The emergences of multi-drug resistant bacteria such as Acinetobacter baumanni have emphasized the necessity of new antibiotics. Peptidyl deformylase (PDF) catalyzes the removal of the formyl group from the N-terminal formylated methionine residue present in all nascent polypeptides in bacteria. In this study, the PDF gene from Acinetobacter baumannii K0420859 was cloned and its protein was overexpressed in E. coli, purified, and crystallized. The purified protein was crystallized using the hanging-drop vapour-diffusion method and the crystal diffracted to 2.4 Å resolution. The crystal belonged to the trigonal space group P3 2 with unit cell parameters of a = b= 39.4 Å and c = 187.9 Å. Two protomers were presented in the asymmetric unit with a corresponding V M of 2.10 Å 3 Da -1 and a solvent content of 41.5%.

This study investigated the structures, dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoeletric properties of lead-free (0.99 x ) Bi 0.5 Na 0.5 TiO 3 0.01CaTiO 3 x SrTiO 3 (BNT CT 100 x ST, x = 0.22–0.30) piezoelectric ceramics. These piezoceramics were successfully prepared using the conventional solid-state reaction method sintered at 1175 °C for 2 h. It was found that a phase transition from nonergodic relaxor to ergodic relaxor was induced by ST modifi cation in BNT CT ceramics. Consequently, a large electromechanical strain of 0.20% corresponding to high normalized strain d∗ 33 of 667 pm/V was obtained even under 3 kV/mm for BNT CT 28ST ceramics. Therefore, it is noted that lead-free BNT CT 100 x ST ceramics can be promising candidates for actuator applications.
Estimating Hydrodynamic Coefficients of Real Ships Using AIS Data and Support Vector Regression

In response to the complexity and time demands of conventional methods for estimating the hydrodynamic coefficients, this study aims to revolutionize ship maneuvering analysis by utilizing automatic identification system (AIS) data and the Support Vector Regression (SVR) algorithm. The AIS data were collected and processed to remove outliers and impute missing values. The rate of turn (ROT), speed over ground (SOG), course over ground (COG) and heading (HDG) in AIS data were used to calculate the rudder angle and ship velocity components, which were then used as training data for a regression model. The accuracy and efficiency of the algorithm were validated by comparing SVR-based estimated hydrodynamic coefficients and the original hydrodynamic coefficients of the Mariner class vessel. The validated SVR algorithm was then applied to estimate the hydrodynamic coefficients for real ships using AIS data. The turning circle test was simulated from calculated hydrodynamic coefficients and compared with the AIS data. The research results demonstrate the effectiveness of the SVR model in accurately estimating the hydrodynamic coefficients from the AIS data. In conclusion, this study proposes the viability of employing SVR model and AIS data for accurately estimating the hydrodynamic coefficients. It offers a practical approach to ship maneuvering prediction and control in the maritime industry.

In this study, graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized by the improved Hummers’ method. The degree of oxidation from graphite (Gi) to GO was determined through interlayer spacing calculated from X–ray diffraction. Besides, the effect of KMnO4:Gi ratios (X1), H2SO4 volume (X2), oxidation temperature (X3), oxidation time of stage 1 (X4), and oxidation time of stage 2 (X5) was screened by the Plackett–Burman model. The simultaneous impact of three factors that influenced the degree of oxidation (X1, X2, and X3) was studied by the Box–Behnken experimental model of response surface methodology to achieve suitable conditions for the GO synthesis process. The characterization of GO product was investigated via the modern analytical methods: X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, UV–Vis spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. In addition, the study was also carried out on a pilot scale for orientation in industrial application with the yield of 14 g/batch.

Four lignans, meso-dihydroguaiaretic acid(DHGA), macelignan, fragransin A2 and nectandrin B,were isolated from the seeds of Myristica fragrans (Vietnamesenutmeg) and investigated for their cytotoxicactivity against eight cancer cell lines. Of these, DHGAexhibited potent cytotoxicity against H358 with IC50 valueof 10.1 lM. In addition, DHGA showed antitumor activityin allogeneic tumor-bearing mice model.
