Economic Reliability test plans(ERTP) are proposed considering that the life time of the submitted items follow the Pareto distribution of the second kind. For various specified acceptance number, sample size and producer's risk, a minimum test termination time is obtained. A comparison of proposed plan has been made with the existing plan developed by Aslam et al. (2010). The results are explained by tables and example.
A control chart for COM-Poisson distribution using a modified EWMA statistic
Aslam, Muhammad,Saghir, Aamir,Ahmad, Liaquat,Jun, Chi-Hyuck,Hussain, Jaffer Informa UK (TaylorFrancis) 2017 JOURNAL OF STATISTICAL COMPUTATION AND SIMULATION Vol.87 No.18

In this paper, a control chart has been developed for the Conway-Maxwell Poisson (COM-Poisson) distribution using the modified exponentially weighted moving average statistic. The proposed chart provides an efficient detection of smaller changes in the location parameter of the COM-Poisson distribution. The performance of the proposed control chart has been evaluated by the average and the standard deviation of the run length distribution for various parameters. Better detecting ability has also been compared with the existing control chart using EWMA statistic. Using simulation, we also showed the detecting ability over the traditional EWMA chart.

Membrane bioreactor (MBR) is a reliable and promising technology for wastewater treatment and reclamation applications. In spite of more than a decade of significant advances in developing fouling mitigation methods, different physical and cleaning protocols are still necessary to be developed to limit the membrane fouling. The use of scouring agents in MBR applications has been paid attention as a new approach as an energy-efficient way to control membrane fouling. Recently, mechanical cleaning by scouring agents is becoming an intense research area considering high efficiency of fouling reduction while requiring low energy consumption. In this review, fundamental and comprehensive assessments of the mechanical cleaning concepts and their applications with porous and nonporous scouring agents for MBR system are critically reviewed. The existing challenges and future research prospects on the mechanical cleaning technology associated with scouring agents for the MBR applications are also discussed.
A correlation study between weather and atmosphere with COVID-19 pandemic in Islamabad, Pakistan
Aslam Bilal,Khalil Umer,Azam Umar,Maqsoom Ahsen 대한공간정보학회 2021 Spatial Information Research Vol.29 No.4
The present research aims to investigate the association amid weather and the most recent pandemic of COVID-19 in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The source of COVID-19 surveillance data for the secondary data analysis was the Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination. The weather data obtained from the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) was exercised in this research. The components of weather include wind speed (m/s), precipitation level (mm), normal, mean, maximum, and minimum temperature (C). For data analysis, a non-parametric correlation test was used due to the reason that normality was not satisfied. Precipitation level (r = - 0.285; p =0 .022), normal temperature (r = 0.293; p = 0.019) as well as the maximum temperature (r = 0.347; p = 0.005) were very much associated with COVID-19 virus. Pollution data (showing the concentration of NO2) of the specific region comprising the study area extracted from the Sentinel-5P satellite was also compared for the two years (2019 and 2020). Since the country will be entering to a new weather season, the conclusions may well assist the strategy and decision-makers in the deterrence of COVID-19.
Utility of 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in potential living kidney donors
Aslam Nabeel,Memon Sobia H.,Wadei Hani,Lesser Elizabeth R.,Niazi Shehzad K. 대한고혈압학회 2021 Clinical Hypertension Vol.27 No.4
Introduction: Hypertension (HTN) is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease; therefore, it is imperative to risk stratify potential kidney donors during evaluation. Clinic blood pressure (CBP) measurement is inaccurate in assessing presence or absence of HTN. There is paucity of data about utility of 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) during kidney donor evaluation. Methods: 24-h ABPM is performed on all kidney donors at Mayo Clinic Florida. We conducted retrospective review of 264 consecutive potential kidney donors from 1/1/2012 to 12/31/2017. Demographic, comorbid conditions, laboratory results and 24-h ABPM data were collected. Subjects were divided into two groups: Group1: Subjects with no prior history of HTN and new diagnosis of HTN using 24-h ABPM; Group 2: Subjects with no prior history of hypertension and normal BP on 24-h ABPM. Results: Baseline demographic included mean age 46.40 years, 39% males, 78.4% Caucasians, and mean BMI was 26.94. Twenty one subjects (8.0%) had prior diagnosis of HTN. Among 243 subjects without prior HTN, 62 (25.5%) were newly diagnosed with HTN using 24-h ABPM. CBP was high only in 27 out of 62 (43.6%) of newly diagnosed HTN subjects. Thirty-five subjects (14.4%) had masked HTN and 14 subjects (5.8%) had white-coat HTN. Newly diagnosed hypertensive subjects were more likely to be males as compared to Group 2 (53.2% vs 34.3% P = 0.008). There was a trend of more non-Caucasians subjects (30.6% vs 19.9% P = 0.08) and more active smokers (17.7% vs 11.6%, P = 0.054) in Group1 as compared to Group 2. Only 17 (27.4%) out of 62 newly diagnosed hypertensive subjects were deemed suitable for kidney donation as compared to 105 (58.0%) out of 181 normotensive subjects (P < 0.001). Conclusion: In our cohort, use of ABPM resulted in new diagnosis of HTN in 1 out of 4 potential kidney donors. Newly diagnosed HTN was more common in men, those with non-Caucasian race, and in active smokers. There was a significantly reduced acceptance rate for kidney donation among newly diagnosed HTN subjects. Further studies are needed to determine the value of 24-h ABPM among these high risk groups.
An Improved Group Sampling Plan Based on Time-Truncated Life Tests
Aslam, Muhammad,Pervaiz, Muhammad Khalid,Jun, Chi-Hyuck The Korean Statistical Society 2010 Communications for statistical applications and me Vol.17 No.3
In this paper, a new group sampling plan for the lot acceptance is proposed for the time truncated life test, which can be utilized when multi-item testers are implemented. The design parameters are found using the two-point approach such that the producer's and consumer's risks are satisfied simultaneously at the acceptable reliability level and the lot tolerance reliability level, respectively. The case of Weibull distribution is described to illustrate the procedure that can be used when the quality level is expressed by a multiple of the specified life. The advantage of the proposed plan is demonstrated by comparing with the existing plan in terms of the sample size required. The tables are constructed and some examples are given to illustrate the procedure developed here.
