Anethum as vast growing aromatic plant of family umbelliferae which is extensively used in therapeutic preparations and in different cuisines. The plant is a local inhabitant of southern Europe known as Dill originating from Norse Dilla which means to have soothing and healing ability. The phytochemical investigation revealed the presence of flavonoids, glucosides, alkaloids, vitamins, minerals, proteins and essential oil. The present review emphasizes mainly on the significant information about its phytochemical investigations, pharmacological activities as well as ethnopharmacological properties as traditional medicine. The plant has been investigated and it displayed notable pharmacological activities such as antidiabetic, antimicrobial activity, antioxidant and cytotoxic activity, hypoglycemic and hematopoietic potential, insecticidal activity. The entire plant is important for the medicinal purpose which can be further explored and studied for future pharmaceutical perspective.

Understanding of material behavior of armour steel under large deformations and high strains during loading is very crucial indesigning steel structures for various applications. Johnson–Cook flow stress and Johnson–Cook failure models were adoptedfor modeling and predicting the material flow behavior of armour plate. The material parameters of Johnson–Cook flowstress have been determined experimentally from tests performed at different strain rates (10−4–1550 s−1) and temperatures(25–600 °C). The damage parameters of Johnson–Cook failure model were determined through experiments on flat tensilespecimens in combination with finite element simulation. Using these materials parameters, finite element simulations wereperformed on notch specimens of different radii between 2 mm and 20 mm loaded under tension. Load-strain curves werein good agreement with the experimentally obtained data. Triaxiality obtained from simulation were matched against thereported values from the literature.
MRI Appearance of Florid Cystic Endosalpingiosis of the Uterus: a Case Report
Sangeeta Taneja,Ramandeep Sidhu,Anuj Khurana,R Sekhon,Anurag Mehta,Amarnath Jena 대한영상의학회 2010 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.11 No.4
Endosalpingiosis is a non-neoplastic proliferation of ectopic tubal epithelium. It may be found incidentally or the patients may present with chronic pelvic pain. It may resemble a gynecologic malignancy on imaging findings and clinicians and radiologists should be aware of this benign entity to render a correct diagnosis and to avoid over-treatment. We report here the MR imaging appearance of a case of florid cystic endosalpingiosis.

Treatment of cognitive disorders is a challenging task in neurology since long time. Crataegus oxyacantha, also known as hawthorn belongs to family Rosaceae grown in colder areas and is one of the most widely used herb for the treatment of heart disorders. Traditionally Crataegus oxyacantha has also been used to treat Alzheimer disease, nervousness, stress, pain, and sleep disorders. In this study nootropic activity of petroleum ether, chloroform and methanol extract of Crataegus oxyacantha leaves was assessed using elevated plus maze model. Scopolamine (1 mg/kg) was used as amnesia inducing agent and piracetam (120 mg/kg) as standard nootropic drug. On the last day of the experiment, biochemical parameters like acetylcholinesterase, lipid peroxidase and superoxide dismutase were measured in brain homogenate. Effect of Crataegus oxyacantha on monoamines mediated behaviour was assessed through lithium induced head twitches and haloperidol induced catalepsy model in rats. Among all three extracts, methanol extract of Crataegus oxyacantha caused highest reduction in transfer latency time significantly as measured on 7th and 14th day and on 8th and 15th day on elevated maze and also decreased acetylcholinesterase and lipid peroxidase level and increased super oxide dismutase content as compared to scopolamine group. Methanol extract of Crataegus oxyacantha (200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg) decreased number of head twitches and duration of catalepsy in rats significantly compared to vehicle treated group. So our study showed promising effect of Crataegus oxyacantha in enhancing learning and memory due to the presence of certain phytoconstituents.

Various parameters such as solvent selection, concentration, soaking time, and temperature were tested in a single bioreactor in order to determine optimum extraction conditions of glucoamylase, when produced simultaneously with protease by Aspergillus awamari nakazawa MTCC 6652. Optimum conditions were achieved in a 10% glycerol solution soaked for 2 h at 40℃, followed by concentration of extracted glucoamylase (9,157 U/gds) by acetone precipitation (1:2, v/v), which yielded 51.9% recovery. Ion exchange chromatography and gel filtration showed specific activities of 270.5 and 337.5 U/mg, respectively, while SDS-PAGE and zymogram analysis of glucoamylase indicated the presence of three starch-hydrolyzing isoforms with molecular weights of approximately 109.6, 87.1, and 59.4 kDa, respectively.

Due to poor literacy rate and household responsibilities, Indian women are mostly found to be involved into home based cottage industry as a major workforce. Handloom industry one of the biggest home based cottage industry accounts to be the second largest industry in India, after agriculture where 77.9% of the workforce are women (National Handloom Census 2011). For handloom weaving, the weavers adopt different awkward postures along with high force and highly repetitive nature of task for more than 8 hours of work schedule. Due to economic crisis, the weavers work on handlooms on the cost of their health. A sample of 150 women weavers from 118 handlooms clusters were studied using REBA (rapid entire body assessment) assessment tool. REBA helps in assessing the biomechanical and postural loading of the whole body and helps in understanding the level of musculoskeletal disorders. Results showed a significant association between individual body parts score with self-reported pains obtained by body map. No association was observed in case of Left Lower Arm and leg pain.

A total of 10 cellulase-producing bacteria were isolated from soil samples irrigated with paper and pulp mill effluents. The sequencing of 16S rRNA gene revealed that all isolates belonged to different species of genus Bacillus. Among the different isolates, B. subtilis IARI-SP-1 exhibited a high degree of β-1,4-endoglucanase (2.5 IU/ml), β-1,4-exoglucanase (0.8 IU/ml), and β-glucosidase (0.084 IU/ml) activity, followed by B. amyloliquefaciens IARI-SP-2. CMC was found to be the best carbon source for production of endo/exoglucanase and β-glucosidase. The β-1,4-endoglucanase gene was amplified from all isolates and their deduced amino acid sequences belonged to glycosyl hydrolase family 5. Among the domains of different isolates, the catalytic domains exhibited the highest homology of 93.7%, whereas the regions of signal, leader, linker, and carbohydrate-binding domain indicated low homology (73-74%). These variations in sequence homology are significant and could contribute to the structure and function of the enzyme.
Controlling the Ferrite Kinetics in Fe-C-Mn Alloys
Sangeeta Khare,Puneet Mahajan 대한금속·재료학회 2015 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.21 No.3
The phase transformation of austenite to ferrite in Fe-C-Mn system is studied by varying systematically concentration of C and Mn using DICTRA software. Ferrite kinetics is controlled by the partitioning of elements between ferrite and austenite phases. The elements that stabilize austenite phase tend to partition more towards the austenite phase as compared to the ferrite phase. The ferrite fraction, the rate of migration of the interface and the partitioning of elements between austenite and ferrite phases are evaluated by varying concentration of C and Mn in Fe-C-Mn system. The fraction of ferrite decreases with the increase in concentration of C and Mn. These elements influence ferrite kinetics through a growth process which occurs either under partition local equilibrium mode or negligible partition local equilibrium mode. The results show that both Mn and C retard ferrite transformation in Fe-C-Mn alloy. It is possible to get the desired fraction of ferrite by controlling the relative concentration of C and Mn.
