Purpose Patients with advanced biliary tract cancer (BTC) have a poor survival. We aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine and cisplatin regimen in Chinese advanced BTC patients.Materials and Methods Eligible patients with locally advanced or metastatic BTC administrated intravenous 100 mg/m<sup>2</sup> nab-paclitaxel, 800 mg/m<sup>2</sup> gemcitabine, and 25 mg/m<sup>2</sup> cisplatin every 3 weeks. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS). The secondary endpoints included overall survival (OS) and adverse events, while exploratory endpoint was the association of biomarkers with efficacy.Results After the median follow-up of 25.0 months, the median PFS and OS of 34 enrolled patients were 7.1 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 5.4 to 13.7) and 16.4 months (95% CI, 10.9 to 23.6), respectively. The most common treatment-related adverse events at ≥ 3 grade were neutropenia (26.5%) and leukopenia (26.5%). Survival analyses demonstrated that carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels could monitor patients’ survival outcomes. A significant increase in the number of infiltrating CD4+ cells (p=0.008) and a decrease in programmed death-1–positive (PD-1+) cells (p=0.032) were observed in the response patients.Conclusion In advanced BTC patients, nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine and cisplatin regimen showed therapeutic potential. Potential prognostic factors of CEA levels, number of CD4+ cells and PD-1+ cells may help us maximize the efficacy benefit.

In this paper, a new simple approach has been developed for the preparation of α-Fe2O3 microspheres by a facile hydrothermal method using PVP as a surfactant. Uniform α-Fe2O3 microspheres could be routinely synthesized through solvothermal approach by controlling the PVP/FeCl3⋅6H2O ratio. The as-obtained α-Fe2O3 microspheres exhibit high efficiency on the decolorization of RhB aqueous solution in the presence of H2O2 at room temperature.
Sequencial Enzymatic Synthesis of Sugar nucleotides and Poly-LacNAc

Poly-N-acetyllactosamine (poly-LacNAc, (3Gal1-4GlcNAc1-)n) is a linear carbohydrate polymer composed by repeatingN-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) and galactose (Gal) residues. These polysaccharides are found either on N- / O-linked glycoproteins or glycolipids and involve in diverse cellular functions such as differentiation, apoptosis, and metastasis. Poly-LacNAc can be further modified by various glycosyltransferases to create branched structures and display terminal epitopes. Sialylated and fucosylated derivatives of poly-LacNAc have been characterized as specific ligands for different lectins such as selectins and galectins as well as being tumor-associated antigens.It is demanded to have various lengths of oligo-LacNAc for studying LacNAc associated biology. However, the traditional organic synthesis requires tedious multiple protection and de-protection steps which are heavily relied on labor-intensive and time-consuming synthetic routes. To efficiently and quickly produce oligo-LacNAc, we expressed the recombinant bacterial enzymes, □ - 1,3-N-acetyl-glucosaminyltransferase of Helicobacter pylori (HpGnT) and □ -1,4-galactosyltransferase of Neisseria meningitides (NmGalT), from E. coli. Defined lengths of oligo-LacNAcs were synthesized by using the expressed enzymes in the presence of sugar donors, uridine 5’-diphosphate galactose (UDP- Gal) and uridine 5’-diphosphate N-acetylglucosamine (UDP-GlcNAc). To reduce the cost of NDP-sugars used in the oligo-LacNAc synthesis, we set up an enzymatic system for one-pot synthesis of NDP- sugars by using a wild-type bacterial thymidylyltransferase (RmlA). In this study, we applied RmlA to synthesize both UDP-Gal and UDP-GlcNAc. In combination with the use of corresponding kinases, UDP- GlcNAc and UDP-Gal were obtained from cheap starting materials, GlcNAc and Gal. Take the advantage of the great thermal stability of RmlA, the sugar nucleotides were prepared with quantitative yield at 55 oC within two hours. By the alternative addition of HpGnT and NmGalT, different lengths of oligo-LacNAc were synthesized. Compare to previous report, we successfully achieve the synthesis of oligo-LacNAc with a more economical way.
Nonlinear Instability of Angle Section Beams under Uniformly Distributed Loads

This paper presents a study on the flattening behavior of angle-section beams of finite length subjected to uniformly distributed transverse loads. Analytical solutions for static instabilities of angle-section beams when they are bent about their weak axis are derived using energy methods. The basic assumptions used in the present study are that the total strain energy of an angle-section beam subjected to a uniformly distributed load can be simplified into a two-stage process. One is the bending response of the two legs behaving as the plate; the other is the bending response as a beam with flattened section. The nonlinear instability is derived by applying the minimum potential energy principle and the corresponding static critical moments associated with the section flattening-induced buckling are determined. To validate the analytical solution developed, nonlinear finite element analyses are also conducted. Good agreement between the present solution and the FEA results is demonstrated.
Loss of MicroRNA-137 Impairs the Homeostasis of Potassium in Neurons via KCC2

Neuropsychiatric disorders are the leading cause of mental and intellectual disabilities worldwide. Current therapies against neuropsychiatric disorders are very limited, and very little is known about the onset and development of these diseases, and their most effective treatments. MIR137 has been previously identified as a risk gene for the etiology of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and autism spectrum disorder. Here we generated a forebrain-specific MIR137 knockout mouse model, and provided evidence that loss of miR-137 resulted in impaired homeostasis of potassium in mouse hippocampal neurons. KCC2, a potassium-chloride co-transporter, was a direct downstream target of miR-137. The KCC2 specific antagonist VU0240551 could balance the current of potassium in miR-137 knockout neurons, and knockdown of KCC2 could ameliorate anxiety-like behavior in MIR137 cKO mice. These data suggest that KCC2 antagonists or knockdown might be beneficial to neuropsychiatric disorders due to the deficiency of miR-137.
Ultrasound imaging for inguinal hernia: a pictorial review

Inguinal hernia is the most prevalent type of abdominal wall hernia. Indirect inguinal hernia is twice as common as direct inguinal hernia. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging can be used to evaluate inguinal hernia, but these modalities are greatly limited by their cost and availability. Ultrasonography has emerged as the most convenient imaging tool for diagnosing inguinal hernia due to its advantages, such as portability and absence of radiation. The present pictorial review presents an overview on the use of ultrasonography in the evaluation of inguinal hernia with a particular emphasis on the regional anatomy, relevant scanning tips, identification of subtypes, postoperative follow-up, and diagnosis of pathologies mimicking inguinal hernia.
