본 논문은 이상의 경성고공 시절 그의 선생이었던 후지시마 가이지로가 조선건축회의 기관지 <조선과 건축>에 실었던 서구의 건축예술과 관련된 일련의 글을 검토한 것이다. 이를 통해 이상이 1931~2년에 발표한 초기 일문시들 속에 들어나는 조감하는 시선과 투시하는 시선, 그리고 빛의 속도를 통해 입체파의 중첩된 시선들을 표현하고자 했던 일련의 경향이 시작된 기원을 탐색하고자 했다. 후지시마 가이지로는 1924년부터 평면 조감도를 입체화하는 데 커다란 관심을 갖고 있었고, 이후 구미 유학을 거치면서 표현주의 건축과 바우하우스, 르 꼬르뷔지에에 이르는 서구의 현대건축에 대해 풍부한 관점을 획득하였다. 그는 이러한 결과들을 모두 <조선과 건축>에 번역이나 논문의 형식으로 실었던 것이다. 즉, 이상이 1931년에 보여줄 수 있었던 초기 일문시의 전위성이란 한편으로는 이처럼 후지시마가 보여주었던 서구의 건축예술에 대한 이해에 바탕을 두고 펼쳐진 것이라 해도 과언은 아니다. 특히 이 글에서는 당시 이상이 초기 일문시에서 보여준 ‘시선’을 크게 두 가지로 파악한다. 하나는 조감하는 시선으로, 3점 투시에 바탕을 둔 조감도의 시선은 2차원의 평면을 입체화하는 시선에 해당한다. 다른 하나는 투시하는 시선으로, 뢴트겐사진이나 모홀리 나기의 포토그램(만레이의 레이요그램) 등으로 실현되는 투시하는 시선은 신체에 대한 해부적 상상과 맞물린다. 이상은 이 두 가지 시선이 서로 절합하며 다중적인 시선을 만들어내는 광경을 아인슈타인의 상대성 이론에 근거한 빛의 속도를 바탕으로 실현하고자 했던 것이다. 바로 조감도의 차원에 도입된 동시적 시간 차원 내지 그 중첩이라는 입체파적인 시도와 관계되어 있는 것으로, 바우하우스의 모홀리 나기의 기획과도 연관되어 있다. 본 논문은 이처럼 이상이 그리고 있던 ‘흔들리는 조감도’라는 시선에 대한 연구의 시작점으로, 그 바탕이 되는 후지시마 가이지로의 글들을 검토하여, 이상의 예술적 전위가 시작된 원점의 풍경을 도해하고자 시도하였다.

두개골 및 두개봉합부 초기발육과정에서의 전사조절인자인 Msx2와 DIx5의 역할

두개봉합부의 조기융합으로 일컬어지는 craniosynostosis는 두개봉합부에서의 골아세포의 조기분화 및 석회화의 결과로 나타나는 선천성 발육이상이다. 최근 유전학적 연구에 의하면 homeobox gene인 Msx2의 변이에 의해 Boston-type craniosynostosis가 야기되며, 또한 Dlx5 homozygote mutant mouse의 표현형에서 두개골의 골화지연을 포함한 다양한 두개안면부위의 이상을 발견하였다는 보고가 있었다. 게다가 Msx2와 Dlx5 homeodomain protein의 상호작용에 의해 성숙골아세포의 표지자인 osteocalcin의 전사를 조절할 수 있다는 사실이 알려져 있다. 이러한 일련의 결과들은 Msx2, Dlx5 및 osteocalcin 유전자들이 두개골의 골화과정과 두개봉합부의 형태발생에 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있음을 제시해주고 있다. 두개골의 성장과 두개봉합부의 형태발생시 이러한 유전자들의 기능을 알아보기위해 mouse의 태생기 (E15-E18) 동안 osteocalcin, Msx2, 및 Dlx5 유전자들의 발현양상을 조사하였다. Osteocalcin은 E15부터 두정골의 골막에서 관찰되었으며, 발생시기가 후기일수록 강한 발현양상을 나타내었다. Msx2는 시상봉합부의 미분화간엽조직과 osteogenic front에서 강하게 발현되었으며 경막과 hair follicle에서도 관찰되었다. Dlx5는 osteogenic front를 포함한 두정골의 골막에서 강하게 발현되었으나 시상봉합부의 미분화간엽조직에서는 발현되지않아, Msx2와는 발현양상의 차이를 나타내었다. 이 결과들을 종합해볼 때, Msx2와 Dlx5 유전자는 두개골과 두개봉합부의 성장발육과정에 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있으며, BMP signaling은 두 전사조절인자들을 조절하므로써 두개골의 골화과정과 두개봉합부의 형태발생 및 유지에 관여하고 있음을 제시해주고 있다. 특히 BMP signaling에 specific downstream gene인 Msx2 및 Dlx5의 발현양상의 차이는 골아세포의 분화시 이들 유전자가 각각의 독특한 기능을 가지고 있음을 시사해주고 있다. Craniosynostosis, known as a premature fusion of cranial sutures, is a developmental disorder characterized by precocious differentiation and mineralization of osteoblasts in the calvarial sutures. Recent genetic studies have demonstrated that mutation in the homeobox gene Msx2 causes Boston-type human craniosynostosis. Additionally, the phenotype of Dlx5 homozygote mutant mouse presents craniofacial abnormalities including a delayed ossification of calvarial bone. Furthemore transcription of osteocalcin, a mature osteoblast marker, is reciprocally regulated by the nomeodomain proteins Msx2 and Dlx5. These facts suggest important roles of osteocalcin, Msx2 and Dlx5 genes in the calvarial bone growth and suture morphogenesis. To elucidate the function of these molecules in the early morphogenesis of mouse cranial sutures, wer have first analyzed by in situ hybridization the expression of osteocalcin, Msx2 and Dlx5 genes in the developing parietal bone and sagittal suture of mouse calvaria during the embryonic (E15-E18) stage. Osteocalcin mRNA was found in the periosteum of parietal bones from E15, and gradually more highly expressed with aging. Msx2 mRNA was intensely expressed in the sutural mesenchyme, osteogenic fronts and midly expressed in the dura mater during the embryonic stage. Dlx5 mRNA was intensely expressed osteogenic fronts and the periostem of parietal bones. To further examine the upstream signaling molecules of transcription factor Msx2 and Dlx5, we have done in vitro experiments in E15.5 mouse calvarial explants. Interestingly, implantation of BMP2-, BMP4-soaked beads onto the osteogenic fronts after 48 hours organ culture induced etopic expressions of Msx2 and Dlx5 genes. On the other hand, overexpression of TGFβ1, GDF-6, -7, FGF-2, -4 and Shh did not induce the expression of Msx2 and Dlx5. Taken together, these data indicate that transcription factor Msx2 and Dlx5 play critical roles in the calvarial bone and suture development, and that BMP siganling is involved in the osteogenesis of calvarial bones and the maintenance of cranial sutures through these two transcriotpn factors. Furthermore, different expression patterns between Msx2 and Dlx5 suggest their specific functions in the osteoblast differentiation.

한국과 일본의 근대적 ‘문학’ 관념의 한 단면 -다카야마 조규와 이광수를 중심으로

This study is examine the formation of modern literary theory, which was influenced by the literary discourses of Japan, focusing on Lee Kwangsoo, who first introduced theory on modern literature in Korea. In the early studies, it is common to see that the function of ‘emotion(情)’ as most important part in Lee Kwangsoo’s literary theory in 1910, 1916 has been influenced from Tsubouchi Shoyo(坪内逍遥). However, if you look at the process of change Lee Kwangsoo literary theory and the composition in Japanese literature history, you can easily see how unreasonable it is to compare Lee Kwangsoo and Tsubouchi Shoyo just through ‘emotion(情)’. This is because Lee Kwangsoo had a certain distance from aestheticians moving toward naturalism in Waseda university, Shimomura Hogetsu, Tsubouchi Shoyo. This study examines the possibility that Lee Kwangsoo’s literary theory was deeply influenced by Takayama Chogyu(高山樗牛). Hatano Setsuko has already mentioned the possibility that the early literary theory of Lee Kwangsoo’s may have been influenced by ‘principle of instinct satisfaction’ of Takayama Chogyu’s literary theory. In this paper, I think that Lee Kwangsoo’s literary theory has been deeply influenced by him, not only in the early literary theory. We can find such a basis on his rejection of ‘art for art’ and his settlement on the proposition of art for life Takayama Chogyu has been often misunderstood as a nationalist, because of his writing named “Japanism”, but he was a critic who occupied the most contradictory position of individualistic nationalism. He understood that the instinct-centered beauty in literature was derived from the action of ‘affection’ in emotion and the literature of the instinctual satisfaction has advanced to cover the nation-state through the mediation of the people’s affection. Lee Kwangsoo also restructures the position of ‘the literary man(文士)’ by referring to the criticism of ‘Writing is person(文は人なり)’ which was the title of book published by collecting his writings after Chogyu’s death. Lee Kwangsoo's literary practice process was not so different from the point of the ‘aesthetic life theory(美的生活論)’ proposed by Chogyu, namely, the point of individualist nationalism. 본 논문은 한국 최초로 근대적인 문학론을 내세웠던 이광수를 중심으로, 그가 근대적인 문학론을 형성하는 데 있어서 영향을 받았던 일본의 문학 담론들을 살피고자 하는 시도이다. 기존 이광수의 문학론 중 ‘정(情)’의 분자를 대상으로 한 연구들은 대개 그 문학론이 일본의 쓰보우치 쇼요의 영향 하에서 형성된 것이라 파악하는 것이 일반적이었다. 하지만, 이광수의 문학론의 편력이나 일본 문학사의 구도를 살펴보게 되면, 단순히 ‘정’을 매개로 이광수와 쓰보우치 쇼요를 비교하는 것이 얼마나 위험한 일인가 하는 것을 알 수 있다. 이광수는 쓰보우치 쇼요를 비롯하여 시마무라 호게쓰로 이어지는 와세다 대학 중심의 자연주의자들과는 일정한 거리를 두고 있었기 때문이다. 본 연구는 이광수의 문학론이 다카야마 조규의 그것에 깊은 영향을 받았을 가능성을 검토한다. 이미 하타노 세츠코는 이광수가 ‘본능만족주의’를 언급하던 초기 문학론에서 다카야마 조규의 영향이 미치고 있을 가능성에 대해 이미 언급해두고 있다. 본 논문은 여기에서 좀 더 나아가 이광수의 초기 문학론을 넘어 그가 ‘예술을 위한 예술’을 거부하고 ‘인생을 위한 예술’이라는 명제에 정착하기까지의 과정 전반에 다카야마 조규의 영향이 짙게 드리워져 있다고 본다.
