방법은 전체 네트워크 시스템 수명을 최대화하는 균형된 에너지 소모를 고려한 라우팅 방법이다.

        Mature cystic teratoma is the most common tumor of the ovary. However, Carcinoid tumor arising from mature cystic teratoma is very rare andmultiple parasitic teratomas are extremely rare. There is nopublished report on carcinoid tumor arising in ovarian mature cystic teratoma and coexisting mature cystic teratoma of omentum, peritoneum, and ovary in the world until now. A 50-year old woman stumbled upon pelvic mass in health screening and she was referred to our clinic. The pelvic ultrasonography and abdomen-pelvisMRI showed the presence of about 20 cm sized left ovarian mass, about 7 cm sized right ovarian mass, and omental masses(the largest one: about 8 cm). So, we considered the malignancy possibility and performed a total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpino-oophorectomy, excision of omental and peritoneal mass. The histology confirmed carcinoid tumor in left mature cystic teratoma and mature cystic teratoma in bilateral ovary, omental and peritoneal mass. After the operation, she had discharged without complication and has been outpatient follow-up. We report a case of carcinoid tumor arising in ovarian mature cystic teratoma and coexisting mature cystic teratoma of omentum, peritoneum and ovary for the first time in the world.

        Poly(dimethylsiloxane) Mini-disk Extraction

        A novel sampling method of the headspace poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) mini-disk extraction (HS-PDE) was developed, optimized, validated and applied for the GC/MS analysis of spices flavors. A prototype PDMS mini-disk (8 mm outer diameter, 0.157 mm thickness, 9.4 mg weight) has been designed and fabricated as a sorption device. The technique uses a small PDMS mini-disk and very small volume of organic solvent and less sample size than the solvent extraction. This new HS-PDE method is very simple to use, inexpensive, rapid, requires less labor. Linearities of calibration curves for ${\alpha}$-pinene, ${\beta}$-pinene, limonene and ${\gamma}$-terpinene by HS-PDE combined with GC/MS were excellent having $r^2$ values greater than 0.99 at the dynamic range of 6.06~3500 ng/mL. The limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantitation (LOQ) showed very low values. This method exhibited good precision and accuracy. The overall extraction efficiency of this method was evaluated by using partition coefficients ($K_p$) and concentration factors (CF) for several characteristic components from nutmeg and mace. Partition coefficients were in the range from $2.04{\times}10^4$ to $4.42{\times}10^5$, while CF values were 0.88-15.03. HS-PDE was applied successfully for the analysis of flavors compositions from nutmeg, mace and cumin. The HS-PDE method is a very promising sampling technique for the characterization of volatile flavors.

        Analysis of Flavor Composition of Coriander Seeds by Headspace Mulberry Paper Bag Micro-Solid Phase Extraction

        This paper reports the example of headspace mulberry paper bag micro solid phase extraction (HS-MPB-$\mu$-SPE) as a new sampling method for the determination of volatile flavor composition of coriander seeds. Adsorption efficiencies between two configurations of mulberry paper bag were compared, and several parameters affecting the HS-MPB-$\mu$-SPE were investigated and optimized. The optimized technique uses an adsorbent (Tenax TA, 0.1 mg) contained in a mulberry paper bag of front configuration where fine surface was outside, and minimal amount of organic solvent (0.6 mL). Linalool and $\gamma$-terpinene were found as abundant flavor compounds from coriander seeds. The limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantitation (LOQ) for linalool of major flavor in coriander seeds were 10.3 ng/mL and 34.4 ng/mL, respectively. The proposed method showed good reproducibility and good recovery. The HS-MPB-$\mu$-SPE is very simple to use, inexpensive, requires small sample amounts and solvent consumption. Because the solvent for extraction is reduced to only a very small volume, there is minimal waste or exposure to toxic organic solvent and no further concentration step.

      • Charactrization of OsNAC69 gene related to bacterial leaf blight resistance

        Plant specific gene family, NAC (NAM, ATAF, and CUC) transcription factors have been characterized for their roles in plant growth, development, and stress tolerance. In this study, we isolated OsNAC69 gene and analysed expression level by inoculation of bacterial leaf blight pathogen, Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo). NAC transcription factor family can be divided into five groups (I–V). On the basis of phylogenetic analysis, OsNAC69 was fall into group II. OsNAC69 was strongly induced 1 hr after infected with Xoo. To investigate its biological function in the rice, we constructed vector for overexpression in rice, and then generated transgenic rices. Gene expression of OsNAC69-overexpressed transgenic rice lines were analyzed by northern blot. Analysis of disease resistance to pathogen Xoo, nine OsNAC69-overexpressed transgenic rice lines showing high expression level of OsNAC69 were shown more resistant than wild type. These results suggest that OsNAC69 gene may play regulatory role during pathogen infection.
